As soon as I walked in I was greeted with respect unlike previous other gyms I went to like blink. People at the front desk were very positive checked me in and had no issues. While I was working out some of the staff were putting back the weights that some had left on the floor so other people can use them. Very on top of things
been here for over 2 years now and have been satisfied since day 1. maintenance is always up to date on machines and gym and locker room/ restrooms are always clean and smell sanitary. Thanks Melanie for making sure that im satisfied to ensure i remain a member for a long time to come!

Good enough but riddled with problems you wouldn't find at a nicer gym. Packed at peek times. Pool and hot tub is often visibly but not grossly dirty nor too packed with people. No towels for patrons. people don't care about keeping place organized so weights never in right place. Sometimes you need to search the whole area. Staff is indifferent and often on phones passing the time. On occasion, they are very friendly. Standard high pressure sales tactics. You better buy in because severing the contract is purposefully difficult there are 3rd parties that will do it for you. Again that's standard with franchise gyms. Haven't tried the individual training thing nor the basketball court. The court is not new-to-basketball-person friendly. Enjoy just enough from the gym!

Today was my first day back to the gym after having not been able to go since May. The gentleman at the front counter which I do apologize I do not know his name and the GM Harold di a wonderful job in making sure my re-enrollment went as smooth and as flawless as possible. Thank you for your urgency, and caring customer service. Definitely recommended for anyone looking not only for a great gym but a great staff as well. Thank you again.

La fitness is really huge. They maintain everything good and General Manager Harold was really friendly and he gave us good discount and he was really friendly and suggested us good membership plans
I'm just here to talk abt the HORRIBLE staff from the GM Harold to the Personal Training staff. I think I pay wayyyy too much money in total to be treated so poorly by the ppl who work at this gym! Last yr I had a bad encounter with Harold abt something I was told on the day that I signed up. He was very rude and arrongant, total A hole! They are the nicest ppl when they are throwing u a pitch but once u swipe ur card they don't give a crap abt u again.
DO NOT let them trick u into personal training. Their "master trainers" are mostly young people who look under qualified. For all the money u pay, they don't even provide a meal plan for each client, just some generalized sh*t. They don't care abt the clients at all, just ur money. I have had bad encounters with 2 of the trainers so far. They were very rude and disrespectful. They show preference to certain races and ethnicities. So if ur from DR, PR, Brazil etc you're good. To get out of ur PT contract they want u to pay 50% of the remainder which is A LOT. This gym cares all about SALES. Customer satisfaction is at the bottom of their list!

Good facility just needed few more simple apparel like pilates ball and free to use low weight hbc. Pilates Classes and some class for pregnant women would be nice as well.

I like this gym, parking lot is big, you get access to the pool, they offer child care, zumba classes, free app and wifi. What else can you ask for?
This fitness center cares more about robbing new members than the ones they con in joining. I swear it's like a car dealership with 20 different prices and haggling before you join then they throw in the nasty woods of unclean workout equipment and bathroom changing rooms. Feels like I'm in a gay bathhouse in there.

Just started 2 weeks ago can't complaint love the pool love definitely I love it it doesn't smell and all the space in that gym it's amazing don't feel awkward nobody's looking at you people mind their business and good equipment to work out with definitely I give it 5 stars

They do not have a sauna or glass rooms like other locations. However they make up for it with their amazing smoothies. The best smoothies ever. Whether you need energy before or after a workout, a fat burning smoothie to give you a kick while working out. They have it.

Everytime I enter I feel like I am with an extended family that are there to encourage me to keep on track with my future goals.
Great la fitness location. Newer equipment, big space and usually you can do what you're looking for.

Basic gym for this price range and location. The pool looks nice, and the facility is clean. Not much maintenance done by staff I terms of racking weights, cleaning etc. Not much interaction either. My biggest gripe is the lack of towels. It's almost like a slap in the face. So frustrating. Why even have showers?
TLDR:It's a trap.
If you are looking to lose weight or reach a goal, be careful as they will take advantage of that motivation to get you into a contract. If you have to sign something, don't listen to the sales representative. The one I spoke with lied to me, and since I didn't carefully read the contract was stuck in a contract 5 times more expensive than what I was told I'd spend. Since it was on the paper I bit the bullet and paid to buyout the contract.
The kids klub has helped me a lot with my daughter. All the girls there are so responsible and always looking after my daughter.
Today the Cleaning Lady entered the Males room at or around 8:20am while the room was occupied with naked/ half naked males. I mentioned this to the front desk and they only replied that she puts a sign up to let males know she is in there. This is inappropriate and policy needs to change. This opens the door for Sexual Harrassment. Overall the gym in nice spacious and convenient.

