Honestly, I am very disappointed in the way management dealt with my situation. I signed a 12 month contract, months later they decided to merge gyms and move locations, which I was not able to go for months for personal reasons. So I continued to pay my fees as per my contract for months, even though I had not been to the new location. I was actually happy for them, the business was growing and they made the best decision for their business which was to move. When I finally got the chance to go to the new location, realized it took me an hour to get there from work and 30+ minutes home because of traffic and red lights (literally timed it). Whoever has driven down US1 knows the traffic I am talking about (from Bird Road to Brickell). The old location would take me 15 minutes home - no traffic no problem, reason I signed up. I reached out to management explaining my situation and requesting to cancel my membership because the distance was just not feasible for me anymore. Owner's response when I told him it would take me 30 + minutes to get to the new location "omg that's nothing in Miami! That's normal, I live in Homestead" - my thought, ok you are the owner and made the decision to open up a gym far away but its your business not mine. Then he said "when we moved, we made sure it was within minutes of our old location" - minutes the other way, farther from my house and work. "of our 150 member 2 were concerned about the distance before trying it out and both are attending members" - my thought ok irrelevant, how is that even an argument for me not wanting to drive farther away. "The facility offers triple the classes, triple the space and same rate" - again, Irrelevant to my case, that doesn't change the fact that I have to drive farther and be stuck in traffic - which I avoid at all cost. "We have to honor the agreements people signed or it wouldn't be fair to anyone" - AGREE! We signed a contract in a facility which no longer exists, so its definitely not fair to anyone! Everyone should have the option to opt out of their agreement if the new location is not reasonable for them. Long story short, be careful! The owner only cares about whats convenient for his business. Do you want to be tied to a contract with someone like this? It's not even about the money, because I only have 2 months left, its about the principle and this business obviously lacks it. The operations manager didn't even return my call to discuss my case. I guess I am just waiting for my final bill. RUN!!!!!
