Well equipped facility including lap and "walk-in" pools. Outdoor pool with waterslide and generous sunning area. Comprehensive exercise facility with full range of weight machines, dead weights, treadmills, orbital machines, stair climbers. Many free classes offered. Basketball courts, climbing wall s. Showers and lockers. Expert trainers for all needs from rehab to bodybuilding. Very friendly staff. Also has cafe and grooming spa offering massages.
Fantastic customer service and gym manager. I also love the yoga classes and instructors. The kids academy is amazing and the dept head is too.. they really care about your kids. I wouldn't go anywhere else because this place is legit the best.
Great facility. Everybody is so nice and I love the gym and the spa and everything I love it all. The best place to be stress free
I initially joined LifeTime Fitness in 2012 because of the extensive facilities and the 24/7 hours, in particular the early morning hours which fit my full time work schedule. While the monthly membership was not cheap, it was well worth the quality of the experience. In 2018 the hours were cut (while my membership fees were increased), with the facility closing at midnight and re-opening between 3:45-4:00 a.m. This opening time is at the discretion of those opening, with 4:00 being the official time. The extra fifteen minutes is a bone the staff usually, but not always, flings to the regulars that show up a twidge early. The management seems to have ignored the fact that many of its patrons prefer to exercise before going into work. This makes getting a full workout in a timely manner difficult due to the crowd and the opening time. Were it not for the access to the pool (one hour before the Y opens), I would be gone from this place. The suggestion posed by some of the regular patrons of opening at 3:00 a.m. was rejected.
If you have the time to work out during the day or evening, after work, and don't mind the peak crowds, then this facility will certainly serve your needs. For those wishing to workout in the early morning, other options may be better.
The facilities are still equaled by none, but the fee combined with the reduced hours makes it a less tenable option than it was in 2012.
All service members, first responders, and anyone with the possibility of have an extended trip needs to stay very far way from Lifetime Fitness. This organization gives a great deal of lip service about supporting the military and service. I've been detailed out twice now in the last two years. Each time has been on short notice, with under 48 hours to prepare to leave. Each time, I've called the gym, and asked them to put my membership on a "hold" status, where the fees drop from approximately $200 a month to $25 a month. Each time, I have been promised it was done, and each time, it has not. After the fact, I was told I had to go into a gym to complete this transaction. Impossible when the closest gym is several hundred miles away.
The last incident, which occurred from Feb 2018 to April 2018 was the same. I called in after I was out of the area due to a rapid, urgent need. I called in, and told it would be taken care of. In May, then collection phone calls started. They called my local work office (which I was not at), my home, my cell, my wife, and my mother in law whom lives with us sometimes multiple times a day. I called and explained what was going on. They refused to make any adjustments unless I gave them a copy of my actual orders. These were not available for release, as with many. That was not acceptable for Lifetime Fitness.
I paid close to $400 just to get them to stop bothering everyone by phone. I was promised the account was to be put on hold when I paid these "past due fees". 30 days later, the phone calls started again. According to the new agent, there were "no notes and no promises". I must go into a club to make this transaction.
Everyone needs to stay away from this organization whom has the possibility of being recalled, detailed, or expect proper treatment of personnel whom may need to leave the area for an extended period.
I will be home for 3 days mid August. I will be taking part of the valuable time to go to the gym to cancel my family's 15+ yr membership, rather then spending it with my family.

We choose this place mainly for the pool facilities and kids activities. While the pool was fairly cold for the first years, now it turned into a prison like facility. We went there yesterday and in the 10 minute break our daughter dared to put her feet in the water while sitting down on the edge of the pool and she got yelled at! The lifeguards are extremely sensitive to the pool rules and the atmosphere is extremely unpleasant. We could not take our kids outside for fresh air even though we are always supervising them. It truly feels like a very narrow minded, way too aggressive place. Also, it heavily smells of chlorine inside. The slide is never open when we go there, so it's just there for viewing purposes. Something needs to change here. All of our friends agree.

