This is my second go around with Gold's Gym, and I think it's safe to say that I will never be a memeber ever again. The first time I signed up for a membership with them, I lived in SC and had the worst experience with them. Fast forward a year later, I live in DC and low and behold, Gold's Gym is the closest gym to my house, so me being optimistic and hoping that a different location will result in a better experience decided to give them another shot. Worst Decision Ever! When I signed up I was told that it was non-contractual and that I could cancel my membership at anytime (I made sure to ask this several times). A few weeks into being a member, I decide that I want to cancel because the location near my house does not have the machines I need to have a decent workout. Because I'm still within my 30 day period, they tell me that I can still cancel but I have to meet with one of their trainers, attend the gym at least 8 times and then they will cancel my membership. So I do everything they say, put in my cancellation request and even call to confirm that my membership has been canceled to which one of their associates confirm that I'm all set and won't be billed on the 1st. So the first rolls around and they bill me for the month of August, I call to ask why and now the assistant manger tells me that I have to see their trainer twice (which no one told me) and that I only attended the gym 3x instead of the required 8(which is a completely lie). He also said that corporate declined my request to cancel my membership and that they will bill me for the next three months because that is their policy. Now keep in mind that this is supposed to be a NON CONTRACTUAL MEMBERSHIP yet they make you jump through hoops just to get out of your membership. Gold's Gym is the most dishonest institution I have ever worked with, if you don't want to be scammed and lied to, I suggest you consider another gym.
