I'd like to share a recent experience I had with Heat Yoga & Wellness here in Louisville, Kentucky so others who enjoy yoga are aware of the business model and customer service offered at their studio.

In May of last year I found out I was pregnant. As most of you know, hot yoga is not recommended during pregnancy so I contacted Heat Yoga & Wellness as I had recently been gifted $150 worth of classes at their studio. I received an email back from Heat congratulating me on my pregnancy and indicating that upon my return I would be able to resume use of my remaining sessions. This was wonderful news! I was so thankful they were willing to work with me because as a first time mama I had a lot on my plate and as we all know, Yoga is NOT cheap :) I couldn't wait to get back in the studio in the Spring and work on my post-baby body. Did I mention I had twins??..

On April 2nd of this year I reached out to Heat to notify them I was now ready to start back up in their studio and inquired how I could go about retrieving the sessions my partner had purchased for me. To my dismay, I was informed that Heat has a policy in place that if you have purchased classes that run past their expiration date you then forfeit these classes. I responded back to this email apologizing that I had apparently misunderstood this policy in our original correspondence, but again reiterated it was my wish to retrieve the unused classes hoping they would extend me a 'first time user' pass showing good faith and quality customer service. Instead, I received a pretty strong 'No'. What they did offer me however was the purchase of an additional 5-class card, costing roughly $85 and assured me that after I made this supplemental purchase of $85 I could then use my remaining 8 classes. Now I am a pretty sensible person and typically look to compromise when put in a tough situation but I am sorry, you want me to do what? My mind was slightly blown at this point.. However, I decided to continue to give them the benefit of the doubt and politely reminded Heat that I had intentionally taken the time to notify them 3 months prior to my classes hitting their expiration date to avoid this exact scenario (losing my classes), and was under the impression it was not a problem. After several back and forth email correspondences with Heat, I could tell I was not getting anywhere and requested a refund. Below is the last email I received from Heat. Needless to say I will not be returning back and have yet to decide how I will pursue the refund I have requested.

Leah,

We do not give refunds. Our policies are posted and have been very clearly stated since our original correspondence in June of 2015. We have offered you an option that is obviously not suitable, however I have no intention of changing my policies.

I have no additional time to give to this situation and do not intend to revisit it. Best of luck finding another hot yoga studio that can meet your needs.

Wonderful instructors, a wide variety of classes/times, the yoga room is cheerful and uplifting, and there are plenty of parking spaces. I always leave feeling better than when I arrived - I've been going regularly for almost 3 years, 4-6 times per week. It's a great stress reliever and all around workout, and I've dropped a few dresses sizes. Whether you're a novice or expert, they make you feel welcome. I highly recommend Heat Yoga.

I'm sorry that the previous reviewer had an unpleasant experience, but mine was just the opposite with Shawna. She was very kind and accommodating when I had some health issues. I enjoy every class I attend and I still go to Heat even though there is a brand new studio closer to my house.

Balance, strength and stretching. It's amazing how good you can feel after a session.

I love this studio. Jennifer Farmer is super as an instructor. She makes you feel welcome and offers SOLICITED help. I am new to yoga, can't even come close to performing most of the poses and unlike a lot of other studios, Heat Yoga doesn't call you out in class or make you feel inadequate/uncomfortable. I recommend Heat Yoga of Louisville to anyone who wants to do yoga at their own speed/level without intimidation.

Great studio!!! Most pristine I've ever seen. Always feel very welcome and comfortable there even if I'm really out of shape and have to lay down half the class. Sometimes I feel like total crap going in, but I always feel like a million bucks when I leave!!!