I usually lose 15 to 20 minutes of my workout just looking for the right weights. Not only they are never on the corresponding rack, people leave it all over the gym, literally. Yoga class - i do like the instructors - should never happen on a cold, filthy room. In more than one occasion we asked for a/c to be turned off (30 degrees outside) they said they couldn't because it was all controlled by corporate in California.
The only reason I give it 3 stars instead of less is because the Kid's Club is convenient and the girls that work there are great and patient.
Run of the mill LA Fitness. This is a new facility, but a lot of the same behaviors are present from other LA Fitness locations. Employees who sit behind the desk who don't have any interactions with incoming members. Weights are not put back in place, dumbbells are scattered throughout the gym. People use squat racks during rush hour times for 20 minutes on end, people do workouts right in front of the dumbbell racks.
The parking lot is another story. Its a bit of a free for all, no stop signs where there should be so people just blow by.
Don't go during rush hour and you should be fine.

I had an LA fitness membership in a different state and was a happy camper there for 4 yrs. So I decided to stay with same gym. Ouch bad idea. This gym does not emphasize reracking weights with equipment all over the place. No Sauna/Steam Room . There was a decent size ab/mat area and it was taken away to make space to sell juices. Bad idea as Gym is already crammed. the only positive I can say is the kiddy section staff is very polite and seem to do a good job with the little ones.
They do not like fixing their machines The machines been broken over 45 day Fuc k LA.
I joined this gym last year, and after I buy out my personal training contract I am going to cancel with them. The reason for my decision is because of a recent incident. I was having issues with my debit card, and I had to wait for a new one. Because of this issue, LA Fitness couldn't withdrawal the money from my account. When they called me about the issue, I let the employee there know that I would definitely make the payment in a few days once everything was straightened out with my bank. I spoke to this employee on Wednesday, and told her I would pay LA Fitness on Monday. The representative told me she would put a note in the system stating that I would make a payment on Monday. I kid you not, each and every single day after, different representatives called asking me for a payment. Each and every time I reminded them that I already spoke to one of their representatives, and I that I will make a payment on the date I promised. A.) The employees do not effectively communicate with one another. B.) For the past year, I've never had a balance. I communicated with them my situation, and they still harassed me for a $30.00 payment that was a few days passed due. C.) Clearly they do not value their customers, and treat everyone like a number.
I paid the $30 balance, but this situation left a horrible taste in my mouth.
If you are going to sign a contract the minute that you walk in then you fine..ive been trying to take the 18 day trial period that they promise and it's bologne!! They keep you in the desk area until you sign a contact.if you dont they delay and make up excuses not to grant your pass..then to get a day pass they make you sign a form giving them 12 persons info so they can harass and sign them with fake trial periods.. not for me..too much bs.
My son pays $340 a month with a trainer in this place. He enjoys the workouts and his trainer very much and therefore I'm giving it 2 Stars. The customer service and the front desk is appalling. During his workout he left his training book on the treadmill. He tried to call to find out if someone had brought it to the front desk. The woman that answer the phone placed him on hold the first time and never returned. The second time he called he tried to explain that he left the training book agenda on the treadmill and she did not seem to know what that was, told him to call back and proceeded to hang up again. He had to get in the car drive back to Kearny to get that simple answer. I tried to call back 3 times the woman placed me on hold every single time and on the last time I asked her to please not to place me on hold again and I was told she was talking to a client and proceeded to hang up. Not once she asked if she could help, not once she made the smallest attempt to be courteous. You would think paying $4,200 a year for a trainer plus membership you would have at least someone #Pleasant #professional and #courteous answering the phones. #Unprofessional Behavior and demeanor.. just #horrible

We both have memberships to another gym but wanted to take a look at how LA is.

