Not really a barre class. This class was more like just a generic gym class with low weights. Think what is usually the warm-up in a barre class-- that's the entire class. Mostly just body weight squatting and lunging, adding some tricep kickbacks in here and there. Plus a little time down on the mat at the end. Virtually no time at the barre (my first class we were there for 1 exercise total; my second we were there for 3 total), and even then, it was just more squatting. Don't come here expecting your favorite barre exercises: no foldover, no arabesque, no hip swings, no pretzel, no waterski, no backdancing -- we never even stood on 1 leg! It's also quite boring because you do the same exercise for a *really* long time (like 10 minutes straight of back-stepping lunges). Also, the floor is HARD (like shallacked cork?), but they prohibit you from wearing socks unless you have the grippy socks. So it also HURTS to be doing everything barefoot on a super hard surface. I regret buying the new member 3-class special bc now I'm having to go back to get my money's worth.... [Note: it's possible it's just one bad instructor-- I ended up getting the same instructor both days, unfortunately.] [Update: the instructor for my third class, Amy, was substantially better. More Pilates movements, and she built more variety into each exercise so we didn't just do the same exercise for 10 min straight.... I've increased my stars from 2 to 3.]
