My name is Kimberly Schultz. I am not some hidden "Google User". The co-owner named Chelsey Obbereuter requires the club members to decide when the pool is dirty so that it can be "cleaned". She told me to let her know whenever I felt the pool was dirty ( again ) and she would have someone "Brillo Pad" the Biofilm Scum from the walls of the pool for me. Really? This is my job? She literally locked out my membership due to me warning potential new members as to the nasty state of the pool. I was going to go back to Rockwell / Bender anyway....( so much happier now!!! ) but the idea of kicking out a member due to telling the truth is appalling so the public should know about it. I had been in the midst of personal training sessions and never received all of the sessions I paid for. The personal training is a waste of time. The trainer was always overbooked and I was often expected to warm up or cool down on my own since she was so busy with other clients....not to mention the cost is an overpriced rip off. I never received the tailor made workout program I was promised either. They refused to refund money for what I didn't receive. As for the Express? We were forced to watch 3 different Fox / Sinclair right wing based indoctrination t.v. stations while on the machines....no CNN or MSNBC was allowed. We requested it often but they wouldn't allow it I have pictures of the filthy pool that I am making public tomorrow. I will add a link to this review. This place should get zero stars, and it would if that was even an option. The desk staff is arrogant and rude. Stay far away from this place and join the YMCA.... or Rockwell R.C. instead where the class options are ten fold, the trainers are seasoned and the atmosphere is like a second home.

I started a month ago and found an excellent trainer (Tara) by referral . Her evaluation was focused on my goals with listening carefully she tailored an achievable plan based on my schedule and how soon I wanted to get to my goals. She keeps it moving but with the professional talent to make time move quickly, to get your monies worth! Her leadership background makes it easy to understand what she is saying and she knows how to demonstrate the training simply so you learn then get it done! Tara has already proven her value!

They have a physical therapy office inside that my daughter goes to and they stood behind the desk and watched her stuggle to walk with her walker through a bunch of snow and I had to shovel the sidewalk myself and salt it so she wouldn't fall, the lady behind the desk was pointless!

The cleanest gym I have ever been to. The people that go there are friendly and kind, as well as the staff. They don't openly share their prices but generally it's $60 a month to use any of the main facilities, it is a little extra to be able to use the main facilities plus the 24 hour ones because you have to pay for a special access key which is a one time fee. Plenty of parking in each main gym. The one on the Sw side is smaller which means it doesn't offer a pool but has absolutely everything else you could need to get a good workout in!

Bright, clean and open. Pricey, as far as gyms go. And the trainer's.....holy crap. They are very driven by their own opinions not much on sport/health science.

I work out at the MAC South twice a week. It is the least fancy of the MACs, but has a great variety of equipment, good hours, and a convenient location. A huge variety of free weights, decent selection of weight machines, and plenty of cardio machines are packed into this place.

I work out here 4-5 times a week. Plenty of cardio machines, some even against a back wall so I can hide my fat butt from the masses. Good cross section of clientele--I'm not the most or least out of shape. But no fans for air movement? Lots of free weights, exercise bands, assisted weight machines and even a scaffolding-like thing with diagrams for serious stretching. But no fans! Cardio machines all look out a huge window at an apartment complex so you can watch people drive their garbage bags down to the dumpster. Front desk offers smoothies, Quest Bars (yes!), T shirts, water bottles for purchase, body fat assessments, mind & body wellness programs & massages (or you can earn that stuff with points for attendance & referrals). Yoga and Pilates classes for extra. Tanning bed for $25 extra. BUT NO FANS. I transferred to Cedar Rapids from a Planet Fitness market, and their monster ceiling fans, as well as individual machine fans kept the air circulation and white noise levels high. They need that here. Otherwise, clearly, they have almost everything you'd ever need. Just seems like if PF can put in fans and massage chairs, a place charging 6 times as much should be able to. That said, trainers & front desk staff are friendly & helpful in choosing a fitting package. I started with the lowest price one--I think it was like $30/month. But i only got access to the Xpress locations for that package. In order to come to South & apparently some bigger location up NE (?), I had to upgrade. But now I can't go to Xpress--I can only go to the two staffed locations. Weird. Anyway...good place but not perfect.
