I was in town for the Portland Maine Comedy Festival and wanted to try to do something healthy while here, so I checked out Lila East End Yoga. It's a cute little spot on Congress Ave. It's a small room but very cool.
I took a Foundations course. Now, where I come from, Foundations tends to be a more beginner-style course. But I didn't really get the sense that this was really a beginners course. We were doing Dolphin within like, 10 minutes, which feels a little aggressive to me.
Granted, we weren't doing inversions or anything crazy, but the shoulder-focused workout was very tough, moving back and forth on planks and Downward Dogs, I don't know. I'm a pretty amateur yogi and I had a hard time keeping up.
I also felt like the instructor assumed I knew a lot more about poses than I did. I don't really know the names of some of them, and he kind of assumed I did, but it's all good.
Overall a dope little spot, it was a great workout, and even though it was exhausting and a little more challenging than I expected, I had a good time.
