This is one of the best YMCA's in town. It is not as big as the Beaumont one, but definitely has everything that you need.
It is 50$ for registration and 50$/month after if you are over 25. I just turned 25 and I got the 30$/month deal and you can go to any of the YMCA's in Lexington for this. It is a pretty good deal for 30$.
It is at one of the main locations downtown and they have good parking spots. Though, it is hard to get a spot at evening times (4- 7 pm).
The gym has everything you need. The rowing machine is my favorite and this is one of the few gyms in Lexington that has it.
The swimming pool has 4 lanes and it is a good place to relax.
They locker rooms are clean and you can borrow a lock from the reception desk. The locker rooms have sauna and steam rooms (my favorites)
They have basket ball courts and heavy gym machinery on upper floors.
The best part about Y is you have various classes like Yoga, Zumba and Pilates happening throughout the week at different schedules.
i tried all the classes atleast once and the dance classes are my favorite.
There used to be a hip hop dance class (more fast paced than Zumba) which was fun. They stopped it for some reason. Hope it resumes in the future.
You need to bring your own yoga mats for Yoga classes.
Zumba classes are fun. I dance like an awkward sheep and yet I go, so there is nothing stopping you and feel free to go and let yourself out.

It was an alright place until I quit going and got charged 5 months later for a membership. I'm sure they keep old payment methods on file, but again, I hadn't been there in 5 months and didn't even use my card to pay the last few times I renewed my membership. Just disappointed they charged me the overpriced fee when I hadn't walked in the building in such a long time. Cancel your membership a few weeks before you plan on actually leaving, too.

It is not even close to the nicest gym in Lexington. BUT, they have most of the machines you may want. Lots of free weights, and a pool. The staff are kind and pleasant. It is not very expensive while being located downtown. The added bonus is it has a wonderful old school vibe that kind of makes you want to take off the headphones and converse with your fellow gym rat.

True "old school" Y. Multiple floors, older cardio equipment, small workout area but a lot of character. Used the facilities for a quick workout while on vacation. Staff were friendly

It is always hot in the 1st floor workout room making it uncomfortable to do my workout routine. I have mentioned this 3 times in the last 3 months but they must be concerned with cost or set the temp to the employees liking. And they NEVER turn on the fans, you have to ask everyone working out around you if they mind???!! They should always be on like every other gym in town.

Was just told by a staff member, "If it's too much to lift, then don't lift it." I'm not sure they realize what a gym is...

The High Street YMCA is a wonderful facility. I became involved in the silver sneakers program. The water aerobics group is very good! My greatest experience was the Livestrong program for Cancer survivors. I was in a class with "Mark". My waist went from a 44 to a 34. My energy level increased dramatically. I toned up a great deal. I am 68, and feel better than I have in years. I can't recommend the YMCA, on High Street, highly enough!

Easy in & out--good staff!

Staff is rude, unhelpful, and unfriendly and spend most of their time texting on their phones on the front desk rather than actually doing their job.
