This gym is to congested. It's only good for sitting in the steam room to relax. Sometimes I think people intentionally draws contact with you just to bump into you. Me personally, I strive to keep a good distance from people because most folks minds are corrupted by acting simple. They just do it a subtle way appearing to be mature and respectful. It's all BS and I see through it. I generally like to work out at the X Sport fitness gym in Merrifield, VA then drive to the King Street location just to relax my mind. Sometimes I have to go the extremes just to avoid B.S. for a peace of mind. The best time to work out for me is 12am-5am because it's less people in the gym. Despite this, you still have to watch out for the BS because it's random and annoying!
This review is for the lady at the front desk! I believe her name is Vida and she has curly hair! She is so sweet and has the best customer service skills! She greets everyone at the gym and everyone seems to love her. She helped me find some new supplements and even find me some new clothes! She makes me want to keep coming to this gym! Good job hiring her!
Sales person is a scammer. told if I Purchase 9 personal training sessions i will get a free membership for 12 months so I paid over $900 just to find out that i still had to pay for membership. I only used 3 of my personal training sessions. I will not give them a dime more and they can keep the rest of my money.
stay away from this Gym
Visited this place for a day and I definitely would come back. This place literally has everything. I can go there to study workout eat and more. Would recommend this place to anyone and everyone.
Great setup and lots of good equipment. Also, being open 24/7 is a major plus for those of us with odd working hours. It does get extremely crowded here in the evenings. Also, foreigners taking bird baths and washing their feet in the sinks is a nearly everyday occurrence.
Disclaimer:
I really did not want to leave a review for this gym because I do enjoy coming here however, I was getting nowhere with the people that work at the gym. When you actually get to talk to someone they are genuinely nice people they just need some serious training in customer service and the lack of communication between staff and customers is lackluster at best. Trying to speak to a manager is a struggle because they are either not there or too busy to talk to you. So then you speak with a regular associate that says they are going to handle it but they don't so you are back at square one.
The PT package that was negotiated came to $211 for four months, which is fine but I was told my membership would be $14.95 and I'm still being charged almost $40. I have asked to speak to a manager but that has not worked out to well for me. Instead I was directed to a regular associate and that hasn't worked out either.
The very first session i was scheduled to have ended up being missed (and I was still charged for it) because whoever put my info in the system but my emergency contact in as my number and when the trainer couldn't reach me he rescheduled another session with someone else. Then that same trainer just stopped working at that gym for some reason but no one at the gym felt the need to contact me to let me know. So I show up to my regularly scheduled session and ended up waiting at least 15 min while they figure out what happened. (He was a great trainer by the way)
I was patiently waiting for a consultation with a nutritionist which is something I was told I would be receiving when I signed up for my PT. It was not until I had asked about it three times that I actually had a consultation (almost 3 months after. Fyi, I just had the consultation yesterday). When I did have the consultation it was bitter sweet because it turns out that I had made little to no progress in my weight loss goals (which I could be partly to blame for that). However, the nutritionist was very nice and seemed genuinely interested in helping me reach my goals. He said he is going to provide me with a meal guide which is awesome but it would have been nice to have received that 3 months ago.
There have been a few more issues then what I have already mentioned but you get the point.
I cant quite figure out why this gym is so disorganized but it has definitely taken away from my overall experience with this gym. I am still going to continue to go because as I said before I do enjoy this gym but once my PT sessions are over I will NOT be signing up for it ever again.

XSport Alexandria has a great facility. They have everything you expect from a gym and more. Unfortunately their staff, specifically the sales team, are degenerates. I attended this gym a few times as a guest with my friend. As expected, they put pressure on me becoming a member. I was open and honest, informing them that I'm moving to Alexandria in a couple months and plan on joining around that time. I'm not sure if they needed to meet some quota but in order to get me to sign up on the spot the manager lied about waving initiation fees and freezing my account until October. My sales associate was Jordan. Signing me up should have taken a few minutes but due to his struggle to form sentences and poor typing skills I was at his desk for an hour. A few weeks later I was disappointed to find out that my account was not frozen. I had been charged for the month of August plus the initiation fee that was supposed to be waived. I called to get some clarification but was given the runaround. They put me on hold for 30 minutes. I called back and the receptionist hung up on me. I don't understand their sales tactics. They sacrificed a potential longtime member for a quick $80. its just petty.I'm wondering, has anyone else had a similar experience?

Unfortunately this seems to be the only way to get in contact with someone at Xsport - rather than waiting for over 20 minutes to speak with a rep. I cancelled my spa membership on July 2 and have since been charged twice for a spa membership I am not using. I would like to request a refund for the $100 that my account was erroneously charged. I will also dispute the charges with my bank, if need be. I find it interesting that my cancellation was never processed after I left a poor review of my experience with the staff at the spa. Not even an apology from the manager for my account being overcharged. I am very disappointed with this gym. Not to mention that I had a "free" personal training session with a trainer who didn't even show up. I am very disappointed with my experience at Xsport and wish I would've taken heed to the reviews both Yelp and Google. I really hope that this is resolved.
