Its an okay gym. The staff at the front desk say hello when they see you, they seem nice and approachable. It is in a convenient location. The bathrooms are clean. However, it is always CROWDED. The equipment's in good shape, if you get a chance to use it. But there is barely space to workout. Maybe they should consider making this location a 24/7 gym with all the traffic it produces. One positive thing is that it has Les Mills Classes, that why gave it 2 stars instead of 0 stars. So there's that. But all around, a neutral review.
I started coming here in July and loved it for the price until they took away access to the group fitness room for all members even when the room wasn't in use. This was apparently due to people stealing equipment. I was told when I joined in the summer that all members could use this gym when no classes were going on. Instead of being proactive & locking the equipment up like other gyms, they cut off access entirely to an entire area.
Not friendly to women who like to workout in a more private space. I spoke to the manager & wrote to them re: this with no response or resolution. Really disappointing.

Poo poo gym. Was a member primarily at the uptown location for a while. they do slimy things like close when there is any threat of bad weather even when it is sunny, they close the Uptown location with only two weeks notice before shutting down, yet only a week prior, they were still selling memberships to that location! Fitness Connection is an overall messed up company that treats the members poorly. The facilities are dirty and crowded...
But it's only $10 a month (if you pay for a sign up fee, you are being a pushover... You can 100% always negotiate that off.) And then they charge you $40 a year for "equipment fee". That part can't be negotiated off. if you absolutely insist on going to this gym, you should refuse to pay the initiation fee, you absolutely can get it waived if you refuse to join unless they waive it.
Nice facility, lots of machines and less crowded than other fitness area.
This was the worst experience I have ever had at a gym!!!
Was lied to about being in a contract for physical training and only found out when I went to cancel it due to the fact that the trainer was always late and also was trying to extort more money from me for workouts that I was already paying for.I never received the included meal plan after 2 months nor the supplemental workouts that were suppose to be done on my own without the trainer. I was told if I wanted more workouts that I had to pay him directly with cash or a mobile cash app $20 per extra workout.
I was finally able to cancel the PT contract after contacting the district manager who never returned my complaint to me but to the manager at that gym.
After that I went into to cancel my actual membership twice and both times sat down with someone on the computer and went through the cancellation process. Now 3 months later, my membership is still not canceled and they have been billing me each month even after filling out the cancellation form twice. Now the third time filling it out, I am sure it will not stop them trying to charge my monthly membership fee even when there is supposedly no contract.
DO NOT JOIN THIS SCAM!
It's a good gym with really good rates, but it gets busy around 5-8 o'clock normally. Good luck working out during that window. I suppose that means it's popular tho.

It is ok. I use to go to the one in Pineville and it was much better equipped. The Pineville location was a little bit more crowded but there were always machines that worked and there were three classrooms. This location only has one classroom so you're kind of forced to choose between going to whatever class is going on at that time. It is nice that there is a basketball court that you and your friends can use. Your friend must be a member or use one of your guest passes to use the indoor basketball court. This location seems to be very crowded at times. Also, there is a continuing problem in that some people seem to grab alot of the free weights (up to 10 different sets) and use them for hours leaving others without the use of the weights. Leaving the free weight stand almost empty. This causes me to have to ask if I can use weights, leading to some awkward moments when people still "need" the free weights even though they're not using them. There is no Wi-Fi and cell service is spotty inside the gym so streaming your own music can be a little annoying.
Overall the gym isn't bad but it's not as nice as the other locations.
Great price plans and excellent service and equipment. Napolean, who works at this location, signed me up and has always been there to help if needed. Gets a little crowded during the week after 5 but you will find that with any gym.

DO NOT get a membership with this company. They will try and get every little amount of money out of you. It first started when they charged me an extra twenty dollars for a months bill. Claimed it was because my bank account did not have enough money in it, but when I went to go check the policy I signed when I first got my membership, it stated that they were only supposed to charge me ten dollars for that. Where did this extra ten dollars come from??? AND THEN I moved over 2 hours away in a different city and canceled my membership with them. Said they were going to still charge me for an extra month. How are you going to charge me for an extra month if I am not even living in Charlotte anymore to use the facilities?! I wish I never got a membership with them.

