Overall I enjoy this gym. I enjoy the cast variety of equipment, and presentation and cleanliness of the gym.
The people who frequent this gym are inspiring for the most part and are great to be around.
My only real gripe concerns the staff. Generally speaking, there seems to be a lack of professionalism. Staff laughing at inappropriate times while talking to them or a lack of good customer service.

Gainesville Florida has a national treasure in the Gainesville Health and fitness Center. It is the finest facility on the planet and I have known the CEO and owner Joe Cirulli for more than 30 years. Worth every penny!

Absolutely first-rate facility! Excellent staff, extremely fair price and 24-hour access. I just wish there were more swimming lanes! But truly, I think this a terrific operation, all-around. (FYI, I am almost 73, but in basically good condition, and am NOT "paid" to say any of this!)

Definitely the most expensive gym. But it's 24/7, and has plenty of equipment. Some of it is standard stuff, but they have some very good machines to isolate muscles, as well as these unique negative machines that are fantastic.
Plenty of classes and cardio equipment, and the pool/jacuzzi/ice bath/steam room/sauna is pretty well maintained and a large area. The pool area is what got me to buy in, but having a basketball court and all the equipment is what really sold me on this place.
The place is usually on the busy side from 5 to 9, but outside of that the gym feels between empty and not packed!

While I am biased in favoring the floor instructors that never fail to provide me a top notch workout, it is no secret that the caliber of people that are hired here have the members' best interests in mind. From the J-Bar staff that never fail to make the perfect smoothie, to the housekeepers keeping the workout areas immaculate, I am truly blessed to have found such a wonderful community oriented gym so close to UF!

Most Wonderful health and fitness faciility. Environment of fitness minded people and SO many choices for recreatinal acitiiy, this is a great place to improve or maintain your health. I am extremely grateful to be a member of GHFC !

Great place to workout because it offers so many options! Whether you enjoy running/ cycling the cardio floor offers many options. If you enjoy HITT workouts and need that extra little push, GHF offers a wide variety of workout classes that you can complete with a coach. If you have a love for weight training and gaining muscle mass, the upstairs is comprised of many machines and free weights that will help you meet that goal. Other than that I love enjoying the pool and sauna/steam room on my off days. The employees are always super welcoming and helpful whenever I come to workout and always remember my name. WONDERFUL BUSINESS!

I had to move out of state shortly after joining. It seems to be a beautiful gym with state of the art equipment and top notch customer service. Deborah in particular was a pleasure, and she even managed to waive the $119 I would have paid to cancel the contract due to the circumstances.
The owner is respectful of everyone, and I admire that. As a young guy, I'm used to being blown off. He shook my hand, introduced himself, and showed me the behind the scenes remodeling of the pool, as well as answering other questions I had.
All in all, I'd highly recommend this gym.

Fine facilities, HORRIBLE customer service and expensive. AND THEY WILL OVERCHARGE YOU! Charged us an extra $100 when we cancelled our membership because they claimed we didn't pay the first month (so we were paying after each month for the previous month). Fought for 4 days showing them proof of payment on the first day.
Go to another gym.

It's a good gym, I haven't been to any others to comoacc thiugh. I chose GHF because of the pool as it's the only gym in town with a pool. I go there at about 12am and that's a oerfper time for me, however the last few times I've been there have been some things that concern me. When I swim I like to be on the edge, one slot was taken so I chose the other. The pool was also being cleaned at this time which didn't bother me...what bothered me was the fact that the machine was left unattended by the very edge of the pool. I had to move it away from the edge fearing itnwould fall in and electrocute everyone, the cord also got stretched a bit and two people tripped over it. Then when a worker finally came in to check on it she got a little annoyed by the fact that I was in the free lane that apparently had to be kept open for the ckeanicl machine? There were no signs...no way at all someone could know to notnuse that lane. I wasn't upset or anything, just confused. The women's bathrooms are also a bit concerning especially towards the back where the showers are. I swear there should be signs everywhere that says not to stick clumps of hair on the walls and wash the rest of their shampoo/conditioner away...

When I go and work out I don't need a reminder of what I can do and cant.. I feel like I'm not welcome!! I wish the app would have a reminder where you can set a time frame on when to work out. For an example hey it's 2:00 Don't forget to work out today . Something like that.

Gainesville health and Finance, is a joke, I called in to get details on becoming a member, talked to a lady she said she was going to email me details on the family plan, 3 hours later i called back to see what happened. Her response was the email got kicked back apparently she wrote down the wrong email, so i asked her if she also wrote down the wrong number, she said she didnt think to call. Then 3 days later i took my family in to sign up for a family of four plan, the 3 people behind the counter were all Bimbo's and didnt know how to do a new membership, I had tp suggest they call someone in member services. While waiting 15 minutes for member services to to assist us, and all the trouble trying to be a member, we decided the rude, untrained, poor managed, business of Gainesville Health and fitness was not even close to worth it. I thought maybe it was just me but after seeing the 3.7/5 rating and the other horrible reviews it makes since.

