This facility is excellent, it was lovely when it first opened - the variety & the quality of classes was unparalleled, and the studio had a really welcoming community atmosphere. Unfortunately after a few years it changed drastically - the instructors were changing all the time, most who left shared that it was not a great place to work. The atmosphere changing from welcoming to militant almost - nobody likes to be late for class, obviously people go there because they want the experience, but sometimes things happen - nobody is disrespectful on purpose - so their policy of locking the front door once the class would start was rude. During early morning classes or evening classes, there would be no receptionist so the instructor would just lock the front door once they were about to start the class. Several instructors were perpetually late to teach classes, but that was clearly acceptable - but if one paid $ to get to class, getting there a minute late meant money was wasted. They had several (none of them cheap) membership plans, and some you could pay for a certain number of classes per month, some included unlimited classes - so if you happened to miss a class that you'd signed up for and didn't cancel 3 hours in advance, you were charged a really steep fee. That was not acceptable. For an early morning class - what if one wakes up with a cold - so it's either get "fined" for being sick or go to class and spread germs - not a great idea. Same thing with being even a minute late - one gets charged a fee. Additionally, for a yoga studio, there was just an unhealthy amount of emphasis on body image - during a yoga class it's a bit weird to hear "a few more minutes in this pose, burn those calories". Sometimes an instructor would single out a student out and publicly call them out with no basic tact. Yes, of course most people want to be in shape etc, but hearing body shaming comments or reminders about bikini season constantly was unacceptable. Truly sad that they decided to go that route as it was a lovely place when it first opened.
