They gave the gym a face-lift and changed a few things around. The only thing that seems to elude these people is simple maintenance of equipment. Oil mechanical moving parts. Clean the first off equipment. Pure laziness of stupidity of owner and staff. You can catch most of them trying to look at themselves in the mirror.
This gym was somewhat redone. I started working out again 4 months ago after recovering from an injury. The place is clean and there's some pretty neat equipment.
I was inquiring about a membership with LA fitness. The manager was extremely Discouraging by telling me LA fitness is different beast compare to planet fitness. One red flag by that comment. Once I got a tour of the gym, the salesmen kept trying to pressure me into joining after I told him I wanted to shop around. He became Agitated with me not wanting to sign up for a membership. They offer me a free pass but by then I was totally turn off by management and the staff at this LA Fitness. I rather stay with planet fitness since LA fitness is a different beast
None of the ellipticals work they are all rusted from the bottom and have a "knocking" when using them. Weights aren't much better they ha e 2 sets going ng up to 120+ however I suggest getting more sets of commonly used weights. 20 - 45. Waited 20 minutes to get a 35 lb weight only set available was a pair of 15s....this during non peak. Been to a few gyms around and never had this issue started la because it's closer to my job...if this was a one time issue I wouldn't rant but this is a common occurrence.
My husband and I come to this gym almost every single day and yesterday our car got broken into while we were working out. We filed an incident report with the gym and the front girl was nice enough to call the cops for us. We parked on the north side of the gym, it's not like we were parked in a corner completely away from anyone, we were parked by the side door that their janitors are constantly in and out of, we've been parking in the same spot for as long as we've been coming to this gym. Anyways, when I asked if the gym had a security camera on that side of the establishment, they said no, which is crazy because even one of the trainers that came over to talk to me said that even when he leaves at night, he still gets freaked out because he parks in the same area we parked and apparently it's not the first time this kind of incident has happened. Coincidentally, another LA member was waiting for us to finish filing a police report because his car got broken into as well. Its mindblowing and disappointing that LA, such a well known gym doesnt have security cameras outside, you would think that with how much my husband and I pay monthly (and every other LA member) that they would have some kind of security, not even for members but for their own staff as well. Now I'm left all paranoid wondering if my car will be safe while I do something as simple as working out.

This isn't a five star LA Fitness like the one in Pompano on Federal, nor a two star location like the Oakland Park location. Instead, it's a location that is both convenient and bearable. Maybe if they love their members, they'll refab a little?

Work out here often, best to go during non-peak times (early morning or late evening) if you don't like to wait. Is two floors and plenty of parking.

Good gym.. It fits the bill if you are local in the area. This is an older gym that can handle a remodel. There are lots of equipment but most is old. The cardio machines could stand to be switched out. If you are local and belong to LA Fitness, this gym will fit the bill. But it is lacking compared to the Pompano Beach, Coconut Creek, Deerfield Beach and Boca locations.

This is my local gym, this Gym have sauna, pool, basketball, racquetball. Nice environment place to be to keep younin good shape.
Decent place to workout with a thoroughly diverse clientele...Past management wasn't always on top of things, but the current manager is top notch...

I trained there yesterday and wasn't surprised that clips were missing from the ends of cables on cable crossovers and functional trainers (dual pulley); that's typical of LAs. However, the rust that was prevalent in the free weight area was a surprise. All of the loading horns (and storage horns) on the Hammer Strength equipment were at least 40% covered in rust. Most of the Olympic bars had obvious rust. The collars on the inside of all of the Olympic plates were 80% or better lined with rust. And the dumbbell racks were covered with rust (along with dust, of course). This is so typical of most LA Fitness locations with absolutely no hint of commitment or pride by any of the staff. Regional and perhaps corporate wide leadership is obviously lacking.