Several years ago my granddaughter had a near drowning in the outside pool. Ironically, we were there to continue swim lessons at inside pool. She had been taking swim lessons for a couple of months. While waiting for swim lessons to begin, my husband went outside to place towels on chairs for us. He did not know that my granddaughter had followed him out. I was also unaware, as I was at inside pool counter making changes to swim lesson schedule and had directed her to walk around to swim instructor within sight of the scheduling table. There were 3 life guards on duty outside and it was adult swim. There were very few people in the pool as it was about 10 am. My three year old granddaughter had jumped into the pool behind my husbands back. When I looked up and her swim instructor indicated that she had not walked around to her lesson as I directed, I began to panic. I screamed that she was missing, checked the bathrooms etc. My husband then came to the door at indoor pool, passing my granddaughter at the bottom of the outside pool. When Inrelated to him that she was missing, he immediately turned and headed back to outside pool and He, not the 3 lifeguards pulled her out. I, not the lifeguards, began CPR while they stood around and watched. She was transported to Wake Med and gratefully survived. Following the event, the assistant director called and checked on her as he was a personal friend of the family. Absolutely no compensation, no apology from corporate, no free swim lessons...NOTHING! Then several years later my husband died suddenly. Gym wanted me to continue to pay his contract. I called local Cary and spoke to corporate at least three times. Corporate still insisted I needed to pay. All of this can be substantiated if Lifetime response is negative or denying occurrence. When I wanted to cancel my membership following these events, member services tried to coerce me to continue. Greedy corporation lacking family values!!

This is for the Kids Academy Summer Camp. Love the counselors at the camp, so caring and friendly, and my kids love going to this camp in the summer more then others. Exciting summer field trips for the kids as well.

Seemed to be a normal lifetime gym for this level. Plenty of equipment and machines available, no problem getting on any equipment. Front desk was a breeze while I brought in a guest. Jumped right into a quick game on the court.
One thing that seemed odd was that the activity desk was completely empty as well as the office in the back.
This place activated my frozen account without my permission (they said that after 9 months they are activating frozen accounts!!) and charged me for 3 months!! I feel like I am robbed
Always someone happy to greet you, the whole facility is clean and I see employees picking up throughout day, as I go at different times. Kids Academy is great, as well as Summer Camp. Communication is wonderful and always get quick emails back. Plenty of equipment that even at busy times I never have a problem finding a machine to use. Only thing I wish is that Lifetime in general would have online registration for Summer Camp and Kids (paid) Classes...it's a pain filling out a written form. Same goes for when you have to cancel a paid class. Highly recommended and worth every penny!

