Pretty abrasive, military-style instruction. Not what I'm used to and not what I enjoy. I've never regretted going to a yoga class until today.
Bikram Yoga Missoula is a welcoming community of fitness and friendship. The Bikram program is widely known for its health benefits. But the full restorative power is found in the many kind instructors and friendly practitioners of all abilities. The downtown location and parking are convenient if you're trying to squeeze in a class around work or social plans.
What a wonderful studio this is. I had been dropping in occasionally for a few years and just became a member in December. The variety of instructors and classes they offer (classic, 1hr, bikram blend, 26plus, inferno palates) provides the perfect mix. The teachers are always working to provide a good learning experience. A true gem!
One of the great things about Bikram Yoga is the consistency of quality between studios. However, this particular studio stands out from the rest in many respects not the least of which is a wet, cold lavender-infused towel being placed in your hands during final Savasana! It is really something to look forward to at the end of class.
I love this studio! I thought I would not do well with the heat, but it has changed my body and mind. There is a nice variety of classes, and I like the spread of class times available for someone that works 8-5. Some of the instructors have different teaching styles, but I've found that they all have something unique and valuable to teach me.
Also-- I used to wake up with back pain nearly every day, and hot yoga has drastically improved this. Highly recommend!
If you are going for a restorative "yoga like" workout, this is not it. It is essentially the same workouts as you would do at any hot yoga studio but with a lady standing in the middle (not working out) yelling like a drill instructor. It was not an enjoyable experience. I work 50+ hours a week and love hot yoga for the good work out and decrompression time. This is NOT that. I walked out half way through class. The staff also told me a towel was required and I needed to rent one for $2 but while in the class, I noticed that 50% of the participants did not have towels.
I've never been that interested in yoga before. Due to an overuse injury I couldn't run for a while and decided to try Bikram. It was brutal the first time because I didn't know what to expect and it is NOT gentle laying-around-on-your-mat-yoga (although you CAN do that if you want). But, despite my initial shock, I gave it another try and was hooked. It shaped and changed my body in such a short amount of time. It also taught me to meditate. It is physically and mentally demanding and the crew in this studio honor that for those of us that like to push ourselves. The studio is spacious and I love the natural light that flows in, and, as a tall person, I can actually stretch out!

A great studio with helpful teachers offering beginner classes for anyone starting out in Yoga or Pilates. The 105 degree heat is soothing on those cold winter days and a good twist to add into your practice to challenge yourself. After a couple weeks, I notice a difference in how I feel and an improvement in flexibility and balance. Thank you!!

Hotter than Amazonian lava!!

Horrible experience. The owner, Cheryl, was extremely rude regarding drinking water during class (which a friend warned me about). I had to leave early and she actually came out of the class to tell me it was disruptive and not to do it in the future, which is the first time this has ever happen when taking yoga. The facility is run down. There are stains all on the ceiling. I signed up for the 30 day pass but after two classes I will not return or tell people to stay away. Plus, it is ridiculous to pay $17 for a class when there are way better classes for cheaper in Missoula.
Really nice vibe and great, helpful teachers
The instructors are wonderful, each adds something different to the challenging hot yoga practice. I feel encouraged by the teachers and calmed, focused and strengthened by the practice. This has been an excellent practice for loosening stiff joints, increasing cardiovascular function. It can be very challenging to not push to hard in this style of yoga, it facilitates a discovery of self knowing the longer you stay with it. Recently added classes in pilates, core 40, and 1 hour are fantastic and fun.
I was first a little apprehensive about trying any thing like "yoga", normally preferring the weight room or mountains for exercise, but with a little coaxing from a great friend I had the experience of a lifetime and I'm not joking. I think of Bikram as survivor island, intense focus on the body to overcome the mind and edure the temptation to give up and leave the island. Its a work out for body and mind that refreshes the soul. After my Bikram I am completely relaxed refreshed and ready to tackle the hard week. I recommend going to any one from ages 6 - 110. Just don't give up in class and be a survivor too. There's a reward at the end!
Came here once. The facility was nice. The instructors and other members were snotty and I never came back.