How they get you is the whole pay month to month thing, but I can't cancel my membership whenever I want to and it actually cancel when I want it to?? False advertisement. Don't give in to their scam.

My favorite gym. Best FC in the city. Helpful staff, great equipment and they have an indoor basketball court.
I've been with this gym for some years.
The equipment is up to date.
The classes are conveniently scheduled.
Variety of classes are awesome.
They offer tanning, & a steam room.
Broken machines are fixed in a somewhat timely manner.
I don't why the ONLY machine I love to use each visit is the ONLY machine that's always broken.
However it's a very nice, spacious & clean gym. All of the employees are very pleasant.
This gym claims to provide wifi, however I personally can never connect to it with the provided password.
Thankfully you can connect to Spectrum wifi if you have the service.
I have never been so appalled with an organization. I went in several months ago to update my card information and they screwed something up on their end and did not update the card number. Their financial company then kept contacting me about a past due payment, but when you call to try and rectify the situation, Marcus Miller ( the ONLY person you can apparently contact) will not even call you back! Or return emails. I was out of the country on business so the only way I could handle this was over the phone. But how was I supposed to do that if no one will answer the phone or ever return my calls?! It is extremely unprofessional and when trying to contact customer service, they just referred me back to him. I will never go to fitness connection ever again, and certainly will not be recommending them to anyone else.
The basketball court is always closed. what the purpose of paying for something that I can not use. I would like to use it for cardio when playing but it is never open. I don't understand why this location is like this because the location in university the basketball court is never closed.
Great quality for the price for sure. They upgrade machinery in an acceptable time frame and machines are always working for the most part. However, this gym can tend to get very crowded. This gym should definitely open earlier on weekends and should actually be a 24 hour gym considering the number of members they have.

I love that they have classes you can go to as part of the membership. I got personal training there got hurt and couldn't continue but they made me pay for the buy out which was horrible. So no I won't get personal training again but I still love the facilities
If you are looking for a friendly atmosphere don't go hear. The first time I went they didn't even acknowledge that I was there! I told them I was interested in joining and they treated me like an afterthought! I was just another person they could make a buck from. I did sign up though because of the low cost and still was not treated as if they wanted me there. The place needs renovating and updated equipment. They need to train their staff about customer service. Needless to say I found another gym that costs more but truly cares about me and my goals. They've already got three more members based on my recommendation. My advice to fitness connection...act like you truly care about your customers or they'll continue to leave just like I did.
I go here all the time. Broad selection of exercise equipment. I try to go at odd hours to avoid the peak hours after work.
I've been going to this gym for about a year and I am extremely dissapointed that the basketball court is always closed. Me and my boyfriend shoot around for cardio exercises and the court has been closed for months. I pay for a membership to use this amenty. I actually live closer to the university one but that gym is too crowded. Upset that the amenities I signed up for are closed.
Formally known as the Charlotte Sports Center, Fitness Connection has an affordable monthly service plan along with excellent customer service. However this facility is in need of up to date equipment along with more machines ASAP.
So far I really love this gym. I go in the mornings or afternoon and I've never had to wait for a machine. It's very spacious and there is a lot of unique equipment. The staff was awesome and gave us a huge discount when signing up!
Terrible experience. I felt like i was talking with a shady used car salesman. When I called it was fine if I showed them the 5 day pass on my phone but when it was clear that I wasn't getting a membership in the first 5 minutes it was suddenly an issue that I didn't have the email printed. I've had memberships to many gyms and martial arts gyms over the years and have never dealt with this level of pushiness. The review saying they try to strong arm you into a membership was dead on. Not only did they lose my business but they lost several of my friends who were interested in finding a gym in this area.
Typical chain gym. It does get pretty crowded due to the low rates they charge, but then again you're paying 10-20 a month so you can't be too picky. Cardio machines sometimes seem to be broken for a long time and when they're not "broken" they're not really working properly... They have been upgrading the facility which is nice, but recently with the addition of the new turf the the machines are now packed even more tightly than before.. The hours on the weekend could be a bit longer as well.
