This specific location doesnt have all the equipment I prefer to use, but was ok for a quick cardio workout
I love working out a Planet Fitness. The facility is tidy and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is ample parking! The trainer is the BEST EVER. She is competent and encouraging, as well as sensitive to the individual needs of people in each session.
Staff is awesome!!! They are very welcoming and just super friendly!! The manager was so sweet and helped me transfer my account from MI to NC.
The staff is really pleasant and attentive. There's ample equipment and locker room space. I always feel welcome and supported.
Overall a good planet fitness. They keep the equipment clean and theres never really any broken machines. The staff is nice and friendly. This location is pretty busy. Its conveniently located.
Awesome massage chairs and beds but only qualm is it is located in a "sketchy" area of town which is scary at night. I suggest PF hire some security guards to walk you to your car. Some scary looking people outside, but the gym is great and no problems with the gym. Would've given 5 stars if not for the location.
Planet Fitness's 24-7 schedule makes it easy to fit any members personal schedule. Planet Fitness employees are always friendly, polite and accomodating to help new members learn their way around the equipment. The black card membership is awesome. Having access to the tanning and massage equipment is worth way more than the extra $10 amonth. I give this gym membership a perfect 10 of 10 rating. Roy Jimerson
Busy gym with lots of new equipment and a lot of variety. I love that you find all kinds of people there working out together in a friendly no judgement atmosphere.
A great place to workout! Staff is super friendly and the facilities are super clean. Love a clean gym.
I've been a member now for eight months. The staff and many of the members are great. But I'm taking off two stars because:
1) The "hot" water in the men's showers borders on cold. I've asked repeatedly for something to be done about this, but I've finally given up.
2) Many of the best lockers have locks on them that have been there for weeks, left on overnight. I've even kept a list and pointed this out to staff. They promise to do something about it, but the problem has gotten much worse.
There's a new manager, and maybe she'll do something about it. When she does, I'll change my rating.

Front desk great service. Plenty of exercise machines available. My first day was great experience. Planet fitness is excellent for your health goals.

This is a good gym with low rates. The facility is new so the equipment is great. The staff are really friendly. The bathrooms are kept clean and the gold card area with tanning and massage beds/chairs is nice, too.

Good: convenient location, ample parking, clean and maintained.
Bad: The gym is too small and packed with useless unused purple equipment used by most to lounge on. Please expand weights area and get rid of half those unused treadmills and elliptical

Great environment, rates and equipment. They keep the place spotless and are always friendly.
The equipment is great, and the people are friendly. However I needed to cancel my membership due to moving. When trying to cancel my account I was told I could not cancel my membership online and could only do it by mail or by going in person. This is somewhat ridiculous and I suspect only done to make it much more difficult to cancel my subscription. Very disappointing.

Bad: The gym is too small and packed with useless unused purple equipment used by most to lounge on. This location more than other triangle locations, is dominated by fat women, 60% or so, who seem to be there solely to wear workout attire. They lift a weight or two, walk at a snails pace on the treadmill and generally waste their time. I wouldn't care normally, but they tend to occupy the few open spaces while pretending to be exercising. Ladies, a word of advice, weight loss is 80% diet, if you can't be bothered to eat less, cut out the junk food and soda, a trip to PF isn't going to help.
Awesome place very friendly staff , never crowded . Price is just right .
I love planet fitness. It's a great place to get fit and work out; a place of no judgement. The machines are easy to use, great for beginners to seasoned fitness buffs. The hydromassage beds and chairs are great after a strenuous workout, fibromyalgia, and arthritis sufferers. They also have tanning beds, and physical trainers to assist you further. Also, the fees are very affordable.
Planet Fitness failed to set up my account correctly so instead of getting charged $20 a month I have to pay 50. When asked about this air they told me that the people that work there are associated with the people that collect money from your account so there was nothing they could do.
The equipment is kept clean and in great working order for easy use. I recommend bringing headphones of some kind if you plan on watching one of the tv's while you workout because there is usually something interesting on.
Love the atmosphere and machines as well as free weights and fitness classes, not to mention the massage chairs and beds to help you relax after!!!!

