This place is so great that I do not know where to start...it has become a huge part of our routine and we are so happy to have found it. Needless to say, this review is long overdue. A couple of highlights:
-Amazing staff and management who really cares about inclusion and community. Staff makes the gym welcoming and safe for all climbers, particularly those who are new to the sport. In two years, I have never been rubbed the wrong way by a staff member. Management has continued to focus on making climbing available to a wide audience, including monthly adaptive climbing for differently abled individuals. There is even a new monthly "She Sends" group which offers fantastic instruction (really, I'm a bit jealous) to women across a wide range of skills.
-Route setters do an awesome job of keeping the walls fresh, clean, and exciting. Holds are changed out before they become worn down or slick (ew!). New holds are bought every months to keep things fresh. Routes range from 5.6-5.13b and V0-V9 with a healthy mix for all levels (generally concentrated in the 5.10-5.11 intermediate levels). Easily the best roped climbing in the region, with lots of top rope climbing and really great routes for new or experienced lead climbers.
-Management invests in facility maintenance. The place is very clean for a climbing gym. Bathrooms are cleaned daily, unlike certain other gyms that I have been to where they are atrocious.
-Free strength and yoga classes multiple evenings per week. Great instructors who tailor workouts to increase your climbing fitness and decrease injury risk. Full strength training area with cardio, racks, weights, dumbells, hangboards, and everything you need to push to the next level of climbing fitness. For the more advanced, there is also a campus board and a new Tension Board.
-Extremely welcoming and diverse climbing community. The strongest people in the gym regularly help out new climbers to achieve their potential. Never have I felt judged for struggling on routes at or above my skill level. Everyone is approachable and we have made lots of new friends in the gym. Member appreciation events and biannual climbing competitions are fantastic avenues to connect with the broader community.
