Gym is pretty nice. Equipment is solid but not well taken care of. I haven't had contact with one single friendly staff there. If having a macho attitude is Gold's way, this location has achieved it.

TLDR: if you need to cancel membership, do it 8 weeks in advance.

I was moving out of town, so 5 weeks in advance I filled out paperwork to cancel my gym membership on 5/12. They waited till 5/20 to fulfill my request, conveniently 1 day after my billing cycle starts. The end result, I was charged for that month, and the following month, even though I didn't live in Arlington for that last month. I've called back multiple times to voice my frustration and to point out how it took 8 days to cancel my membership-- each conversation resulted in poor customer service and no acknowledgement of slow paperwork processing.

Terrible customer service!!!

I called in today 4/30/19 at 7:40 am and spoke a man name, Todd. I had a billing question. Todd was very rude, he displayed poor customer service during our phone engagement. Towards the end of our conversation, he transferred me without telling who he was transferring me to. I called back multiple times and of course, no one answered. I ended up going into the gym around 8:10 am today. Todd was stationed at the front desk. I asked to speak to a manager, he informed me that a manager will be in at 11 am. I ask why he did not tell me that over the phone before transferring me. He said because I told him he was rude over the phone. He is not doing a good job and was rude in person as well. I had a great experience with the other team members since I started at this Gym. I will not be going to this location ever again. My billing question was never answered.

This is a great location. Tons of cardio equipment and weights. Plus a spin room, trx equipment w a private squat rack/rig and group ex room. Always clean!

Pros: Good location; Has all the amenities...including a sauna.

Cons: nobody wipes down the equipment when they're done; Few TV channels (and even fewer working TV's) on equipment.

Worst managed gym I've ever seen. At least once a month the morning shift employee will not show up to open the gym, leaving everyone who wakes up for 5am stranded outside. This is a reflection on how poorly managed the gym is and whoever the gym manager is, needs to be fired.

Been going here over a year now. Not the greatest experience. Once scolded by an employee for a non-existent rule, for which management had to profusely apologize. At least two things are broken every week...water fountains, equipment, steam room, and now...in the middle of winter heat has been off for weeks with no attempt to move in heaters or offer an apology to those working out. Today I literally saw people doing cardio in their winter jackets. You get what you pay for, unfortunately.

Two weeks ago I sat outside the gym for an hour and a half because the employee who had the key didn't show up. This morning the gym was open but the parking garage decided to stay closed. This isn't the first time for either of those.

Once you actually make it inside, it's a gym. There's a class room, and a spin room, some locker rooms that are fine. There are treadmills and whatnot, and most of them work most of the time.

There are free weights, dumbbells, and machines. Most of the machines work most of the time. There aren't enough racks, not really enough benches. The plates are oddly bulky and nothing larger than 45 lbs, which makes it hard to fully load some bars or machines.

The dumbbells top out at 120, which is a bit annoying. They are organized now, which is a change from a year or so ago.

There are two platforms for Olympic lifts (also serve as a spot for deadlifts). Unfortunately, they're both not even close to flat. Weights will aggressively roll away if you don't block it. You will feel how uneven the floor is just standing there, and it will throw you off.

You more or less get what you pay for here. It neither costs, not provides, very much. It's a gym that probably has most of what you want most of the time.

I've been coming to this location for 8 years now solely to attend the TBC class with Dontez!
I moved to Kingstowne but remain dedicated to traveling to Courthouse just for his class!!! Best workout, great music, fun and he's been bringing the energy since I've been attending! As long as his classes remain on the schedule, golds will forever have me as a member!

I've been a member of this gym since it was Fitness First - best deal in town with its variety of group exercise classes (both morning and evening), equipment availability, cleanliness and free garage parking! I've tried the boutique studios in the area, and no class can compare to Dontez's Total Body Conditioning, a high intensity cardio/strength training workout. Make sure to take his class or snag him as a trainer and you will see unmatched results!

Decent gym with some good equipment and great location. I'm rating it a 3 not really for the facility, but because 98% of the gym customers are really just there to either sit on the equipment scrolling through their phones or store their phones and keys equipment around them. It has a tinge of entitlement usually reserved for people with servants, but these guys, and girls, are really just douchebags. Girls can be douchebags too, right?

Not a bad gym they have most equipment you can hope for. Facilities are well-kept save for the steam room which often smells like mildew. The staff is friendly and they offer a variety of classes you can take part in as well as offer personal training.

I joined Fitness First when I moved to the area in Fall 2007. I used the location at 7 Corners. I moved closer to East Falls Church and then made use of both the Seven Corners and Courthouse locations.

Of the stars, it's 3 for the location and 1 for the HIT class with Dontez.

I joined the gym for access to free weights, for a safe running option during inclement weather, and for the cross training/boot camp class. Fitness First offered all three at a very reasonable and competitive price. I can't/won't comment on the change in facilities under the Gold's Gym mngmt. I get more than what I pay for, and for the past 6-7 years, the single biggest benefit of my membership has been the HIT Conditioning class with Dontez. There are few workouts you can so do regularly and still feel sore and make gains. This class does that. It's a quick class, as intense or modified as you need to make it, and I'm very appreciative for it.

Now married, the Courthouse gym is a solid 20 min drive (compared to 5 mins to Seven Corners) and I still drive to Courthouse for the Dontez class. If the class were to end, I'd choose the gym closer to my house (it's bigger, is more accessible, and management is friendlier).
