2 years ago I joined The Body Architect. At that time I could not walk down a flight of stairs without knee pain, nor up without getting out of breath. Now my life has been transformed for the better. I am participating in my very first 5k run! The trainers have done an amazing job in guiding me in my fitness journey. If you are looking for a clean, supportive and fun environment, then The Body Architect is for you.

The Body Architect has the most amazing facilities and a warm and nurturing feel. It's the kind of place where you fit in no matter what shape or size. With great views from the top floor, The Body Architect inspires you to get fit! I highly recommend this gym to anyone interested in having fun and improving their entire health - mind and body!

Checked this place out shortly after arriving in Portland and in need of a new gym. This isn't a gym, but it would serve as a great place to begin or continue a fitness routine.

The emphasis here is on group training, strength training with a holistic approach. The staff is friendly and welcoming and the owner herself gave us a tour of the facility and explained how they work.

My partner decided to give it a 15 day try and will likely join, but I've decided to pass: not only does it far out-price any other fitness facility in the area, (their most INexpensive plan plan is $99 per month. I was a member of the most expensive club in Manhattan and paid only $90), but what you're getting for your dollar doesn't quite seem to justify the cost, at least for me.

What sealed the deal for me was considering joining, but being told that we would both be charged a $75 "joining fee". Not only do I not understand the trend of health clubs charging "fees" to do business with them, I don't understand an owner having two potential new clients sitting in front of them, ready to sign, and telling them both that there is no family/household plan and/or offering any sort of 'two-for-one' joining deal. Why on Earth would you charge such an outrageous fee, particularly for two people considering joining your facility?

No family plans are offered and I'm not sure how many people they limit the 'group' training session to, which is what you get included for a $129 monthly fee. However, the group training sessions for the $199 per month feee are for 2-4 people, max, but that rate only gets you four of those per month. The fare schedule is a bit confusing as well as painfully pricey.

This is not a free weight type of place: more the style of a yoga studio which focuses on personal and group core training.

Facility is beautiful and open space with several treadmills on the top level. The locked rooms are nice, contemporary and clean.

The model undoubtedly works for some and I wish them the best, but the prices and that heavy 'joining fee' will unfortunately keep me away.

Fees at time of this review: General open membership: $99 monthly with a $75 joining fee - $129 monthly for general open gym membership with access to classes as well as the group training sessions, plus $75 joining. - $199 monthly for general, open gym membership, classes a maximum of 2-4 people for group training at no extra cost. Individual training sessions are $80 per hour. (ouch!)

Amazing fitness center with incredibly talented staff. Trainer is both experienced, technically competent, and intuitive. I have experienced an amazing transformation as a member. Upscale and worth every cent I have paid. Take the time to take care of yourself here. You won't regret it.

I love the Body Architect. I have been a customer for over three years. Often going there, I feel as if it was my own personal gym. It's never crowded, the facilities and equipment are top notch. The trainers and front desk assistants treat you like family and are very encouraging in one's quest to get in shape.

The new class gym (on the first floor) they just opened is awesome! The classes are challenging, and I have found the other customers to be friendly as well. Thank God the BA is in Portland!
