The MAC has always been excellent with their customer service. This is what makes them stand out above other gyms. They always have a presence at the front counter and their employees greet you upon arrival and wish you a good day when you leave.
Equipment: they have plenty of equipment to go around. And they keep it up to date and in working order.
Cleanliness: coming from a military background, I see a few details that could be better. The workout areas are well maintained, but the floor, specifically, need to be swept/vacuumed more frequently.
The shower area, locker rooms and equipment are kept clean and working to my satisfaction.
The group fitness is my favorite because the workouts are always different each class and the instructors are fun and relatable. They work to make each workout fun and effective. The instructors are always attentive to our needs: including modifications for exercises, encouraging us to work at our own pace, and connecting with us before and after class.
Lastly, they offer child care which is essential for my family!
I never regret a workout at The Midwest Athletic Club!
Really like that there is an area I can go to workout for only women. I often workout by myself, so this makes my workouts more enjoyable I think. I usually have the room to myself or share with one or two women. I can do what I want, without feeling like I'm in the middle of an arena. Discount through with really helped and I like all of the amenities and that I can grab a smoothie too.
WOW how did the M.A.C. erase my GOOGLE review? Had a big run in with the owner because she refused to thoroughly clean the pool on any regular schedule. She said it was up to the people to let her know when it needed cleaning. The Bio-scum on the walls was nearly consistent. Black dirt and sand all over the bottom and water. It doesn't help that they paint the bottom green so it looks sickly anyway. I had the water tested and it is high in METALS. I could post the results. I also have pictures of the pool that I now must REPOST. The personal trainer always overbooked, so she skipped out on a lesson that I paid for and never received. The MAC refuses to reimburse me for it. My husband is still a member and I have no hope they will reimburse him for the closure of the Co-Vid 19 situation. They could be closed for months while they keep billing him. This is greedy corporate America at it's finest folks! Just don't join the M.A.C. JUST. DON'T.

I enjoy the MAC and have been a member for several years now. It's really like a Third Place for me - home, work and the MAC. The Express locations are very convenient since they are open 24/7. I can walk to some locations and work out anytime. The gyms are much cleaner than others in the area. They really seem to be on top of that. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
My Third Place is really the MAC Extreme. From the indoor pool, sauna, steam room and hot tub, to all the equipment and resources, they have it all! I have met mayors, business and labor leaders, and many other interesting people there. The smoothie shop is excellent, serving the best protein shakes in town. I've used Jordan as my personal trainer at the MAC to help me reach certain goals. Overall, I would say check this place out!

The MAC has great equipment, several locations and friendly staff. I love that group exercise classes are included, and enjoy the variety of offerings. I like the MyZone fitness trackers that display your stats on screens. There is always a challenge of some sort to keep you motivated!

Whenever I try to come as someone's guest or to get a day pass they seem to give me a different price every time. Their prices for everything are ridiculous. The only nice thing that that they have a wide range of semi-updated equipment. I recommend going to iGym. They're just down the road from the Mac Xtreme and they have another location on the south side. And you can use the Mac Xtreme for free on Sundays. I have their VIP membership with unlimited free guest passes for just $20/mo.

I have been to many gyms in Cedar Rapids, aspen, gold pointe, anytime. I love the mac. There are always classes and enough equipment in rarely find myself not being able to use what I want when I want. The facility is clean and they offer discounts through work. Whole expendive if you don't get a work discount the new $25 one time fee for the card to the 24/7 gyms is an amazing deal. Many locations all through out so easy and convenient. I always find myself leaving duetonprive just to come back because it's the best gym and the best atmosphere in town.
Expensive. Customer service is really nice, but I hate paying $55/month for a very basic membership, simply because the Tama St location is most convenient for me, so I have to pay extra for that level membership. Most of the equipment in the women's section is outdated and doesn't function as smoothly as the other equipment in the public area (loud/squeeky/old). One of the stair stepper machines in the public area have been out of service for over a month and who know's how much longer it will take for it to get repaired.
The MAC is one of the most clean and professional workout environments I have ever visited. They regularly update equipment and keep everything in perfect working order. I workout for the purpose of physical health, not a social environment. This facility is perfect. You won't find a better place to get yourself in shape.
