Best yoga class of my life. Great corrections and focus on alignment. Lots of interesting and very high quality equipment.
This is a studio dedicated to the true practice of yoga. All the teachers undergo rigorous certification and teach yoga as it meant to be taught: as a healing art. David Yearwood, the owner, has over two decades of experience and teaches with precision, knowledge and humor.
My first visit to the Portland Yoga Studio was a feeling of returning home. Actually it was as though I had finally found my home. The studio is a warm, comforting place. The teachers share the gift of yoga with a great deal of patience and a deep-rooted passion. They are always in tune with the needs of the students, and each class seems to be tailored to meet these needs. I constantly look forward with anticipation to my next class. "There's no place like home."
My first real experience with yoga was in a free beginner class at PYS. The instructor (Stephanie) was extremely welcoming, patient, and friendly (traits I especially appreciated coming in as a complete beginner), the space was energizing, and I have been going every week since that day in July 2008. Stephanie's knowledge and ability to adjust poses for all levels is amazing. The atmosphere created by both instructors and students alike is open to and supportive of all abilities, while at the same time sticking to the strong yoga tradition. I have also greatly enjoyed class experiences with instructors Melora and Elaine.
Best Yoga Studio in Portlland!!! The building is charming and the instructors are highly trained. I specifically love Pamela's classes. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxing, but you still get quite a workout!