Great gym! People are always respectful and helpful. The gym has three floors. A cardio floor, weight lifting floor, and functional training floor. The pool very big. You wouldn't think so just looking in. I came to this gym when they had an amazing promotion. Buy one get one year free! Can't beat it!
I typically do speed training and heavy lifting. I try my best not to do this during peak hours. it can be crowded. Its the rush from college students and people after work. Other than that this is a must have gym in your arsenal of fitness. This place is open 24/7!

The facility and equipment is nice. Membership is expensive, but worth it if you work out alot and plan to stay in the area. If there's a chance you may move within 25 miles to someplace where you would no longer go to Xsport, DO NOT GET THE BUY 1 GET 1!!! They will tell you if you relocate that you can get a pro-rated refund. They will not verbally tell you about the distance clause of that contract.
Full-size basketball court is a plus, but if you don't get in with the regulars, you will wait over an hour to get in a game, regardless of the number of people waiting. Rather than forming teams from people waiting to play, many of the guys that have "next" pick up people from the current game instead of picking up someone unfamiliar. Not Xsport's fault, but it was one of my peeves with the members there.
Reps on-site have little ability to help with account issues other than signing you up. For cancellations, refunds, or other account changes, you have to call the corporate office. Corporate will make you wait A LONG TIME to respond. I've never held less than 10 minutes.
I cancelled my membership and they keep charging. Less than a day after I posted the bad review, I was contacted by Xsport. The gentleman I spoke with was very concerned about correcting the membership issue. He was very professional and polite. He fixes the issue and issued a refund. That turned a bad experience into a good one. Bravo!!
This gym is surprisingly expansive once inside. There are many amenities (including a spa) and a surprising level of equipment. One of the better benefits of this gym is it is always open and offers free parking. I can see why this gym is attractive; a variety of late 20s-mid 30s from all backgrounds frequent here to the point the facility almost feels like a local club (especially after work through midnight). People are staying on their grind. That being said, lighting inside is poor, restrooms are very sweaty and unsanitary, and facility upkeep and maintenance is only so-so. The multiple levels of pricing is astounding and will leave you in a dazzle.
This gym is a victim of its popularity. If you want something nicer, join a country club. This is a massive three level gym that's open 24 hours a day and yet the equipment is never torn to shreds or broken down, the entrance is always clean and clear, and the staff, including personal trainers, assist with questions and help. As a member of the gym before it actually opened, I can tell you all the popular gyms in the area have gone through this phase. Sport and Health, Golds, and Fitness First. I left briefly and now I'm back.
I came here once on a trial pass. The gym itself looked nice when you first walk in. There are 3 floors, but I did not take a tour of the entire facility. I took a group fitness class, used a few of the weight machines, and used the bathroom/locker rooms. It was a Thursday night around 6pm and the place was crowded. The main thing I did not like was the parking garage although they do validate your ticket. I did not visit this gym enough to give a thorough review but the fitness studio was a nice size and had a fan, and the machines I happened to use were functioning at the time. I do think they could step up the cleanliness as I did not see anyone wiping down equipment nor did I see wipes placed obviously throughout the machine area but this could be because it was my first time. There were also towels and single dumbbells laying randomly around. And almost all of the soap dispensers in the bathroom were empty. Just little things I noticed during the 2 hours I spent here.

One of the stand out gyms in the area. Operates at all hours making it open and accessible. The lighting and space makes is non-threatening and easy to use. Although generally underground, Xsport has good air quality. The crowd is motivating. The staff is numerous. Helps to have the option of spa, basketball and pool. Low points in my assessment are that the location is far from Metro. In addition, the cardio equipment could use an overhaul. Negative reviews seem highly personal and are not by people who like big box 24/7 gyms- not for everyone. Yes, with billing write via mail to their Illinois office helps very much. I always seek out corporate, then dealing with local management.
I will never even think about coming back to this gym again. I wasn't a member and will never be. I just walked in this gym to ask about the membership plans. The lady in the front " short-dark skin- short curly hair-with glasses" asked me to fill up an application and put my email and phone number then wait for someone to come and explain the membership plans to me. I said: I don't wanna fill up an application. I just wanna know how much are the monthly payments for your different plans or if you have a paper explaining the plans I'll just take it and read it later. All of the sudden one of the stuff his name is Ramy interrupted us in a very rude way saying the membership is $49.99/month sir. I was like do you have any other plans. He said "If you don't wanna fill up the application so that's all what we have. $49.99/month"
Then I said thank you I don't want it and I walk out and I'm glad that this happened before I'm involved in a membership at this awful place.
