I've been a member of LA Fitness since 2014, but only recently began Personal Training. I'll admit in spite of paying for my gym membership like everyone else, I've always been VERY intimidated about working out. Let me tell you, walking into a room full of VERY FIT people when you aren't one is quite scary. I used to do simple "wimpy" workouts because I felt nervous about what others would think of me when they saw me trying to use the complex machines. Then I started working in an Acute Care Hospital, and began caring for patients MY AGE with SERIOUS health problems because of poor self-care. It made me take stock of my own life, and what I saw in the future of my own health. I got serious about what I wanted from my workouts, and I contacted Cody T. the manager of the Training Dept. He got back to me immediately, and was SUPER persistent about getting me in to have my fitness assessment (as much as I tried to avoid it). There are no excuses with this guy! But it's not because he wants to SELL you, it's because he truly has an interest in the health and well-being of others. It's also obvious to me that Cody takes pride in hiring only the best people to be on his team. One of the reviews here said that the male staff is rude and intimidating to the women who attend this gym. I disagree completely. All of the guys at this gym have treated me with respect, and unless they are busy with another person they always say hello. From the moment I first spoke with Cody, I had a pleasant experience. I was scared as heck on the day of the assessment, but he was patient while still pushing my limits to show me what I needed to work on to improve my health. His review of my weights & measurements was respectful, matter-of-fact, honest, and a true wake up call for me. Now I'm training with Michael K. and he's been absolutely wonderful. He's friendly, punctual (A MAJOR plus!!!), professional, and knowledgeable. When I workout with him he motivates me and doesn't let me slack off. During every session I have with him, he pushes me and helps me to discover that I am stronger than I thought I was. It's very obvious that he cares about his clients, and wants us to succeed in meeting our fitness goals. Since I started I've lost 10lbs and 3% of my body fat! Plus decreased inches off my arms, neck, thighs, hips, waist, and legs!! I feel stronger and my endurance has increased exponentially since my initial fitness assessment! I am so happy I started this journey, and I'm truly grateful to Michael for being such an awesome trainer! So, if you are reading this and you're a person who's afraid to get into Personal Training, don't be! The hardest/scariest part is getting started, but Cody and his team will make you feel glad you took the first step to a healthier stronger YOU! And remember, it's also what you're willing to put into it. You've got to be as motivated and determined as they are to get you where you want to be. Take the first step, be consistent, and put in the work! You won't regret it!
