Half the machines are always out of order. The weights are never organized. The place is cleaned with about the same effort as my 8 yo son cleans his room. I can't be sure, but I think the place might have BEDBUGS OR FLEAS. This is the closest NYSC to my house, and I can't even go there because of the conditions. The other NYSC locations downtown and in Westchester aren't like this. Gee, I wonder why this one gets no attention.
2014: this is one of the better ones I've been to in manhattan. lots of space upstairs to stretch. clean.
Fast forward to 2020: My biggest suggestion is to have the Locker Rooms RENOVATED Completely!! Mold on the shower walls. Carpet is dusty. More stools Need to added.
Great club been there for 9 years and no issues except for the new comers that have no manners.
Half of the equipment is always broken. The studio room has dust bunnies dancing across the floor because apparently it is never cleaned. They randomly changed my plan and started charging me more every month. I called 6 times and have still never received a response from the manager. I will have to call my credit card company, DCA, and the BBB now. The only reason they got 2 stars is because they do have some good classes and nice instructors particularly the hip hop and cycling classes..
The place is huge and is well maintained as it is very clean and the smell is just so good. You can't smell anything bad at this place. Equipments are pretty good and they just have the best staff here who are all very polite and helpful

These people will steal your money! After signing up for a trial membership, I canceled within the 10 days to receive a refund. They told me my membership was canceled and I would be reimbursed, but they continued to charge me for the following months. When I brought the issue to their attention they insisted that I had never canceled my membership, and stated that I would need to produce proof of cancellation. However, I was never given proof of cancellation even when I asked for it upon termination of my trial membership. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIR CARD.
Place needs to get it together. When machines break down and it takes a good while to be repaired. They did finally put the proper soaps in the showers. I don't know how they don't have towels sometimes. Drying myself with tissues is pretty ridiculous. Very half assed operation.
Have never been to a gym where there have been more broken/out of service machines. This has been a running problem since 2017. Management non-existent at this club.
This would be a great gym if only it was kept clean. It is extremely dirty and for some reason the Machines never work
Every year the cost of membership goes up because of the "costs of maintenance" in addition to charging a yearly maintenance fee. I would happily swallow that if the location showed any level of improvement in maintenance. Not only are at minimum 20% of the machines broken at any given time, the ones that do work are worn down, show severe signs of age and distress, or are operable but have broken features. They have out of order type signs on machines and you will literally see dust on the paper sign because it has been so long since it has been out of order.
This is not the only major concern. I typically work out early in the morning, where the club is as clean as it will be, which isn't clean. I'm not just talking about weights being out of order and misplaced all throughout the gym (they're literally are littered throughout the gym, you can do some cardio looking for a matching pair of dumbbells). A few weekends ago I came in the middle of the day and it was disgustingly unhealthy. I walked in and felt the humidity from the sweat. This is particularly apparent on the second floor. Where is the air-conditioning and ventilation? This is a fairly new building, I work in the architecture design industry and know this shouldn't be a problem.
Blink offers significantly better prices and much better quality. Unfortunately this location is just too convenient to pass up. As soon as something else comes within 20 blocks of my apartment, I'm out of the NYSC broken machine and grungy club funk.

NYSC keeps charging me after I cancelled. The location manager must have failed to remove me from their system. They are now refusing to give a refund although it was their mistake. The machines and weights in need of replacement. The air smells musty. Showers are not clean so I never used them. Overall, I am a very dissatisfied customer.
So I started this membership when I first moved to the area in January because it was the most convenient option in the local neighborhood. Upon starting, I noticed multiple machines didn't work, but I decided to give the employees enough time to fix the equipment and it never happened. There are approximately 13 treadmills and at todays current date (03/6/2018) there are only 7 of those that are functioning properly. Recently I had a machine suddenly stop while running at 10.5mph which is absolutely terrible for your knees and poses a huge safety concern. The weights are absolutely NEVER organized and good luck trying to find any space to work out the majority of the time. This is by far the worst gym I have ever been a member of, and needless to say my membership has been cancelled. If I can offer one piece of advise... I did not take these reviews seriously before I signed up for my membership. But, please do yourself the favor and listen to the reviews. You can find a MUCH MUCH better gym than this. Finally, it's so sad that when I walked up to the front desk to cancel my membership... no questions were asked... they clicked a few things on the computer and told me my last day. I'm a regular at this fitness club. It's usually clean and not too packed but like any other gym it can get hectic during high traffic times. The staff are friendly and I enjoy my workouts.
There isn't much to leave one dissatisfied. The gym has a decent amount of space, machines, free weights, a sauna and even a designated crossfit area. There is also a decent selection of classes as well. Like other gyms, it gets pretty busy at times, so plan accordingly to ensure you get your workout on.
Is a very good gym. I like it very much. They have nice sauna but not steam room which I like so much. Staff very friendly.
Gym is good just needs a few more improvements. I been a member for 2 years and it has came a long way. First thing i think it needs is a stable MMA/Boxing room with new bags. Im tired of putting up the bag and taking it down everyday when they have a class also the bags are in pretty bad shape I think its funny how they buy a Christmas tree but cannot buy equipment upgrades. I think there should be more attachments for the cable and hooks as its always an adventure to find the right attachment for your workout. I also think there should be less classes scheduled i understand its needed to get people involved but its taking away a part of the gym for those of us that work out individually. Overall its a great gym i just need more gym equipment and ill be happy :).
The positioning of the bench presses are too close together so you have to climb in to a spot position. Theres only one decline bench. Also biggest peev they took down the clock by the free weights Months ago. I brought it up they said we have to wait for the next quarter. For a clock?! Ridiculous. Clock never replaced for half a year. Only using this gym because location is convenient. Ab wheel disappeared never replaced. When things go bad they just ignore it. With all the subscriptions they have and monthly payments you would think they would be better.
Not too bad.. good space. But a lot of equipment need to be updated so badly. Machines are outdated. Locks on the equipment are always missing.
Very poor gym etiquette on a regular basis. I have been going to this gym for the last 3 months. People hog dumbbells and machines, and weights are NEVER racked correctly. You spend a good 5 minutes in search of the necessary equipment to complete your workout. The trainers are also unprofessional. On my first day at the gym, I was approached by a trainer. I have an athletic build and told him I would love to follow-up with him. He took down my contact information, and then never contacted me. I see him everyday, and he avoids me. If you are looking for a gym that has few norms, then this is your place!
This gym is usually crowded, people tend to hoard weights and machines. The locker rooms need to be monitored more frequently for cleanliness. The staff is friendly though and the trainers seem to care about what they're doing. I hear people complaining about how they never have towels here, but I've never experienced that. I work out about 3 or 4 times a week.
The worse experience I've ever had with any business in my life! I went there to workout one day and was abruptly interrupted by the police and physically removed. Apparently someone was posing as me and breaking into lockers. As I result unknown to me I had been banned ( yet still billed for over three months) Long story short that person has been caught. I even had the detective on the case contact the GM. ( yes I had to do all this ground work myself ) And still i get no justice. They promised to call me back to resolve this months agos and still not one phone call. They are very unprofessional. I defiantly wotld not recommend joining this gym.
