I've gone to this gym for about a month. Overall, it's pretty mediocre. The thing that's disappointing is that if the management were a bit more proactive about a couple things, it could actually be a really good deal. Also, my workout is purely weight training, so this review won't touch on their cardio equipment, pilates classes, or whatever.
Pros:
- Competitive price, at least for the area.
- Large space, again by NYC gym standards.
Cons:
- Weights are constantly scattered all over. They clearly don't have staff going around and re-racking / organizing the floor with any regularity. The floor is also pretty badly organized, so people often don't seem to know where to rerack their weights.
- Not enough 2.5 and 5 pound plates. There are maybe four 5 pound plates on the whole floor. People are constantly walking around looking for these because they don't want to increase their lift by an increment greater than 10 pounds.
- Equipment is rusty / creaky. This doesn't matter too much, but oiling a handful of the machines or tightening a couple bolts here and there would help.
- Too many gimmicky machines, not enough space for weight racks. They could really really use another power rack on the floor, and they'd fit it easily if they got rid of one of the lesser used machines.