Once the tour was done, we both were contemplating of signing up a few weeks later. However, the manager came up to us and tried to get us to join on the spot. I explained, I don't like making decisions on the spot and that I am under contract at another gym. When he realized he was going to be unsuccessful of signing me up today, he told us that this isn't the gym for us and proceeded to talk bad about us with the rest of his employees right in front of us.
That right there completely changed my decision of wanting to join their gym. Their manager is extremely rude, didn't care for us as people, and had the audacity to insult us because we didn't want to sign up on the spot. If you plan on joining the gym on the spot, they'll treat you great but if not, be prepared to be treated like garbage.
LA Fitness in Kearny is one of the larger gyms in the area, which is positive. They have a lot of machinery that rarely ever gets taken up for too long.
I, however, leave a one star rating because of the lack of cleanliness. The floors are always filthy, the mats are covered in shoe marks (I usually clean a mat before using it and every time I do my paper comes back covered in black grit), and sometimes you can still see sweat marks on the machines.
While having available machines and space is important to me for my workout, having a facility that cares about their cleanliness is also important. It's a health risk to workout in a gym that rarely gets sanitized.
Another thing to note is how aggressive the staff is in pressuring members to sign up for personal trainers (whom, as I've been told, aren't that experienced). They will hassle you from the minute you walk in until your cool down stretches on the mats. It's really annoying.
DISHONEST management who will LIE in order to get you to sign up!
Signed up early this year together with my husband and we specifically mentioned we might be traveling overseas for a long period of time this year. "No problem", they said, it was only $10/mo to freeze our membership for the BOTH of us. This was a deal breaker and we signed up because they guaranteed that price.
However, 3 days before moving out of the country we stopped by to freeze the membership and were told it was now $10 per PERSON. What?! That's not what we signed up for! So we said we'd rather cancel altogether to which they replied we had to come back during business hours (9 to 5 - who has time for that ?!)
The lady at the reception then said she would, as an exception, honor the $10 a month for the both of us like we'd been told. We said OK and now that we're in Thailand we discover a $20 charge on our credit card, which means we'll be paying $120 the next 6 months to NOT workout at LA Fitness... Thanks a lot!
The website doesn't even work so I can find an email address to complain about this so I'll have to make a very expensive phone call and I have no faith my problem will be solved. I wish we'd never signed up in the first place.
UPDATE: Just called and was told "$10 per person is the policy and to call back in 2 hours to speak with manager."
SCAM ALERT! DO NOT TRUST WHEN SIGNING UP, ESPECIALLY WITH A PERSONAL TRAINER. Signed up with a personal trainer who's named "JOSH". The charge was 200 per month, and i see no problem with getting his help for a few months.
But, after a few weeks, i was no satisfied with his help, no plan of any sorts, and his help was minimal. He showed no enthusiasm.
Wanted to cancel it, and get this..Oh my god, they told this personal trainer plan was a year contract...
Josh did not tell me whatsoever of this plan, and was talking with corporate about this, they then contacted him, and lo and behold! he said he did told me, (Haha...really?)
I will be contacting, and reporting better business bureau for this ridiculous nonsense. THANKS JOSH, you lying rat bastard.

I've never written a review anywhere online, but this place is a joke.
At first glance, the gym seems quite nice. It is well equipped with a nice variety of machines that are all relatively new. However, when it comes to the experience at this gym, it's quite miserable. In general, the staff is not very friendly or helpful. In fact, they're quite rude.
One evening while working out, there was a cycling class taking place. The music playing was so loud I swore I was lifting weights in a latin nightclub. We could barely hear ourselves think, let alone listen to our own music or have a conversation...and we were on the opposite end of the gym. When we kindly asked if it were possible to either close the doors to the cycling room or for the music to be turned down, we were told "you guys have Beats headphones, turn up your volume!" Are you kidding me?
Today, they had a DJ with massive speakers blasting music in the gym. This time, it sounded as though I was in a rave and once again, I couldn't hear myself think or listen to my own music. Im pretty sure 99% of people who workout at gyms prefer to listen to their own music. I asked an employee if they were running a gym or a nightclub and was told that it was "customer appreciation day." I sure didn't feel appreciated.
The crowd that works out at the gym isn't exactly the best either. The dumbbells and plates are literally scattered in every corner of the facility. The majority of the people don't seem to care to re-rack their weights. This makes it almost impossible to find the dumbbells or barbell you're looking for.
I travel for work and I've been to LA Fitness in Florida, Maryland, Texas, Arizona and California. This is hands down the worst LA Fitness that I've come across. I would cancel my membership in a heartbeat, but I like using my membership at other locations across the country.
Would not recommend this gym to anyone.
