Very good teachers and classes,not kept very clean in studios and class. areas ,am very worried with virus situation ,may avoid going here ,no wipes floors dirty old stains on floors

In a environment of more and more gym facilities, NYSC remains a real classic gym environment for those serious about fitness and none of the "frills". Been a member for 19 years. For those that felt it more productive to trash your gym facility, ask yourself have I really been a part of the change I seek? Have I practiced proper gym etiquette and contributed to my gym ? Anyone can walk in and request a printed copy of your Agreement. Within it, you will find reference to everything you complain about here. I know a different NYSC than most her and I'm here to #MakeitCount

Bad gym etiquacy, weights are thrown all over and you have to go searching which is terrible, they need someone on the floor doing the work to make sure weights are put back in place, they need more benches, i think they have 2? thats crazy, if they improved those 2 things it would be a really good gym.

It is what it is. Not very clean, you can barely get a smile from the staff, weights are always all over the place have to go an a scavenger hunt to find them. Still you get your $ worth of you wait for a membership drive for great discount

Disappointing experience. Usually dirty and the mens bathrooms is disgusting. Tricky promotions and hidden fees.

I'm continually disappointed and often disgusted by how poorly run this club is on 3rd Ave in Bay Ridge. No matter what time of day, the place is always a mess. Staff is never on the floor maintaining and tidying the space. Weights and equipment are always all over the place. I can go in at opening at 5:30 and the trx area is so covered with random equipment thrown all over that members have to clean up other people's mess just to work out. Why is this not cleaned up the night before?!

It's obvious the trainers and staff also don't care at all. I often see them step over the mess rather than address it, or worse leave their equipment out too. (Not to mentioned trainers eating while training people. Never could imagine such unprofessional behavior. You're helping people loose weight while stuffing your face!) There are constant leaks. Machines are filthy. Benches are broken and never fixed, posing a hazard to members who don't realize.

But today really frustrated me more than these egregious offenses. There was a sign at one but NOT ALL water fountains today that the water wasn't safe to drink due to city work. Ok. Understand these things happen. But why can't you at the very very least put this sign on all fountains! I drank from one before I realized. Not to mention, it would have cost you almost nothing today for what we all pay in membership and fees (and let's be honest you don't put any of that money into maintenance as you just stand by and what your facilities decay) to pass out bottles of water to your guests with an apology and explanation. Really cents on each guest to go and buy some cases of water at the pharmacy next door. OR at least send out an email for guests to bring their own water. So many more proactive ways to address this! And to top it all off when I asked the woman at the desk if the water was safe or not, again since not all water fountains were labeled, she brushed me off and tried to tell me it was Bay Ridge wide. This seemed to be a blatant lie. I cannot find one thing about this online. If there was a real water issue neighborhood wide, don't you think they'd be pushing out an advisory every possible way! I'm just in disbelief.

You have a monopoly right now, so you can hang on running a horribly run business that seems to not care one bit about their members and their day to day experience. I hope you realize the second another gym opens in the neighborhood, you are going to loose a huge portion of your members. How I wish any otherestablishment would open here that won't treat their paying members like animals. I'll honestly consider moving soon to find a place with any other gym than NYSC at this point. Blink or Planet Fitness come save us!

Very dirty!!!! Is anybody cleaning this place?? A few years ago this place was spotless!!! I guess there is a different cleaner, because it's just filthy.

This place is getting ridiculous. When I signed up AND when they advertise on their board, they stated that towel and babysitter service were included with the membership. I've been a member for 4 years now, the raised my membership twice already, I brought 4 persons and never get the advertise "referring credit" , machines are always out of service, towels are limited, and today I was told I need to have a "babysitter membership" or pay $10 extra for babysitting besides what am already paying which is a lot compared to other gyms with way better equipment. The only reason I did not cancel my membership up to now was because of the location, but today they went beyond absurd! I don't know what is happening with the management in this location, but they overbook classes as well. Speaking with other members I know am not the only person who feel this place is going down the hill. I know 5 people who either cancelled, or move to Park Slope location or switch gyms. I think that they take advantage of the fact that the location is good, but they don't seem to realize that people are getting way better deals at Blink, BAA, and some other gyms and that people is getting to the point where they prefer to commute further to get better service. And that says a lot. The only descent thing about this place is Emily at the front desk who is very helpful.

This place is moderately clean but it needs new equipment- both the weight machines that have missing pins, ripped vinyl etc. And especially the cardio equipment. Half the treadmills are not usually working and frequently only 2 of the 3 recumbent bikes work. Nice & friendly staff. I just got an email notification of a price increase at my one year mark as a member after I was told this would not happen. Probably going to rethink membership here and shop around despite the convenient location.

This gym is a 5 minute walk from my apartment which makes working out much easier. I joined during a promo as well so my rates can't be beat in my opinion. The space used to be an old movie theater and it still has the big ornate ceilings and stadium style set up in the weight area, which is a stark contrast to all the low ceiling claustrophobic basement gyms you tend to see around the city. I've been there early the morning, evening and weekends and it's never been too crowded so far. I'm not into classes but it seems like the ones they have are great as they are always packed. For what it is you can't go wrong with this location of nysc.

This place is pretty bad. They run out of towels often (which are also limited one per person) and the women's locker rooms are gross. Never cleaned, broken toilets. I have went to wash my hands several times and there was no soap. They never re-rack their weights, and the floors in the studio are always dirty. They are not on top of how they do business with members.

I canceled a membership with my boyfriend as an add on. They had the nerve to keep charging MY account for an add on because he didn't walk in and cancel. It's been over 2 months since I canceled and they are still charging me. He doesn't have a membership.....I do. So why should he have to walk in when I canceled both of our memberships? That makes no sense at all.

The manager Josiah is a joke, he keeps getting "promoted" to manage more stores which essentially means he isn't managing any 100%. It took me over a week to get in contact with him. When I spoke to him regarding my account he proceeded to tell me the front desk knew the policy and that's "what they told me when I canceled." Which they didn't. After I was on the phone with customer service they told me this man had noted on my account THAT DAY (after we spoke) he helped me cancel my account and I didn't cancel my boyfriend. Which is a complete lie he never helped me at all. The man is never even there.

His manager's name is Lawrence, another person you can't get into contact with. A manager at another club told me they aren't aloud to give his information out. Last time I emailed Josiah he never responded. How does someone so unprofessional continue to get promoted? This place is terrible on every level.

This is definitely not the fanciest or newest gym. Every time I walk in there are at least 2 or 3 elliptical or treadmills that aren't working. Early in the morning and late at night they are frequently out of sanitizing wipes. With that said, I love my trainer and I really like the uxf area. It is nothing fancy, but it gets the job done.

One of two Bay Ridge New York sports clubs. This one on 3rd Avenue is clean well maintained with a large variety equipment and fitness classes.

Early in the morning and late at night they are frequently out of sanitizing wipes. With that said, I love my trainer and I really like the uxf area. It is nothing fancy, but it gets the job done.

I had awful experiences with this gym! I bought one month membership and after this I went back home to Russia. And I told them that I am leaving. So now I figured out that all year every month they changed me. I even was no in the country. When I tried to talk with costume service they told me that they can't do everything with it. So 300$ I just have lost. That really sad and it shows how they care about their customers.
there are a lot of gyms in NY and I highly recommend you to pick another one!