Love the gym itself. Lost my job shortly after joining and cancelled my non-contractual membership. Which was fine until yesterday, 3 months later... They take out $15. I know. Only $15. But back off of my bank account. I closed the membership.
I am leaving Life Time Fitness a 5 star rating for a few reasons.
I have been an on and off member for about 5 years due to having to relocate for work and no Lifetime Fitness in the area.
I personally find the membership fees well within reason. After I work out I am able to have access to steam rooms, saunas, hot tubs and if I decide to take a 45 minute shower I have that luxury.
If you don't like the price then go to Planet Fitness for $10.00 a month where the hours are even more limited, no pools just equipment. By all means if you are just looking for somewhere to do some cardio and lift weights Life Time Fitness may not be the best fit for you.
But personally I shoot basketball in the gym, use the rock climbing wall, hot tubs, indoor and outdoor pools, cafe and I think the price is worth every penny.
If you don't like the price no need to leave a negative review just go right on down to Planet Fitness for $10.00 a month but if you use Life Time for all that it offers it's a great value!
We have been members here for several years, left and came back. I am actively looking for another 24 option as my schedule is significantly different than my kids. I understand the rationale was low usage at night and moving night resources that keep the club clean during peak times but this does not seem to be the case. During my many late nights I have never been the only person or female there during my peak time of midnight to 4am-ish. In the ladies area cleanliness depends on who is working, but I know there were issues, at times with having female staff to clean overnight. There was also no decrease in the cost when they decreased the hours the club would be available, which is a shame because midnight basketball during the summer was awesome for my teens. I love the equipment, the amenities, and the new court floor is great, but I would not have rejoined if I had known that they were planning to change the hours. Hopefully someone in my area will be abl to fill this gap.
Upper management has destroyed this once best gym in the area. Rates have gone up 25% over the last three years. That is acceptable if they improved the facility. The complete opposite has happened. This current renovation has eliminated 20 weight resistance machines. The last renovation three years ago got rid of seven. Since management does not have a clue on what is a good piece of equipment that is heavily used 75% of the lost machines were good. The replacement for all these lost machines is a huge jungle gym apparatus used for group training. Their philosophy is a trainer that can have eight clients on the monkey bars can bring in more revenue than one on one training on one machine. Can not imagine what this place will be like in January and February on a Monday night with 25% less weight resistance machines. Talked to two people who worked out at a Lifetime Fitness over Thanksgiving out of town that had this jungle gym apparatus. Both said over three days there that no one used it. In 40 years, I have never seen a gym go from great to poor so quickly. It is all about the $$$$.
Above was my post. Corresponding with upper management, they addressed every one of my concerns. With new equipment coming this place will be much better than before. Still can not address losing square footage and the number of weight machines lost but management stepped up and listened to members concerns.
I got a membership in 2011, at that time, Lifetime fitness was best gym, beautiful pool, all was great. In 2016, after 5 years things had gone sour. The renovations to lockers were horrible. no more keys, but 1/2 combination locks were defective. I would normally train around 9 pm, equipment was dirty, towels left on machines, clearly no one was cleaning. The daycare wasn't great. We only used the daycare 6 times, 4 out of 6 I was disappointed with. I gave lifetime fitness almost 10K in membership services in 5 years and all went down hill. No rules at the pool, dirty diaper kids running around... hieck !!! We gave up on the pool... Just not worth the high prices....Attitude of staff at reception was definitely not great! only a few were super nice, others acted like we were disturbing them... After 5 years, my daughter was home from college and she was forced to pay for a guest to tag along, even during quiet times...No sense of loyalty for long time membership (full family)..ah well.. their loss...
I've been a member of the Cary location of Life Time Fitness for a little over a year and a half. I have loved being a member of Life Time and much of it has to do with the people. I worked with a fantastic trainer, Matt, and lost almost 50 pounds, opening up a whole new fitness world to me. I have found great accountability and friendships through Life Time Run and the group offers strong quality training programs, whether your goal is a 5k or a full marathon. A lot of what I gained when I started at Life Time was education and I needed that! I participated in a 90-Day Challenge, which allowed me to attend seminars on fitness and nutrition and where I was at that point, I needed that! I did find myself a few months ago wondering if the cost was worth it, so I decided to explore parts of the gym I had been ignoring. Taking advantage of the pool and hot tubs has been great. If all you're looking for is a gym with bare bones, sure you can find something cheaper. However, all the extras at Life Time have been worth it for me.
I have never seen a fitness center that over charges its customers like this one. I urge everyone to review the monthly statements carefully because this place is relentless when it comes to grab money out of a customer's wallet. The staff is rude and seems to care less. I hope the management realizes that the lifetime customers are paying 8 to 10 times more than other local fitness centers, which only charge a fraction of the cost. To my amazement, the service at lifetime is getting worse and worse. Think Again before you join this club!
I've been going here for almost 10 years on and off. The facility is always improving in small ways whether it be equipment or otherwise. My only concern is the cleanliness. It seems like almost the entire facility is maintained to a satisfactory level - not a good level. The locker rooms generally smell pleasant but I'm not sure how clean they are. Overall though for what you get, I think that it's worth it - especially if you go in with 4 people total because it drops the price.
I joined lifetime fitness because of the excellent facilities and 24 hour a day, seven days a week accessibility. While the facilities are still excellent, the new hours posted for 2018 in combination with my recent membership fee increase will limit my abilities to use the equipment, while charging me more. Regretfully, I must consider other options. It is a regret because the free weights, pool and reasonably clean facilities will be difficult to equal. I would have awarded five stars, but the new hours may very well force me out.
I left Life Time almost two years ago and joined another club because I felt like I was paying too much for the facilities I was using. About a year ago I left that other club and came back to Life Time because I now realize the dark world of other gyms out there.
At Life Time the facilities are cleaner (even if they aren't perfect), the locker rooms don't have a looming stink, and the equipment is accessible.
I found at less costly gyms, there just is not enough equipment to meet the demands of all the people that are coming in. I even work out at 5:30 in the morning and found myself waiting to even get a bench in the weight rooms.
My point is this: Sure I would love to see my rates go down and spend less a month, but ultimately its those rates that are keeping the harmonious balance of members and equipment as well as affording the space that I enjoy. So having seen both sides of the gyms in the area, I am happy to be a member of Life Time.
This gym is open 24 hours and it is HUUUGE. There is often some quiet space and free equipment, since I think it rarely gets filled to the max possible occupancy of 761 persons!
