I left the gym after 20 years of membership, because my bill went up year after year, to reach the grand old sum of $528 for a 13 month-membership: totally overpriced, despite the fact that they grandly offered me a $3/month discount for having been with them so long. Their excuse? the cost of new equipment, and the minimum wage increase means that they have to charge us more... Folks, this wage increase is going to take years to implement....
So I decided to join a very cheap gym instead, they charge $130/13 months, and now I can see what I've gained and what I'll be missing!
What I disliked about CCAC: Their total lack of transparency regarding fees, it's nowhere on their Website... Also, it was filthy, honestly! The shower cubicles are a disgrace, hair, grime on the walls, broken soap/shampoo dispensers, nasty-looking rugs. They know about it, as I've complained a few times, including showing them the color of my white towel once I'd placed it on the rug so I wouldn't stand on it with my bare feet! Their equipment is aging and their machines too close to one another for comfort. In my $10/month new gym, they've got super clean showers and tiles, and many more machines.
What I am going to miss from CCAC: as a woman in her early 50s, I was within my comfort zone there, although parking may be tricky, the staff is very friendly and kind, although I never saw anyone doing any cleaning, which is disturbing. I'm going to miss the small spa and jacuzzi too, and they provided towels, soap, shampoo and lotion, as well as hair dryers, but are they worth that much extra money? I don't think so! I used to love CCAC under the old management, but ever since the management changed 4-5 years ago, the place has gone downhill. Had they offered me a better deal for being a faithful customer, I'd have stayed. A shame.
