If I could give 0 stars I would. I'm absolutely livid. I went to City Sports on Cherry in Almaden (San Jose, CA) for the first time ever this afternoon because my parents invited me to come work out with them. They both signed up recently and are currently active City Sports members. So I wanted to see if it was worth signing up too. My mom was told by the sales staff at this location to have me sign up online for a guest pass (valid for 5 days). I did just that, and took my guest pass voucher with me into the gym with my parents to work out. 30 minutes later, I left, furious because my time had been wasted and I wasn't even allowed to use the gym facilities as a guest at all. Upon "signing in" I was separated from my family because I was told by the receptionist that I needed to be "greeted by someone." That "someone" was Monica Lira, a sales-person who sat me down to give me a very aggressive sales-pitch about the gym and to understand my health/fitness needs. Monica then walked me around the gym and back to her desk to go over pricing and pressured me to sign up. From the get go, I was clear that I wanted to see if the gym was for me and to get a few work outs in first before making a decision. Finally, after 30 minutes of hard, aggressive sales tactics, I was told that her manager, Robert Smith, "might be able to give me a guest pass." I refused, and told them that I was very unhappy and turned-off by this shady bait and switch sales tactic. I was promised a guest pass for 5 days (per the website) and instead I wasn't even allowed to try the gym at all unless I signed up for a membership. Absolutely ridiculous. I decided to leave because I was so frustrated by how my time had just been wasted. Now, both of my parents are going to cancel their memberships too because no one in our family wants to support such an unethical business. Stay away from this place.
