Just got a membership and this place is cool, I'd guess. The prices is higher than most places now. Just gonna give this place a try for a bit.
The best part about this gym: it is CLEAN!! It also has amenities so that you can freshen up after a hard workout. The location is super convenient as well
Staff is very nice and the equipment is in good working order. Plenty of cardio machines available and never have to wait. Usually, plenty of towels available. However, frequently no hot water in the showers and the gym is very hot. Only areas with A/C are lobby and locker room. Rest of the gym is cooled by portable fans.
This was really my only logical option for a gym in my area of manhattan while i'm here. I wish it wasn't though because it smells bad and there's barely any space. It's actually ridiculous that they call it an "ultra sport". Nobody maintains anything and nobody racks their weights.
So I've been going to this location for nearly 5 years...and before that many other gyms..the place was never that clean and since Crosby st location closed it's gotten worse...nobody washes their hands after using the bathroom and the equipment is filthy..at 3 30 am it is unsafe for women to be there because of the vagrants that are allowed to mull around ( this has gotten a bit better)...the me too generation has zero gym ettiquet and puts nothing away and stares at their phone for 15 minutes while utilizing a piece of equipment...the latest thing is there are no towels ( perhaps the staff should monitor the trolls in the mens locker room who need 15 towels to hang in the steam room)..i only keep my membership because it's open 24 hrs otherwise I'd be gone...this gym, like much of society, has been on a steady decline for the last 5 years...filthy filthy equipment and generally a rude staff ( a side from the guy that's there wed Thursdays and fridays at 330 am)....if you dont need a 24 hr gym I'd suggest another place.....
Cool gym and superb venue, but morning staff are among the stupidest people I ever met!
Hot, especially in the summer because of no A/C, smells like Mildew and crowded weight room. Dirty and dusty, no one ever cleans this gym. 24 hour fitness has gone downhill the last few years. Will be looking for a different gym

The staff there is not the friendliest or most helpful. You feel like you are putting them out of their way when just asking a simple question.
I enjoy the elliptical once in a while, looking out into the park has a serene relaxing effect. BUT on numerous occasion I have asked that the blinds be fixed,so that members can take in the beautiful park across the way;. I have heard other members also ask for them to be fixed. too! 6 months later...... NOTHING, I do not understand the difficulty in maintaining a facility.

Could be much better for the pr$$mium price. The whole gym is dirty, equipment rarely cleaned. Just look up at the air ducts and you will see where the air is passing through dirt, dust, and black mold into the gym. Lockerroom is rarely cleaned. Mold in showers & steam room. Morning attendant is rude and downright mean to patrons and staff.
Be very aware! they will try to steal your money in any way possible! I "froze" my membership because I moved for work and I was told I could have had it frozen for UNLIMITED TIME. When I came back I found out that indeed it was reactivated after 2 months without my permission!! so they've been charging me for 10 months even if I asked to have the membership frozen!!! When I asked to talk with the manager, he roughly told me it was my fault because I should have noticed it before not because they reactivated it without my permission...THIEVES!!!

When I went to this gym, they tried to double my fees from supersport to ultimate. Is that right?
I came in to use my Pass and spoke to a lady named Rhonda who was not very helpful. She first pulled up this sign which I checked the fine print on my pass and it did not say anything about this. Instead she offered that I could pay for $100 online for a week instead. I'd read the bait and switch reviews online and hoped it was something they no longer did but I experienced this first hand now.
I hope your goal is to turn away possible members 24 because that's what your'e doing

The branch manager of NYC 24 hours fitness incorrectly cancelled my membership that being paid by my company and he supposed to cancel my private membership. And today is the last day I need to terminate my private membership, if not I will have to pay for it.
The annoying thing is I have been emailing him the past 5 days (no response of course) and calling the branch 3x and they do nothing about it, only the manager can reactivate my membership.
So frustrating that they are so ignorant on their own mistake!
This gym is in dire need of a makeover! Water fountains are not functioning properly for more than a few months, gym equipment is filthy or broken for extended periods of time. Towels are infrequent and all every so often waterbugs appear from the leaks that sit there being gathered in buckets for weeks at a time. Get it together already. they great plus is the monthly charge is a bargain compared to the ok there gyms, but is it worth it? That's the question I asked myself every time I enter those doors.
It's crazy how quickly times change. Originally, I never chose to come here, but with the rapidly declining SoHo location, this Madison Square Park 24 Hour Fitness is now the best one in the city.
It's not too crowded, it has a first floor that gets natural light, and the equipment is well organized.
If you're a traveler to New York and need to drop in to a 24 Hour Fitness, come to this one.
Ok place to workout. Lots of equipment in good shape. Also, a decent size space to workout. Cheap compared to other NYC gyms.
I am a member here, I love the fact that I can go to this gym at anytime. My only concern is during the AM hours this gym has some suspicious people inside the locker rooms. Those same people stink up the locker room which sucks when the locker room and bathrooms can be quite dirty at times.

The staff is super friendly and it's a decent facility. Good trainers. Great classes.
I imagine this message will get tossed aside just as my previous one to the club manager did, but here it goes. I utilize the 24-Hour Fitness at 225 5th Ave. in NYC. My compliant this morning, but not my only complaint, is about the laundry service. Ever since I began using the laundry service, my laundry has only been returned on time once, maybe twice. Usually when I bring it to the employee's attention, there is some excuse about how the laundry service is late bringing it back. However, most of the time it is because it has been sitting in a pile in the basement for a few days, waiting to be put back in my locker. This is unacceptable. When all my items are back in my locker at the same time, it is nearly impossible to close it due to all the replacement clothes I've had to bring in just to make use of my membership. This morning was no different. When I first opened my eyes this morning, the first thought that came to mind is that I should not go into the gym, because when I show up and my laundry isn't in there, it is going to make my day start off in a bad direction. I should have followed my instincts. Because if there is one thing 24 Hour Fitness is consistent with, aside from being dirty, never returning my laundry, and almost never having clean towels put out, is that they are sure to let you down and make up excuses while they do it.
I have emailed the manager in the past, but never received a response. So, this morning, I will copy and paste this message, and send it to every single email I can find. If by noon today I do not have someone compensating me for all the countless hours I've wasted trying to fix problems with the services I pay for but rarely use without incident, I will walk downstairs, cross the street and cancel my membership. Lastly, I'm proud to say that I've kept roughly five people from signing up at 24 Hour Fitness. Moving forward, I will continue my efforts. Regardless if I am still a member or not.
Pretty solid gym in downtown Manhattan. Tis a tough business model for sure but with high membership fees, the equipment could be in a little better condition.
A big, clean gym with bright, full-height windows with a view of the park. Towel service, extensive array of equipment, all for a very reasonable monthly rate.
