I am beginner to Ving Tsun and my experience here has been great so far! Sifu is extremely knowledgeable and also very approachable. The older students are good teachers, and it's always fun learning from them. Class hours are fairly flexible and are ideal for a post-work workout.

Sifu is a great treacher - very knowledgeable and patient. The school is set up in a way where new students learn from older students. All of the students are very friendly and helpful. It's a very positive environment that feels more like a community than just a school. I honestly am not a very athletic person but I look forward to going to class and learning more Kung Fu. Their hours are also very good for people who work late or are looking for an activity in the evenings. The monthly rates are a steal for how many hours you can spend in class vs a monthly gym pass.

Great atmosphere. Sifu is extremely skilled and knowledgable about Ving Tsun. He explains the concepts in a very personalized and holistic way. Everybody here is encouraging and fun to be around.

I have very little experience with martial arts other than a couple of intro weeks here and there. Based on my limited experience, I found this school to be amazing. The students are very helpful like a family always open to answer questions and provide advice. Sifu always works one-on-one with each student to measure their progress. These one-on-one lessons could cost extra at other locations I've attended. Unlike other schools, you don't pay to test for a new belt or put in so many class hours before you are allowed to progress. This program is all about working at your own pace. If you work hard, you can advance faster or you can take your time. I highly encourage everyone to attend an intro session.

I've been training Moy Yat Ving Tsun in different places on and off for over 20 years. I chose this school because the Sifu (Instructor) is very skilled and knowledgeable and shares that knowledge with all students. The experienced students are also very willing to teach and train beginners. The environment is warm, friendly and very diverse. Students are young, old, male, female, and children. They may be first time students or some have trained in multiple martial arts. Everyone learns and gets good if they train consistently. In addition to developing great fighting and self defense skills, you will get a great workout become healthier more self confident and a more relaxed and focused person overall.

This school is perfect for first time learners. I have seen skilled and seasoned martial artists continue to train here. It feels just like a family, the setting is very open and relaxed. People of all levels train together and teach one another, so there is very little pressure. Moy Yat is a great place to learn not only martial arts but also how to become more comfortable and confident with yourself. The Sifu puts his heart into this school and helps everyone feel like a part of the family. Try it, you'll be glad you did.

Really great learning environment with lots of one on one guidance from the instructor as well as friendly people willing to help you out. The school is open from the evening well into the night, and the relaxed informal setting lets you decide how much or how little you want to train. Because of the martial art's unique style it can take a bit of time to pick up when you first start out, but if you're willing to put in the time and effort the quality of the school along with the flexible training schedule can't be beat.

I've been training here for about a year. The learning environment is very adaptable: any student, with any degree of prior experience, of any age or body type, can thrive here. It is great for first-time martial artists, as you work intimately with very experienced students whose first goal is to teach you the principles of wing chun. But it is also beneficial for experienced martial artists, as the style is unique in that it ensures efficiency and effectiveness in combat. Most of all, there is a great sense of family and brotherhood here, which promotes growth not only in mastery but as individuals.

I've been a student here for 7 years and never have I seen a school that's as good as this one. Training is extremely flexible and detailed to the point that anyone would be able to understand. It has helped me grow and discipline myself in ways I've never thought were possible. The philosophy of the school is effective in every day life and adaptable to almost any situation. I feel confident in the training I've received and continue to receive from Moy Yat Ving Tsun of Tallahassee

This place is a must for every person to learn the art of self defense and discipline. The master (Sifu) is very unassuming of his skills and imparts basic training to his students in a remarkably short time and encourages development at a pace that is comfortable to the student. I make it a point to go to his school whenever I am in Tallahassee and having taken classes at this school I feel more confidence in myself.

Thanks to this school I have self confidence and a great control of my emotions. Kung fu is not just about self defense. Join this school and you will learn more than martial arts.

I had never trained in any martial arts before visiting this school - I decided to join about 5 minutes after meeting the teacher (Sifu). You go at your own pace, but if you want to progress quickly, you can train a lot - the school is generally open from 7:30pm until 1 or 2 in the morning, so this is a huge amount of time for the money. And you have access to Sifu - the teacher helps you develop your own wing chun - it's a martial art, so it is something you will make your own, with his help. When trying out schools - check on the students. A huge advantage of our school is that there are at least a half a dozen students who have been training for like 8 or 10 years - so you get the advantage of working with them and their experience as well as Sifu's. Whatever your goals, Sifu will work with you, and if you want to learn to fight this is the place to go. If you want to learn a martial art in general, you will be joining a great kung fu family. Also, the price is really worth it, given how many hours the school is open. I can't say enough good things - try it and see what you think.

The only place to go for wing chun. You won't find a more skilled and fun Sifu, and certainly not a cuter one. Class format is a bit different than I am accustomed to (for the better), having studied other styles. Practices run for several hours each night with students coming and going according to their own schedules and how much they wish to train. Relaxed environment full of friendly and helpful people that also allows for more training hours than would be available at a typical school for those willing to take advantage.
Wing chun is a high level martial art with emphasis on developing tactile sensitivity. This takes time and the learning curve is a bit steeper than some other styles, but extremely rewarding if you stick with it.

