I have been a member of, or visited, many gyms in the Minneapolis area (LA, Lifetime, Los Campeones, etc.). Lions Gym is by far the friendliest and least frustrating to deal with, and I recommend this gym to anyone. Listed below are some of the pros for this gym:
1.This is one of the few gyms that have a deadlift platform.
2.This is one of the few gyms with DBs over 100 pounds (see picture below).
3. Extremely short commute for those in Robbinsdale, Crystal, New Hope, Golden Valley, Brooklyn Center.
4. Parking is available close to the building.
5. Open earlier on Saturday mornings than the chains (LA/Lifetime/etc.)
6. Personally, I think it is cleaner than chain gyms where people do not wipe down their equipment. *I also want to state that I sometimes frequent this gym after 8 PM or on weekends. I often see cleaning crews or even the front desk employees cleaning equipment and facilities.
7. The owners (Stephan and Leah) will know you by name and acknowledge you when they see you.
8. As a powerlifter, this gym has all of the equipment I might need. Plus, they continue to upgrade equipment.
9.A great way to support small/local business.
10. As I am moving to Texas for a year, I recently had to cancel my membership. There is no pressure sales tactics or judgement should you cancel. A simple conversation allowed me to cancel vs. LA fitness where you have to mail in forms to their headquarters and hope they cancel you in a timely manner.
11. There are no membership sign up fees. (Discounts if you sign up for 6+ months, however, no fees up front).
12. A great way to support small/local business!