Super clean and convenient! Wished they were opened 24/7
I switched to Planet Fitness from the YMCA for a number of reasons, my top three being price, hours and parking. While they do have pretty good hours, they are NOT truly 24 hours Monday through Friday as their website suggests. They open at 5am on Monday and close at 9pm (TOO EARLY!) on Friday. Saturday and Sunday they are only open from 7am-7pm. Better than the YMCA, but still not awesome. Parking and price are great, and there are plenty of machines. I wish they had more and heavier free weights and more space to use them, but I suppose their target clientele are casual exercisers who wouldn't use them much. I also wish they would tone down the whole "judgement-free zone" thing - there is a huge siren that they can sound above a big sign that shames people for being "lunks" - wearing tank tops, grunting too loudly when lifting, or dropping weights. A better definition of hypocrisy there is not: "We don't judge - just don't look or act like THIS or we will publicly shame you with flashing lights and a siren"! I've never had the bell rung on me because I'm actually very quiet, but I've seen it rung on a couple of people who were in NO way bothering anyone else or slamming weights. I think the staff just wanted to screw with people. It's absolutely obnoxious - we're lifting heavy weights at a gym. Sometimes people struggle and need to grunt a little or even let a dumbbell drop here or there - that's why your floors are made of rubber!
This location appears to be well maintained (pretty much a PF hallmark). I noticed no unclean smell in the women's bathroom (for me a good barometer) and as far as I could see most patrons wiped down machines after use. I arrived at about 3:15 pm on a Thursday afternoon and found I could easily move around the gym without bumping into others and had my choice of machines. This is my 3rd Planet Fitness membership (previously, NE and MD). So, I just paid for the "black" card which allows the use of some 1400 locations across the country for only $21. (Theoretically, I'll never have to cancel a membership again.) I'm just hoping all future workout sessions go as well as today's.
Nice, clean, neat and orderly fitness facility. Staff is incredibly warm and friendly. Not to be taken for granted. At some locations they aren't.
Plenty of weights and machines. Cardio equipment for days!
A great place to get a good workout. The people of this community are fortunate to have access to this gym.
Very clean, well maintained machines, super friendly staff. Liz in particular was very helpful and courteous and went out of her way to help me resolve a couple issues.
Not sure how that person below rated 1 star since this place isn't even open yet? During the sign up process, the staff were extremely friendly. Looking forward to the first day!
This location opens August 1st. I'm a member of the PF in Hillsborough, but have moved back to Durham temporarily and will be using this location. Maybe. I like PF, I just advise anyone signing up to REALLY read the small print. I have the $20 membership. These are just a few things that were not made clear in the "contract," with clear writing, or by the person who helped me sign up:
- The "Black Card" ($20/month membership) is NOT no commitment, or free to cancel. It's a year long contract and a $58 "buyout" fee is applied if you cancel within a year.
- An annual fee is charged. This I did know, but I didn't know it would be charged one month after joining, at least in my case. It was $40. In order to not be charged, you must let your PF know by the 25th of the month BEFORE the annual fee is to be charged. I was charged somewhere around June 1st.
- "Unlimited guest privileges" are not unlimited. You can bring a guest, but they can only use the exercise equipment. Not the massage chairs, tanning beds, etc.
- Downgrading/upgrading your membership will cost you. Start up fees apply for the new account. (I would be charged $50 to do this in my case.)
- To top it off, the Hillsborough location let me "freeze" my account for two months (June/July) due to moving here and this location not opening yet. Well, shocker. I was charged my monthly fee yesterday, and probably for the month of June too.
Buyer beware.
This place has been cleaned better than a Home Brew Hard Drive.
Great facility and friendly staff. This is a great gym if you're a regular person looking to get some exercise or weight training. I'm grateful that it isn't full of extreme fitness buffs - it's a very comfortable environment for an average person like myself.
