I would like to amend my previous rating. I was contacted by the gym and am very pleased with our communication. Planning on taking my daughter to the gym for a trial lesson

Guro Juan is bonafide all aspect warrior trainer and adapting and learning what works all the time. Combat changes and so does he.
The future of Kali is in great hands with this Guro.

I'm and older martial artist, 64 to be exact, that has trained 28 years in multiple disciplines. Combatives Unlimited is one of the few places that I have ever found that teaches a full range of Martial Arts disciplines. Juan is a highly skilled and experienced, cross-discipline Martial Artist with a Special Forces military background. He is an excellent and thoughtful instructor who will teach you the techniques, details, and nuances of whichever Art you choose study with him. He has clearly spent his life thinking through what works and what doesn't work in real world self-defense situations. Truly an exceptional place to train in all aspects of self-defense.

So far so good. I was drawn to this place initially because it was the only place i found in Jacksonville that offered any kind of silat. Juan is an impressive instructor, i stick around because i respect his training. His website list his extensive background with martial arts and military/army rangers and it really shows that he is a serious and dedicated instructor that is well rounded in martial arts and significantly knowledgeable. I like that the classes are not too large, we are able to get more hands on training that way. If you like to be challenged and pushed to your limits then you will really enjoy his training like i do. 06/01/17 Update. I will keep my rating the same to be kind, however i will provide one piece of constructive criticism. When i joined i was only aware of one owner of the school, as time passed another person was introduced but it was never explained who this person was, i quickly realized this was a second instructor at the school. I would have liked to have known this information at the time of my consult. Communication is key. Although all instructors have received qualifications, some students may learn better and may be more focused depending on the instructor. This is nothing personal against anyone.

I have been training here every Monday-Thursday for the past 4 months and can't think of a single negative criticism. The classes are designed to accommodate people of all backgrounds and experience levels. The objective is, not only to train students to perform the art, but to be able to apply the practices in a real world scenario. The lessons are challenging, yet candid; and multifarious, yet confluent. The lead instructor, Juan Perez, is a brilliant master of the arts who possesses a wealth of knowledge, experience and achievement.

The instructor barely shows up to class, and he just charged me $100 even though I haven't trained at his gym in a whole year, whack!!

Hands down the best place to train if you want to be able to apply all your techniques. Juan Perez's knowledge and skill set is truly second to none! BJJ, SILAT, MMA, JKD, KALI, CSW, STX, and more (functional) street related and defensive tactics than you could possibly know what to do with!
