Its sad I've been going here for almost a decade but finally decided I couldn't deal with the filth any longer. I finally terminated my membership today. Its so dirty I thought when they remodeled it would be better. But it slowly just returned to being run down broken and dirty.
I have been a member over a year, its good gym, but some users in the locker room are a complete disaster and make one wonder if they have ever shared space with other humans. Hygienically very very poor. but great staff good gym.
The building looks decrepit, then they asked for an extra fee to enter. Because they're an 'Active' gym (supposed to be better lol). Dont go here.
Out of all the 24 hour fitness this is by far the least kept. Always dirty and change rooms are shocking. I've travelled a lot so like the super sport gums but I have no clue why this is a super sport. First time in over ten years I've looked at other gym membership. Equipment is broken so often. Sign in picture saying will be fixed today has been there over a week.
Great staff and a good selection of equipment, if you get the 2 year deal at Costco it's the best price in town by far.
Highly reccomend the 2 year flat rate membership through Costco. It's nice not having to stress about maintaining fitness and financial goals at the same time. Plus they have introductory discounts on personal training sessions.
There is always room for improvement, front desk needs to be train on customer service, not attentive on wellcoming customer, some times there are 2-3 front desk attendees on there own conversation ignoring to at least say vhi or have a good day. Tendency to ignore minorities, yes. Old weights machines, yes and not lubricated very very common. There is a water fountain in the free weights not fixed for about one month (their answer is that a part to be fixed has not arrived yet...we get thirsty by the minute, come on!!) Grouchy customers, on a daily basis. Music not inspirational to work out. Mornings cold AC. Not warm. Smelly restrooms. Hopefully they can improve the quality of the weight equipment and personel. Be careful(more at night time)of parking your car in bank side parking lot, once some one broke into my new car they don't have cameras on that side.

Downloaded the 3 day trial membership to try this place out since I'm new in town and need a gym. When I got there they said the 3 day free trial only works with a santa Cruz license. Hard to get that when you just moved to town 2 weeks before! Luckily my friend I was with was a member and could pay to let me in. Went to change in the locker rooms. Floor was really wet and the whole room smelled really strong of urine. Only one water fountain in the whole place? I'll just go to in shape in Capitola since they were super friendly, easy to work with, and had a free trial deal.

The parking lot always had 5-8 homeless campers, Van's, and cars loitering in the back lot. Gym never really takes action on this which is frustrating. The parking lot smells sooooo bad. Worse than a portable toilet. I think some campers dump their toilet waste there. Its sooooo bad I have to cover my nose when I park and walk inside. Gym lacks sanitary cleaning professionals. Great classes, and good location to me otherwise. I overlook those issues for fitness, but really some changes need to be made!!!!

Won't let you sign up unless your address is local . even when you have lived here more than a year. And just haven't got the new address changed on printed DL but still updated at dmv with tons of verification . I think they are pretty snooty yuppie snobs running that place
VERY POOR
The facility is always FILTHY. Seriously bad, they pay a husband & wife to clean for 3 hours heach night. 2 ppl to disinfect this entire facility?! Impossible. Additionally, the sauna and steam room are down 2 out of 5 days. No joke, in the last year, at least twice a week I am unable to use the facilities that I have paid for. I am very nearly done. Staff is friendly but entirely useless.
When I was thinking of signing up they told me there was one day a week when I could bring somebody in with me for free which was one of the big motivators in my decision to sign up. But apparently they don't actually do that. Either the employee lied or doesn't know the gym policies. Either way, it's super unprofessional and I feel slightly ripped off. Also locker room and showers are dirty and the steam room stinks
Did the staff actually lie to me when i joined?
If you find yourself dying in the hospital trying to deal with billing they will not care that they just overdraft your account. They will not work with you. They will basically leave you for dead while eagerly taking money you don't even have. Perhaps health is not what they are about.
I was hesitant to sign up for a 2 year commitment for a slightly better price do to medical issues that might have me moving into the hospital at any moment, but I was assured I could cancel if I moved without fees at any time.
Unfortunately enough I wrecked my car as well as ending up in the hospital. Medical expenses had me tapped and while I'm waiting for 50 bucks in my account from a friend so i could pay my phone bill they charge my account. Even though I used my PayPal debit card when I joined I said I would be paying in cash each month as I don't always have anything in it. An oversight of course I think I should have called them but it slipped my mind. Only when I do call them nothing is resolved and I can't cancel my plan with them without exorbitant fees.
Definitely not recommending 24 to anyone.

