In a environment of more and more gym facilities, NYSC remains a real classic gym environment for those serious about fitness and none of the "frills". Been a member for 19 years. For those that felt it more productive to trash your gym facility, ask yourself have I really been a part of the change I seek? Have I practiced proper gym etiquette and contributed to my gym ? Anyone can walk in and request a printed copy of your Agreement. Within it, you will find reference to everything you complain about here. I know a different NYSC than most her and I'm here to #MakeitCount

This gym is old and the smell is really intense, they need to clean the vomit smell out of the green carpeting.

Equipment is broken as well.

This place is a fraud!!! First they advertise one year free trial period, then charge you for more then you signed up for! Make sure you are not fooled with tricky wording on the agreement. Please avoid the embarrassment of recommending the place to someone.

This is the most unprofessional gym I have ever experienced. The facilities and staff are 3rd rate. They wouldn't stop charging me after my membership was over. I tried to anticipate and stop the charges, but they would change their name every time. NYSC INC, NYSC, NYSC LLC, etc, etc, etc. Finally, I had to cancel my credit card of 10 years to stop the relentless onslaught of charges. My wife has a NYSC membership at a gym in NYC. Completely different!! If you are looking to join a gym in Bay Ridge, there are many other professional alternatives. Please do yourself a favor! Further, I gave them a one star review because they wouldn't allow negative stars.

NYSC as usually has great facilities. This one is okay. It's rather small and the equipment here is just okay. Its enough to get the job done.

It may not be the swankiest health club but it is conducive as an overall fitness place. Locker rooms AR carpeted kept clean. One of the major features is that in some areas of the city there are several New York Sports Club facilities. A few are open 24 hours. You have no excuse because there is a New York Sports Club almost anywhere. They maintain Fitness machines. If you need to use the club and go two or three times a week New York sports clubs is an exceptional value. They offer a one week free pass. There are several membership options that you can discuss with a club representative.

Thank you for the reviews. Was looking for a new gym since i am moving into the area in a few days. Definitely staying AWAY from this gym. Sounds like they are just scamming people out of money if they ever try to leave. No thanks

my sister applied NYSC membership for me (but I paid for everything) because there's a promo. I think its 15$ monthly. then after that, I'm getting charged around 25$ and higher than that the following months, annual fee is not included with that. I went to the gym personally to cancel my membership since I don't have time and the fee keeps going 25 and up. they said that I need to pay something for the next month and I agreed just to get this over. Guess what, I'm still getting charged until now. this is really a scam.

They are complete crooks and a scam of a business. There are so many other gyms in that area. Do not spend your money and time at this location.
P.S. The standard reply line is to contact your Business Director. Just letting you know that your business director refused to help and completely dismissed me.

Had a membership signed up for 2 days but cancelled because it was too expensive. The contract says no fees are due for the consumer within 3 days of cancellation. They still charged me for the fees of next month AFTER I CANCELLED MY MEMBERSHIP!!!! They yet refused to return the money back and refused my bank's claim of that money (which I was supposed to get back from). What a fraud!

Decent gym lacks some basic and essential equipment though only one lat pull down in the gym no barbell shoulder press rack. Some of the staff is very nice however the old lady there is a constant nag and buzz kill who will complain about you talking to loud or cursing she forgets it's a gym not a library

It's getting worse and worse. Horribly dirty, broken equipment and the saunas are too dirty as well. They forget that we are paying for a better service.

After confirming a termination of my membership in January they went ahead and still charged my credit card for the month of February. After physically going back to the gym in February they confirmed that it would not happen again for the month of March. As you might expect my credit card was charged again in March.
After speaking to a representative at the club for the 3rd time I assumed the problem had been resolved. To add icing to the cake they went ahead and charged my card again for the month of April.
For a gym with so many locations I am very surprised they would conduct business this way. It is unfortunate because I did not have an issue with the gym itself.
I will absolutely not be recommending this gym to anyone I know!

BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DO NOT pay debit/credit to this gym.. They charged me without my permission on the 15th of the month a 60$ maintenance fee. Because of this, i had a minimum balance on my bank account and had to pay Chase bank a fee. It gets worse when you try and cancel your membership and they make you wait 45 days...

Sauna is constantly "out of service". There are two upright exercise bikes only, but one of them doesn't work properly. Low shower water pressure. I will cancel my membership NYSC and return to Harbor. There are Sauna and Hamam, also a big choice of equipment

I go to Silver Sneakers 2x's per week. It is a great one hour workout for seniors. Invigorating not childish. Recommended.

I cancelled my 10 day free trial, in person at the gym, about 8 days after I signed up for it back in October. The front desk staff assured me that a note would be placed in my file for Angela the General Manager, who wasn't there at the time, to process the following business day when she would be at the office.

