I like the gym and location but i wish they did a better job at keeping it clean. The equipment is always broken. I hope they can start cleaning up better and working on the equipment. People there are awesome though great environment.
I'm back here once again. The employees are great, they're nice, and welling to help. The place looks great too. There are a bunch of treadmills, and stairs, an ab room, cycling room, dance room, sauna room, a pool, and an area for free weight training. They have it all. Love it.
Update: it's been remodeled and has a totally new look to it. Cant wait to see and upload em.
I been part of this great gym since 2014, it was a great gym that offers great classes and affordable prices. They charge you a yearly fee for maintenance which I understand goes for repairs and overall providing a great gym. In the last 2 years the gym has gone downhill, they never fix the machines and unfortunately I am canceling my gym membership. I just feel like they don't care about there members.
When I first walked in I was amazed at how welcoming front desk was. She told me her fitness journey and motivated me to start mine. Every morning my son and I can't wait to be greeted by her before we exercise. We absolutely love Laurae and our Inshape experience!
Wish the sauna room was bigger, sometimes it feel like a can of sardines. Too many ppl. in such a little room. Other than that, love it.

The gym environment is good, the water in the bath is too small, the bathing takes too long, it can be washed in about 6 minutes, and 15 minutes is not over! Hope to improve!
The gym itself is 5 Stars, All of the employees and trainers from Hector, Sophina (Great Trainer for both men and women) and Xavier who recruited me from the grocery store, all 5 Stars. However, I do have a big issue with their policy. Other than the YMCA, this is the only gym in the city with daycare. My whole family was willing to sign up with In Shape, but, their daycare has a rule that says, even if you have a membership and are paying the $15 per month for a kid to come to daycare, you MUST be the mom/dad with a membership to qualify for daycare. This is a big issue for me and my family because, my wife and I babysit our grandson while our daughter goes to school. The only way for us to be members is if we were to be able to make use of the daycare services. To make a long story short, top level employees could not do anything to help us out. Therefore, they ended up losing our business to their competitors.... The YMCA of Santa Maria.
Being a business owner myself, I am certain that if they really cared about getting our business, they could have found an alternative way to make this happen. That really bothered me. I (myself) ended up joining anyway because I like the gum so much, but, I am not there as a happy camper.
If my certain circumstance does not apply to you, then by all means, get a membership at In Shape.

Best gym in town :) my family and I have been members for about 8 yrs! Always friendly staff!
My husband and I joined the gym 5 months ago and we have really enjoyed the experience and the trainer. Jennifer has provided advice and specific training appropriate for our age and physical conditions. It has made a difference in our every day lives. Great place.

Super clean, great amenities. Warm pool, tons of classes, tons of equipment. Nice locker room. Go train with John Dato!!

I've been a member for many years they have enough of what I need to perform my daily workouts. Good machine selection, free weights, usually pretty clean, mornings not too crowded for me. Some staff mebers are pretty cool.I wish they enforced members to re-stack their weights and stop excessive weight slamming/dropping (so annoying). Sometimes Music is too loud and not the best selection but we all have our own headphones. Drinking water could be better ( I drink a ton) members who spit lugies in the fountains need to be kicked out. Wish they added a heavier punching bag for kicking but the small one works fine. Overall I enjoy my gym and happy to be a member. I recommend it.
My experience with In Shape Fitness has been incredible. I hired one of the trainers Jennifer Lankford, for specific help with my recovery from meniscus surgery. I was miserable and in pain, and after I met with Hector the manager, I hired Jennifer. After only 4 session s, I am pain free, and in the process of rebuilding muscles! I am BEYOND thrilled and so thankful that the staff here knows how to work with individual needs. I have been miserable for 1 year!!!! My home town club in Santa Maria has helped get my fitness life BACK!!!!
Great equipment! Big gym with a fun atmosphere. The daycare workers are great!! Love that there's 2 separate areas for small and big kids.
Great staff. Class schedule is great. Hours are fantastic. Only drawback is sometimes showers take forever to warm up and age restrictions are not adhered to

In shape gym is a great environment for those who are trying to make a lifestyle change. The membership is affordable and they are doing promotions constantly that offer free water bottles, shirts etc. to those who continue to check in. They have multiples of the same machine so you rarely if ever have to wait for the machine you want.
I am extremely happy with the personal training department. You get a free session when you join and Hector did a great job explaining the program and the benefits. He paired me up with Alyssa Holder and she is fantastic!! She has an endless amount of energy that keeps you motivated. She helped me set goals and continues to make sure I am sticking with them. Her workouts are always changing to keep you interested and are customized to your level of activity. Not only does she help me during our sessions, but she keeps in touch via text, Snapchat, and if she sees me at the gym she will always say hi and check in with me to make sure I'm staying on track. In shape and Alyssa have provided an amazing support system for me and I am happy to say i have lost 15lbs and am excited to continue with Alyssa on this journey.

Training sessions with Alyssa were tremendously beneficial and the results speak for themselves. I feel anyone committed to exercise will find a friendly and helpful environment at In Shape and they'll effortlessly help you achieve your fitness goals
This is a pretty good gym. Staff is friendly. The reason I only have 3 stars is the spa is being worked on a lot and there is no steam room. The membership price is probably one of the cheapest in area for what you get which makes it 3 stars and not lower. I personally like Western village now but it's more expensive

I signed up with In-Shape about a year ago, and I enjoy the size of the gym and the amenities (tanning, pool, sauna, child care..etc). About 6 weeks ago I decided to hire one of the trainers I had seen at the gym 5-6 days a week over the past year. Over the year I have been there, I observed each of the trainers and I liked this trainer particularly because shes a female, and lifts heavy. I hoped that she could help me in recovering from my gallbladder removal surgery in time for a physical agility test for police academy, as well as help me with performing compound lifts with better form. I waited until I was about 6 weeks post op, and hired her. When I hired her, I was SO weak from surgery, and had 0 stanima. I really doubted that I would get to a high enough level of fitness again, in 6 weeks time. However, Alyssa Holder helped me accomplish my goals, and actually surpass what my ability was pre-surgery! I hired her for 1 hour a day, twice a week. During our work outs, Alyssa made our time together fun and never once made me feel inadequate, and was always professional. When I did struggle, she was able to encourage me by sharing how she related from experiences in her own life and fitness journeys. I set out to hire a trainer for fitness goals, and ended up feeling like I made a friend in addition. Highly recommended.
