This location is in a ideal spot right in between from work and home for me. The actual gym can definitely use some color, it looks very dingy and worn out. Some machines are ripped up and kinda old. The gym itself is good, it's a gym not a world class health club not expecting the full treatment here but they can do much better. Other NYSC do give you that world class and that's a really good feeling. Why McDonald's is so successful, you can love a Big Mac in Brooklyn and go to the Heights and that Big is the same delicious Big Mac. Would love to see some improvements to this gym since it's not doing any justice to the NYSC name.

Really like this gym. There was a black Friday discount as well and I got like 2 months free. Though I think the gym could use some color or something. Looks very dull and boring. But great and has a lot of options.
Non working sauna, steam room, hairy showers, old small dirty towels. This gym knows what they are doing. Collecting memberships and not doing a thing.
I've been coming to this location for about two years now and couldn't be more satisfied. In that time, I've been able to shed 50lbs and with that, a good deal of body fat. But the 5 stars is about more than just the numbers and the mirror. The staff here is fantastic. From the front desk and the membership consultants, to the staff who are responsible for keeping the location clean and in order, everyone walks around with a smile and a greeting. The training staff in particular are incredible. I started two years ago working out with Mike Howard, who I can credit with jump-starting my routine and getting me on the right path. If you are in need of a trainer, I'd definitely suggest stopping by to see him. The entirety of the training staff are awesome, always willing to answer a question or provide a spot or just have a chat when possible. The location itself is convenient, and the gym equipment is always in good condition, or quickly repaired when overused.
Pretty cool gym. Always can find a machine to work on. But I do go @ 3 to 4 pm., less people. Staff is very nice and helpful. Place is clean and they do give out towels. People are there to workout not prance around looking cute.
Very very clean, very well-maintained swimming pool. With a tiny little view of the sky... Plenty of bikes, which I love. Very clean. The wait staff was very helpful and professional. The best pool I have seen yet. As far as New York sports clubs go.
I take back everything positive I ever said about this gym. It has great potential, but the management is atrocious. Things break, and they do. not. fix. them. Ever. Try working out in 100+ degree weather without air conditioning.
The last of my favorite machines broke this week (out of *four* already broken ones) and I marched straight to Equinox to join, price be damned.

Great service. When Nick signed me up, i knew i found my home gym. From towels in the locker room to great, well maintained equipment, everything is ship shape.

Great machines , great location , the staff oblivious , the sauna tepid , the showers missing grouting , and the tiles black with mold. Machines are dirty. Missing weight numbers on the plates. Haphazard cleaning staff.

This branch is filthy and rarely has A/C . Management is very nice but have their hands tied as far as being able to change things. Reaching out to NYSC corporate is a waste of time. They don't respond.
This branch is a 2 min walk from my apartment which makes it convenient to get to. But I never know what I'm going to be walking into. Will today be the day that somebody passes out in class due to a lack of air conditioning???

Oh yeah love the gym each one is different and the weirdo alarms are staying silent.
Weight room is always crowded, hot and humid. The layout itself intentionally prevents extra space for anything and no one will change it even though people complain. All the weights are old and rusty. It takes forever to replace anything that is either damaged or broken. If any other gym opened up in this neighborhood that's around this price I would go immediately.

Clean bathrooms, showers and sauna/steam room, variety of machines and great trainers! They also have a physical therapy office on site called Recovery Physical Therapy, they are the BEST!

Excellent gym-close to public tramsportations, very clean and equipment in very good conditions-saunna and steam room are very nice here. It is really good.
Not the fanciest club and not always as up to date as I'd like in terms of class options. Good membership pricing though. Suffers from lack of space as many NYC clubs do.

worst "residential" nysc in manhattan. cardio is poorly maintained. at one point, THREE spin bikes were inoperable. cursory assisted weight machines. no variety. cramped hallways. They're focus is now on trx and absolute minimum on assisted weight machines. I dropping the rating from 2 to 1 star.I
I was deciding between this and Equinox and I'm definitely happy I chose this. It's never too crowded and I can always get the equipment I want. The staff doesn't bother you. The view out of the window is nice and motivating when you exercise. Some of the AMT machines are definitely broken, and if it gets worse, I'll have to switch gyms. That's the only major negative.
I have had trained in the club for 4 months already .
The club is always hot, at summer the basement AC is not working from time to time.
Now at winter when the club is crowded the AC is not working well.
Until a week ago there was just few hangers and a lot of free space, they brought more hangers but still most of the time all hangers are caught
Besides the attractive price, most machines are pretty old
The club is not managed well. Equipment is occasionally in disrepair or not calibrated, and not repaired quickly. The men's locker room is passable, but the steam, sauna and hot water can be broken. Just finished 2 weeks without hot water.
This being said, it's a good space and has great potential if the people in charge paid more attention to the satisfaction of the customer.
Last week there were a few lockers broken into, one of them was mine. While I can't blame the club for this, the follow up was non existent.
The help is really snobby they don't even want to answer a question or help you with how to use the machine. If you're not paying them to be a personal trainer they don't want to have anything to do with you. Very unfriendly atmosphere. Prices are ridiculous and they change from day-to-day. If you don't buy in with the ridiculously overpriced packages they call you the next day with sudden special which they could have offered in the first place. I had trouble getting on to their WiFi and had to ask one of the assistance for help and he was very snotty. I went to another one and they were snotty too. It's just a totally unfriendly place and for the prices you pay you should be treated a lot nicer in there oh don't get me wrong they're super friendly until they get you signed up then if you don't buy into one of their personal trainer packages they don't really want anything more to do with you
I've been going to this gym for two years, working with a trainer once a week and I've been very happy with the high quality and consistency of the training. The equipment has all recently been upgraded and replaced, and the facility has had some long-overdue renovations. Locker room is fine; weight room is fine, though often gets crowded; and I wish there were more bikes, but otherwise, I have found this gym to be great for my needs.
Good NYSC. Needs new free weight equipment. Always lots of space and freee machines.
Just moved to neighborhood, good location for me. Used to be NYSC member a few years ago before moving to an area that did not have one. Jamaal was really helpful in getting everything straightened out quickly with my membership (some issues from previous one).
Big,clean,nice showers and lockers. Staff is friendly and helpful
Cons:
-The weight room is a bit small and can seem crowded with only a few people.
-The cardio machines aren't well maintained
Pro:
-It is in a good location, right off the one train.
-It has a steam room which is pretty cruisy if you're into that.