A very fantastic gym! I thoroughly enjoy being a member. I do dislike "the line" and the false sense of support I get from the floor trainers working it. I wish they seemed more sincere and genuine, rather than super happy and encouraging constantly - to the point of seeming fake. Other than that, it's a really great place to be!

Good place for exercise. They have a lot of machines and the pool and basketball court is accessible to everybody. Expect to see nudity in the locker rooms. Personal trainers are very helpful and care about you. If you want to lose weight or burn fat, you have to come here often.

Love this place! The Zumba and Body Combat instructors are amazing, full of energy and enthusiasm. The people at the front desk are super friendly. The locker room area is clean and spacious. I love going there!

I have not had pleasant experiences using the pool to swim either. For one thing, in the a.m., there are only a few lanes open due to the aqua classes. It looks like now there is a reserved lane for walkers and this only leaves 1 lane to swim in while the classes are going on.
Then when the classes end, the water walker continues to walk in the swimming lanes instead of moving to Lane 1 that is reserved for water walkers when the classes are not in session. The swimmers are cramped into 3 lanes. I've been hurt in the shoulder from being so cramped.
Over the last several months, one of the walkers and her friend use one of the swimming lanes and talk while walking up and down a lane. At no time do they offer to move over to the walking lane when someone comes to swim. Twice, in the past 2 years, I have had the same water walker stand in front of me while I tried to swim laps in a lane she was using. This is threatening behavior is physically dangerous and the only way I got her to move is to tell her I was going to speak to the manager. This is bullying and should not be allowed.

I only paid to join this gym to swim laps to get a good workout. I live about 30 minutes from the place. I used to drive in every morning. However, I no longer go due to the hassle of having to put up with members who fail to follow the rules of the pool area. There is one member who insists on walking in the swimming lanes for several hours and will not use the walking lane. I tried changing the time I went in the morning and no matter when I went in the morning, this member was there walking. This behavior encourages others to walk in the swimming lanes as well and then the space is limited to swim laps. I have spoken with the operations manager several times and the general manager as well. One reply was "I don't know what to do about it." I wonder why this one person is accommodated and allowed to continue to break the rules and ruin it for other members? A club should not allow 1 person to ruin the experience of others who are also paying to come there. If you belong to a club and you continue to break the rules, you should be asked to leave and not return.

Gainesville Health and Fitness Center is a great gym with something for everyone. Being in a large facility with multiple local locations, they have something for everyone and as long as you don't go at rush hour, you're not going to have to wait on equipment. In addition to free weights, machine weights and cardio equipment, the main center has a basketball court, lap pool sauna, steam room, cold pool (50° cold), hot tub, etc. As extras they offer personal and team training. There is free childcare and they have a physical therapy center attached if you have a need for that. To top it off, they are open and staffed 24 hours.

I have been a member since 2000. My payment has not changed since then. They have updated and changed so many times over the years. I remember the wireless headphones that you could get to listen to while biking or on treadmill. Over these years there have been times where I wanted to take a break from the payments. (not too often) They have always accommodated that. I would then start back at the gym and resume payments without penalty. I have paid the same amount for over 17 years. I am not on a month to month and could cancel anytime without penalty, but love this gym. I wish I would get my butt there more often. I have read many comments and disagree with a lot of the negative comments. 1. I can always find a parking place. It is funny because the parking lot looks full but there is room on the inside. 2. All of the staff have been happy and say good morning and are very helpful 3. The equipment is always in good standing order. The only thing that I would say is 1. get some eucalyptus for the steam room. I went to a gym in south Florida that did that and it was wonderful. 2. The pool does need a good cleaning the last time I was in it. There was some funk floating through it. I found it unusual, but it is true. Other than that I plan to always have my membership.

Best gym ever! I took my first yoga class the other day with Maggie at 6pm on Friday and it was intense and relaxing. Awesome teacher. It's a plus to have yoga classes and other options all in one gym.

Awesome place to work out. If you want to work out by yourself, you got it. If you need one-on-one, you can get it. If you want to work out in groups, you can get that too. I prefer group classes. You get your money's worth and then some. The group exercise instructors push you beyond limits you did not know you could go beyond. LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT.

Don't believe the negative reviews. Go and take a free trial day. I was hesitant because of the bad reviews so I went there to find out for myself. I intended to stay about 30 minutes, 4 hours later after touring the entire place which is first class, working out, swimming and relaxing in the hot tub and steam room I was ready to become a member. The staff and other members are friendly. Noone judges or stares at you and you'll feel very welcomed. I've seen EVERY type of person there: old, young, slim, fat, male, female. It really is a place for everyone to better themselves. I suggest you go and use the free trial and make your own decision.