DON'T WAISt YOUR TIME AND GO THERE
I came here not to work out but to do a promotion for an energy drink company. The staff was amazing shout outs to Adam Remy Abe and Mike who are all amazing and pumped up my event. I was nervous going in at first but the staff is amazing. Some of the members are very nice too. Overall great gym it is huge but there's alot of people who attend. Sometimes feels humid due to the pool . They also have a b-ball court. I probably wouldn't workout here but if you like the livliness then enjoy!
Nice gym overall, lots of options regarding equipment. It is a popular spot though, so Saturdays and most weekday evenings are pretty packed. Facility itself is for the most part well kept. Restrooms are generally clean and there spray bottles by each equipment station for easy self service cleaning. More often than not, the hand sanitizer dispensers are empty, but aside from that, there is not much to complain about when it comes to this gym.
This place is absolutely AMAZING and the staff work there butt off to keep it eye appealing.... the GM Adam Jelinek is a TRUE man of his word...if you have any issue he is on it as well as OM, Dan Pizzaro. These guys work around the clock to get Xsport back to where it's suppose to be. With theses 2 guys in, its almost a BRAND NEW GYM all over again.
I was a member of Xsport Fitness in Alexandria for awhile, but I decided to cancel my membership because I moved. I had to go into the gym to cancel my membership in May 2017. 5 months later, I had realized that I was still being charged for the membership. I called and asked why, and they said there was no record of my membership cancellation. So, after many many hours on hold on the phone and many emails, I finally got someone to look into it. It took multiple times of me contacting him for him to finally tell me that my refund had been rejected. I went into the gym to re-sign my cancellation so it could be submitted again. It is now January 2018, and I still haven't received any refund.
Update to my previous review, the gym improved quite a bit in the weeks after the initial post. It would seem that some scheduling snafus led to inadequate personnel being on shift and the gym wasn't being cleaned until the normal day shift people arrived. This was according to a trainer I see there on a regular basis. Since then the towels have been cleaned up and the entire area is much cleaner. The locker rooms are in order and I see multiple people attending to any messes left over night. Overall the gym has improved and I'm happy to say it's back to being worth my drive in from DC every morning. I'm hoping the improved appearance leads to all of the clients taking an active roll in keeping this gym nice. Good recovery!
very disappointing with their service, the pool is still not open after a gas leak. They cant give you an update, The escalators still not working . Rude staff your members are paying so can stay open. be nice have some kind of update for your members. Don't answer the phone its all about you and cant answer anything
I joined this gym about 4 years ago when I lived next to it. A little over a 2 years ago I posted a pretty bad review including pictures of the condition I found it in one morning. To their credit I was called by the owner of the company and she assured me that the gym would become a better and cleaner place. It did and thankfully so. The management was changed and the gym became a better place to workout. Fast forward to this past week, for the three days I worked out at the location I found it in a terrible state. The lower weight dumbbells were strewn all over the three levels of the gym it took me 20 mins to locate the weights I needed. There were towels EVERYWHERE. Towels piled around the edge of the basketball court, piled around equipment, every corner of the locker room and all showers had dirty wet smelly towels piled in them.
This morning was the last straw, I arrived at 4:30 to find the gym covered in dirty towels, one young man at the desk on the computer and a group of 4 young (very young) teenagers sleeping on the massage tables on the mid level. I'm not sure if they were members but from their ages I can't assume they were. They skulked around the gym for the two hours I was there and it was a little concerning that nobody from the staff questioned them. When I went to use the bathroom in the men's locker room I noted that the same fecal stains adorned the toilets I had seen earlier in the week and can only assume they aren't being cleaned ( I went to use the upstairs bathroom which was at least cleaner by a little).
By the time I left at 7:00 there was not one towel picked up and the gym was still absolutely filthy there were 30-40 people working out, having to locate equipment and maneuver around the towel piles. In the past I had seen an army of staff cleaning and tidying up by 7am. These past few weeks I've seen one if not two people working in the early morning.
The last review I wrote had pictures but since there is a posted "No Photography" policy in the gym now I've followed their rules and left it to your imagination. I know it's up to all of us as members to police ourselves, place equipment back in its place and put towels in the bins but this place has gone south and fast. People take no pride in their gym since the staff take zero pride in its maintenance & cleanliness.
If this review gets to the owners again please feel free to contact me since I've misplaced the contact information you provided me. We can talk over the issues I've seen. As a loyal customer I'm sickened by the level this gym has gotten to. Thanks for reading. -N
Great Gym. Clean and with good options to vary your work out. Good schedule of Classes too
Gym patrons DO NOT put weights away. Looks like a spoiled 3 year olds' play room in here. Watched several people put weights down and walk out of the gym. LAZY ASS people in here. Gym is nice tho.