Training here is much different from other martial arts that I've trained in before. You are treated like family. Sifu Ying Hung is very accepting and treats every student with respect no matter what level of training they have under their belts. He really cares for his students and wants them to learn as much as they can. Students of every level are usually present during the opening times and are willing to help teach and better each other without hesitation.

This place is perfect for beginners with no formal training up to masters in Martial Arts. Sifu personally takes the time to teach you the philosophy of Wing Chun and then the skills needed to improve your Kung Fu. I thoroughly enjoyed learning and training here, these are skills I will keep for life.

I don't even know where to begin I'll try and keep this brief as possible. Being someone who participates in mix martial arts and boxing competitions let me be the first to inform you Training Wing Chun at the Tallahassee Kung Fu Center is the best decision I could have made when better my self as martial artist. You will learn quickly that the philosophy and training can be applied to any system but any system can't be applied to it. Thus making one more efficient causing one to focus more on the beauty of the dance (chi sau) and also teaching one to understand that truly less
is more.

I love, love, love, this place! It's very relaxing. It's not expensive like most kung fu places and training with others, is really cool and fun. The best part about it Is, You can learn at your own pace and you are never behind! Plus it's WING CHUN!

April 17, 2018 10:54

Getting off my couch and checking out this Wing Chun school was one of the best decisions of my life. Everything is done at your own pace. Anyone of any gender, age, and physique can learn Wing Chun, and this school is dedicated to teaching without judgment. The family environment is warm and welcoming. Regardless of if you join or not, I would definitely recommend visiting at least once!

April 16, 2018 00:47

The best school that I have ever trained in. Wing chun is healthy, effective, and fun to learn and the instructor is skillful and humble. I travel across the country to train here and it is worth it.

My friend introduced me to this school about 5 months ago and I'm so glad he did! I've been trying to find a good place to learn self-defense, and this is definitely that place! When I started, Sifu warmly welcomed me and explained the basics. He is kind, understanding, experienced in the art, and full of wisdom. I also cannot forget to mention how awesome the other students are! Many more experienced students help you and will explain moves and positions so you can actually understand why you do them. You can really feel a sense of family here. You go at your own pace, and the learning is very organized so you can track your progress. It's only been about five months but already I feel more confident in my self-defense skills. I definitely recommend this school to anyone!!

This is an amazing place to learn Ving Tsun/Wing Chun Kung Fu! Sifu Ying-Hung is a great teacher reflective of his great Kung Fu. I truly enjoy learning Wing Chun and receiving the benefits it provides, I'm only beginning my journey through the system and here I feel I have a solid foundation.

Like many others, my interest in Wing Chun was piqued by the movie Ip Man. I decided it was probably high time for me to get some form of physical exercise and learn more about my heritage and my culture. I was skeptical when I went to check it out, but went with it anyway. What I soon found was that Wing Chun is an amazingly efficient and economical martial art that doesn't emphasize physical strength or speed, which is attractive to someone like me who is small and not very strong. The theories and philosophies of Wing Chun soon had an effect on other parts of my life. I began to think about my body and the way it moves differently, my reactions became a little more fine-tuned, I approached interactions with other people differently, my confidence grew, etc. Most importantly, as a musician, the focus on the physical translated into music because I began to understand and gain a finer control over my muscles and over split-second timings, which vastly improved my playing ability and reduced the amount of time I needed to improve difficult passagework. Not only did I learn some important physical concepts, I also gained mounds of teaching experience. The school is run such that every student also teaches another student, to reinforce their learning. This means that everyone gets experience teaching and learns how to teach from everyone else, another facet important to me as a proponent of music education. This also means all of the more senior students have lots of teaching experience, and that everyone gets exposed to a multitude of styles and perspectives. It also helps that just about everyone who trains there regularly is a spectacular human being too, and I consider most of them very good friends now. The price for tuition is a steal, especially compared to other Wing Chun schools, the Sifu is a fantastic and battle-tested practitioner and just a hilarious guy in general. He's very humble and yet packs an insane amount of knowledge and experience inside his own small body. Honestly, I don't think there could have been a much better way to get introduced to the kung fu life. Highly recommend!

After training here for many years I feel my journey is just beginning. Despite feeling more than capable of defending myself after just a year a two of training, I have come to realize how deep the art of Wing Chun kung fu truly is. I honestly feel this depth of understanding can only be conveyed by highly skilled Sifu (Ying-Hung) and the unique training enviornment that Moy Yat Ving Tsun Kung Fu offers. By far the best place to train and attain a high level of martial intelligence in a fun and relaxing learning environment.

October 25, 2017 07:10

This is the place to learn martial arts, period. Pay a flat fee, train whenever and for as long as you want when the school is open. Sifu is personable, an excellent instructor, and wise. Members train with each other often and all take on educational roles. I could not imagine a better format in which to learn on my own time. You will not be disappointed!

You can start here at any age or at any level of physical fitness. There is no belt system or rank. There is only skill. This is a very practical form of martial arts where the focus is less on strength and speed and more on practical techniques of direction of force and joint angles which may sound simplistic but are very effective.
The best part of training is that its hands on from the first day. Everyone is here to have fun, learn and teach and Sifu (teacher) is very personable and down to earth.