Was there last week, and showers were out of order, there was missing drywall, and mold all over the ceiling and wall. I have talked to alot of gymrats and they all say that "The soquel one is the worst managed in the bay area" and it's a dump compared to SJ
This gym has only 3 operational showers in the men's locker room and a broken sauna, yet they charge exorbitant fees. Good riddance
I enjoy that when i go at night most of the time I can get the equipment I need that day. But the renovation was pretty basic, would have been nice to see more arm machines or pull back machines. Grips are all gone or torn on older machines, could use more hand held grip options and variety. The new night cleaning crew is doing a great job though!

Excellent place to do you work out. Whither it be on the state of the arts machines or workouts in the pool. There is hot tub, steam room and chacuzi. Large locker rooms. 1 negative , the Handicap shower still isn't working properly.
Friendly employees.
I wasn't sure what gym to join in Santa Cruz at first, but I have been very happy with 24. I definitely like that I can go there anytime, they have a great class selection, and I've never had a problem getting a machine. It is a great range of services and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
Nice facility with a swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, and all the free weights and cardio equipment you would expect. There are always lockers available, and it's not overly crowded. The yoga and spinning classes are challenging as well. Now if only I could get myself to come more often, I'd be able to justify continuing to pay the pricy membership fees.
Good fitness classes available, typical machines, not usually too crowded to use the machine you want. You need a membershio but can do a free 3-day trial. Tip: get your membership at Costco for a way better deal. Just make sure you know which type to get (Costco offers two types, and depending on the 24 Hour Fitness both won't be accepted).
Solid gym with just about everything you need. Never have to wait on cardio, rarely wait on machines or weights. Good pool and saunas. Locker rooms really cramped and shower area could be cleaner.
Good 24 hr fitness, but it's called a supersport. This is quite small for a supersport and actually use to be an active. So keep that in mind.
This was the dirtiest gym I've ever seen. I was visiting family and have been to quite a few gyms in San Diego. I went to shower once and there was hair everywhere and they didn't look like they'd been cleaned.
Machines and equipment old and facility laid out awkwardly. If you go at the wrong part of the day all of the weight machines are in blinding sunlight and the front room gets very hot.
They were doing a promotion to get people to sign up for personal training so it was very busy and the staff were overwhelmed with talking with all the new people.
No wifi? Seriously, in 2017?
The muffler shop has wifi.
Cool space, big, multi-level. The elliptical's are an extremely stripped down model that I'd never seen before. No calories burned, just time and heart rate. The first one I got on had a broken hand grip. Four T.V.'s on the wall but they are spread way out. And one is tuned to that extremely annoying 24 hr. Fitness video channel that constantly reminds you of the old bumper sticker: "Corporate rock still sucks."
Overall the space suffers from lack of maintenance. Duct tape and insulation hanging off the duct work. No excuse for stuff like that.
The weight room equipment is adequate but very worn. Reminded me of the stuff you'd see in an old boxing gym in Oakland. Lots of worn off paint and deferred maintenance.
Same with the men's room, very worn and past the point where cleaning it would make a difference. Although it would be nice if they cleaned it.
But, with all these things said it was busy, so maybe the members don't care?
The no wifi killed it for me. When they told me that at first I honestly thought they were messing with me.
