Moving to DC from California, one of the toughest things for me to find was a yoga studio I really loved. One that was challenging but gentle; one that gave you a great workout but didn't beat the crap out of you; one that offered a great sense of community, variety of classes, convenient locations, and awesome teachers.
I think I went to almost 20 different studios before I found StudioDC, and the search is over. This is my hands-down favorite studio in the area - whether you're in the mood for a gentle or restorative class, or feeling a little frisky with a heated power vinyasa, this place has the space and instructors who can pull it off. Highly, highly recommend Ryan's and Aly's classes in particular, but I haven't had a bad class there from any instructor yet.
The one knock on them has been (to this point) the number of classes offered, but they're expanding the schedule really so check back if that was your experience before. I can't recommend this place highly enough!
It's okay. I was not overly impressed.
I really wanted to like this place especially after the comments that I have read on the Internet. However, the heated room yoga really is stressful. In fact, just yesterday I walked out of a heated class into the cold and don't think that will be happening again.
I have been practicing at the Studio DC for over a year and have greatly enjoyed every class and the community of yogis. The variety of classes and teachers have continued to challenge me and I've seen my practice grow since I started going. My favorite classes are the heated classes, which always provide an intense workout and a feeling of accomplishment. I particularly like Katja and Ryan's advanced classes and Mimi's Saturday morning class, although every teacher has something to offer. I would recommend the Studio to any yogi at any level -- you will find something that you like! Namaste:)
I always love my time at The Studio DC! The instructors are hands on and welcoming. The classes are inviting, challenging, yet great for all levels. A wonderful neighborhood studio!
