They have month of granularity, regardless if you want to put membership on hold or cancel. And is VERY cryptic how they communicate. I cancelled on Feb/14 and I was told depending upon payment date, upto 30 days will be charged. My payment date was 3rd of every month. And got charged for one more half month in Mar/3.
Be careful, they DON'T count upto payment date. They count FROM payment date to 30 days.
Another for hold - visited them on Feb/5 to out membership on hold. Guess what - since I was 2 days into "trap" I have to wait for March/3 to out on hold. Decided to cancelrather adhering to such non-practical policies a week after (Feb/14).
Ended up paying them 1.5 months of membership without using a day!
I doubt if I am returning back here again.. this was 2nd and last chance.
Why 2 stars? Well facility is nicer. But losing 3 stars because they are very impractical.
John is one of the personal trainers and does an amazing job. Very friendly and welcoming.
I love being a member of the Y. Recently they invested in a circuit of electronic weight lifting machines which renewed my interest in going to the gym.
Great place to get fit and strong. No bodybuilders hanging around showing off.
I recommend the Southwest YMCA without reservation. It is clean, has numerous programs for all ages, a cardio room, a weight room, a pool, and friendly staff. It has one unusual feature. Instead of one big building, the Y includes many buildings joined by a covered walkway, similar to an outdoor mall. Try it. You'll love it.
Good place to stay active, only downside is that membership fee is pretty expensive

The Southwest YMCA is truly based around the community. Charlene, Tanya and the entire team make sure that everyone is welcome. So the staff deserves five stars including the lifeguards, personal trainers and those colleagues behind the scene. If there is one improvement suggestion, it is the cleanliness of the locker rooms. This is not a reflection of the staff but rather the unmannered few who could not be bothered to discard used towels or other items in the right bin. I am not sure what can be done in this area.

I spent a year in Great Lakes for school and I volunteered in the Honor Guard on base performing at numerous parades and ceremonies. This week I have had multiple arguments with the staff and director at Saratoga's YMCA over their lack of flag and flag pole decorum. When their flag pole wasn't at half mast all week as regulations dictates I addressed this with the Director who gave little to no concern about the issue but enjoyed giving me grief about how difficult a flag pole is to manage. When I explained that a simple app can notify you the flag position for the day and high school students can handle this across the country she blew me off so I went outside and cut the zipties that aren't regs and lowered the flag to half mast to honor those murdered in the Texas massacre. It took a full minute of my time to correct this. Now Veterans day I swinged by and as my handy app dictated position of colors it would or SHOULD have been raised to full. Instead the flag pole was bear with no colors flying at all. In my opinion it looked like a giant middle finger directed at me and my fellow Veterans. I went inside to address this and since the Director wasn't there I tried talking to the next in command. What I got was a WASP receptionist who tried giving me excuses about not being a federal building so who cares if the flag pole is bare. I don't mind educating people about something they are ignorant about but if you have been educated and decide to stay wrong yo won't be respected moving forward until change happens. I Suspended my YMCA membership at Saratoga's location due to the staff and managements unprofessionalism until this is corrected. I hope this outrages you as it did me.

Pool hours and activities are abundant and available for all members working a daily job or retired. The YMCA is a wonderful way to keep fit or just release a little tension after a day at work.
I love going to this place with my family and to go swimming at. I also love using the weight room and cardio room. This is an awesome place for children, adults, and elders. If you haven't visited the gym and you need a trainer they have a great variety of trainers for many things who are all very nice. They also have a large variety of Weight machines and cardio exercises to do/use. It is a very comfortable place to be in, only it may be a little crowded. The pool is also a great temperature to go swimming and do lass and also has very good lifeguards and is fun to go with your family. I come here every day to get fit and have fun. They also have a wide variety of sports and activities that you can do in groups or by yourself they have amazing staff that all care about you.