A suspicious $25 charge appeared on my credit card statement a month later. I called the gym and the front desk staff pulled up my account and noted that, even though a cancellation request was entered before the 10 day trial period was up, I was indeed still being charged because Angela the General Manager never processed my request.

Again, I was assured I would have nothing to worry about and that another note would be put in my file for Angela the General Manager to process when she would be in the office the following business day. I was even told that a note would be placed on her desk.

Unfortunately, I noticed more charges on my credit card statement today. I called to speak to Angela the General Manager to find out why I am still being charged a maintenance fee and these ridiculous surcharges when I cancelled my membership before the initial 10 day free trial expired two months ago. She chided me for not directly speaking to her back when I wanted to cancel my 10 day free trial, and instead told me that member services would help. Member services told me they couldn't do anything. Then, they told me that Angela the General Manager likely told me to call them so that they can tell me that it is up to Angela the General Manager to process cancellations and refunds. Member services confirmed that a a total of three cancellation requests were placed in my file as of today.

I tried to call Angela back, and she dropped my call as soon as the front desk connected me to her office's phone number.

I just got off the line with my bank, and I may now have to get a new credit card. This sports club is a preposterously fraudulent scheme that defies understanding. Angela the General Manager is inexplicably incompetent, rude, and self-righteous for someone who tries to run a gym in Bay Ridge.

I just got a phone call from the new NYSC 86th street location. While I didn't catch her name, the change in the General Manager's tone was phenomenal. My refund is being processed, and it seems Angela the General Manager has "moved on to bigger and better things".

Good look Angela the General Manager, wherever you are.

One of the cleanest NYSC and although it's on the small side for a NYSC, it has all the basic equipment. Locker rooms are clean and plenty of large lockers always available. Staff is responsive. Cons include the small size, strange layout (I would recommend a redesign of layout of weight area) and limited parking in the area. Large windows looking down to the street brightens the gym.

The 1 stqr is for their unfair and unloyal treatment.
We first joined for $30/month which was OK, and a few months later it went up to 40$ for no reason, we let that go, but then what completely ticked us off is that NYSC offered new members a $19.99/month fee!!!! We have been loyal customers who go around 10 times MAX a month to the gym and travel a lot and never thought of freezing months where we were out of town - It was not fair for us, loyal customers, to be paying $40/month and you inviting members for $20/month!

I now feel that it's a trick to get members in and then increase the fees little by little which is not nice at all...

I have been a member for a few years now and I see the quality dropping. Little by little, things are dropping off. The most important one to me is that so many of the precor elliptical machines have problems and none have been fixed. Out of 8, only 2 have working TVs, a requirement for me. One of the 2 doesn't switch levels smoothly and gets stuck. #24 is the only one that works correctly. I have reported one of these problems a year ago. They have done away with paper towels, trash cans near the sinks and showers. No separate shampoo and conditioner. It's all one bottle so if you just want to condition, you can not. The vending machine for cold drinks if I forget to bring my water bottle never works. It m ight work. The last time it ate my money, I gave up. I couldn't get a refund because you have to see the manager and excuse me but I do work during the day when the manager does so that's why I don't try again.

On another note I have only nice things to say about the staff, especially the tall woman with glasses who's lovely. She never fails to be helpful and friendly.

The gym deff needs to fix the elliptic machines... TV never works on them! Plus why the gym puts their "music" so god damn LOUD!!! I understand if u guys had something worth to listen, but all you put is some club adds and same songs over and over... Please FIX the machines for better cardio experience!!!

Me and my other friend made membership cancel appointment on date 7-11 5:30 and 6:00. We took our day off, and went there on time just try to get this thing done.

The front desk girl told us the manager left for 'emergency' thing, and she called everyone before she leaves. I checked my phone with no missed call in there. My friend was staying next to me checked her phone too. Of course she got the same.

So the girl wrote me this number to tell them what happen and I will be able to cancel it on the phone. I took this picture with my doubts(fortunately). I called the number 3 times and finally the lady picked up my phone call and I been told that I am not allow to cancel it on the phone :) but that was not it.

Then I call back to gym and tell them them to cancel the membership for me on the phone because it wasn't my problem to be unable to cancel it. So they let me spoke with the store manager, and she was yelling at me like:" I don't know what you talking about, I was here in the whole time, you either to make anther appointment or I have to hang up with you." Unbelievable right? People, look at here, I have no choice, if I want to cancel it, I need to make this stupid appointment and take other day off to go there and cancel it.

If I did not take this picture to prove We came to the club and we were on time. We are going to be the Liars!!!

2 days salaries , extra month of membership fee charged of two people.

Thanks New York Sports Clubs. You taught us how disgusting human being can be.
