Great walk-in experience! The studio had everything I needed (mat, bolster, blocks, etc.) Class atmosphere was very welcoming.

I happened to drive past Solid Roots Yoga and out of curiosity dropped in for a class. I was not remotely familiar with yoga. I immediately felt comfortable there. The atmosphere is simply peaceful. It has been nearly a year and the studio has become a part of my life. Practicing yoga not only gives me strength and confidence, but offers me a time for escape. This concept of 'escape' Solid Roots does well - create an atmosphere that can serve as a temporary relief from the daily routine. More than that, I have learned the art of carrying that peace with me when I leave. Time spent in this studio has been as beneficial to me as the combined effects of many other things I have done for my well being. With the varied financial options and the schedule of classes it has always managed to be of tremendous value for me. I'm still wobbly and awkward in many poses, but I have come a long way, and I am truly learning so much. I say this because in a review I believe it's important to note that this studio is for people of all skill levels. It really doesn't matter what you know, the instructors adjust direction on the fly based on the skill of the students and you find yourself coached into a pose you never thought you could do. I know people wonder about what it feels like if you are new to yoga, here's what I would say: you are not on display, the layout is not one that makes you feel exposed, the lighting is low and comforting, and personally I rarely think of those around me while I'm practicing. I count finding Solid Roots among the many blessings in my life.
I give one star mostly based on my experience redeeming my 20 class pass. I purchased a Groupon, (which was still quite a lot of money for me). I have several health issues that yoga helps, but I can't afford to return to yoga classes anymore. Upon redeeming my pass, I was told I had 2 months to use all 20 classes (I later found out I had 3 months? but still, a short period). There was nothing about this on the Groupon or the website. I ended up being able to get in only about 12 classes. With my schedule, yoga class once a week is what I can manage. When I asked one of the teachers about the short period of time, I was told 'it benefits people who can come several times a week, so they get their class cheaper'. I was appalled at this explanation, I paid for 20 classes so I should be able to use all 20 in a reasonable amount of time, like 5-6 months? People have lives and schedules can change unexpectedly. I think this is relatable since most of classes I went to had substitutes. Other studios I've gone to didn't have a time frame or gave plenty of time. I have been to several yoga studios over many years. Overall there was a couple of classes that I enjoyed and the teachers are overall friendly. I could leave more of a review, but I think this is enough to say about my experience here.
Started yoga at Solid Roots just after the first of the year and absolutely LOVE IT!!! The instructors are truly very knowledgeable and so welcoming! I love that they have such a variety of classes to choose from as well as class times. Thank you, Solid Roots...you've made this a truly wonderful experience for me!!
This is a wonderful yoga studio and community. As soon as I walk in the door I feel tension and burdens lifting and a sense of calm take over me. All of the instruction is top-notch. The schedule has classes for most people. The space is inviting and warm. I can't say enough good things about Solid Roots Yoga.
The Solid Roots Yoga studio has become one of my favorite places in Lexington. The instructors are very in tune and attentive to students. They respect any limitations you may have and work with you where you're at. I tend to take a lot of classes with Jessica. I appreciate her personableness, humor and passion for the practice.
One of the things I like most about Solid Roots Yoga is the peaceful and welcoming atmosphere the space offers. It has laid the foundation for a wonderful sense of community. From restorative to advanced classes, there is something for yogis of all levels.

I was thrilled when Solid Roots opened so close to home in South Lexington but had no idea how much I would lovd the studio and Jessica, the owner and an instructor. I have practiced yoga for over 10 years but health issues prevent me from being able to take the type of classes I used to. Jessica suggested I do restorative classes. They have helped ease my pain and nervous system and I adore Sam, the instructor of restorative classes. Jessica genuinely cares and has suggested ways to bring healing into my body outside the studio. She even told me when I was ready to try other classes again. Even though I was apprehensive, she was right. Instructors are mindful of students and make sure everyone feels comfortable and safe. They will offer modifications to anyone with injuries even if you are the only one in class that needs it. The studio is a welcoming and peaceful space and offers a nice variety of classes for all levels of experience and ages. I am so grateful for Jessica's wisdom and for Sam's guidance in the restorative classes. If you have never tried restorative yoga you should, even if you don't have any health concerns!!