I went here years ago and the gym was fine at that time. The machines wasn't that bad at all and it look really clean there as well. Had to get out the membership 'cause it was just too expansive. Not sure what it cost now for memberships for two. But at that time it was very expansive for the budget.
The Asian guy that works here is super good give him a raise
when u first sign up they're really pushy about getting a training session from one of their personal trainers, I had to tell the guy no like 5 times before he left me alone. the area with all the free weights feels cramped and it's always packed, it's hard to get a decent workout because of the tight space.. they also don't have any FreeMotion machines so that's kind of a bummer, I'm really on the fence about closing my account
Upon arriving at the facility my friend and I were greeted very nicely. The gentlemen giving the tour for the free one week trial, however, was completely nasty to us. His name was Shawn and he wrecked the whole trial experience. He was not enthusiastic, and it was an all around horrible tour experience with him. I do think the facility is quite nice though. Many machines, pool, hot-tub.
Don't get staff at LA Fitness; they act like they didn't have competition from other gyms.
Joined Crunch in Oakland Park and like it; staff is friendly& professional;
machines new - overall experience from Crunch is good.
Employee by the name Liliana in the Kids Club won't let you breastfeed your hungry infant or baby because "ew". She'd prefer you breastfeed in the dirty, germ infested bathroom. OH I forgot to add, this was against FL LAW.
BREASTFEEDING IS AN HONOR NOT A CRIME. THIS GYM DESERVES NO STARS FOR POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, HOSTILE AND RUDE STAFF AND HARASSMENT.
So my sister was harassed at this gym yesterday for breastfeeding my niece. She was told to go into the unsanitary dirty bathroom to do so. If you won't eat in the bathroom.then why would you want a baby to eat in the bathroom??? And so she left and feed her hungry child in her car before going home. On top of her and her husband's membership, they pay $30 extra for kids care to bring their children. I AM DISAPPOINTED with this gym and their uneducated staff. NO ONE CAN TELL A MOM WHERE TO BREASTFEED HER CHILD.
This is the worst location I've been. The gym is dirty and the the crowd would be better suited for the local community center. No one uses form, they just come in groups of 4 or more crowd machines egging each other to push more weight and then drop or throw the weights down when there done. This place is a mess.
I wish someone would read the comments and make some changes for the sake of the gym. This location has been neglected. Will probably loose members because of the poor equipment and smell.
This club is in need of a face lift. The carpet smells bad and as soon as you walk in the musty mold smell hits you. The spin bikes are the worst in town. I frequent other close La Fitness clubs and this location has spin bikes that are not working and/or accurate and don't even have foot clips that work. However there are no signs indicating which bikes work so you have to figure that out on your own. Locker room doesn't seem real clean. Hair balls on the floor for days. Very neglected.
Back in September the spin class met three mornings a week @ 5:45 AM
then they got rid of one of the teachers and for several weeks afterwards we would show up for class and the teacher would not show up. No notice on the schedule or the door. If I am getting up to attend a 5:45 AM class someone should tell me if the class is cancelled. Several of us called to complain and ask if they would try to replace or get another spin instructor. It went on for severals weeks. I still am hoping for the best.
I work early and only joined this gym to attend the 5:45 AM class close to work. On the Happy Side. I enjoy the classes. and the variety and class times. The receptionist always has a smile and is nice enough. Just wish that the equipment was updated like other fitness centers. Only been a member for a few months. But with the looks of things this gym might not last very long.
Closed today, Didn't let anyone know. Thank God for Planet Fitness. Some of the other reviews are kind of stupid. No cold water. Who wants to take a cold shower? Or do they need to drink water from the showers.
Terrible music? Well don't be so cheap and get some headphones. The smell? Smells like sweat. I think a real gym is supposed to smell like sweat. What do you want potpourri?
Super unprofessional people that dont take the time to check before saying no and trying to charge you more money. Also can't admit they were wrong or apologize for their errors! Wish I picked a different location and will try to change or cancel after this experience! Great way to treat a brand new customer!
Good location but very run down gym. Ever since the new pompano location opened, this gym has gone downhill.. beat up equipment. Super dirty.. no cold water in showers. And gym ALWAYS STINKS. Even during dead hrs. Sad because 2 years ago this location was not how it is now. Looking for new gym
