As a fellow Martial artist, I have to say that Shihan Rick Duffy is one of the most dynamic and knowledgeable instructors you will ever have the opportunity to learn from.

Besides being highly skilled in Karate and a plethora of other arts, Shihan Duffy is a passionate and very caring instructor. Kids love learning from him and the energy he bring to class is amazing.

Another quality that parents will find as a good fit is the family values practiced and the fact that Mr Duffy is also a loving father too.

He has trained groomed and developed some very good black belts in his own children.

Excellence is LITERALLY a family tradition in this academy.

I have watched him teach and witnessed the care and attention he gives his students. Shihan Duffy treats his students as if they are part of his own family.

I urge anyone on the Rancho area to come see for yourself and give their dojo a look-see.

Also, their facility is clean, safe, cozy and fully equipped with a positive vibe.

So if u are a parent or passionate about martial arts for yourself or your child, UMAC is the place to go in Rancho.

I highly recommend them.

PS, don't just take my word for it, GO visit them and experience it for yourself! You won't regret it!

They are truly a great example of what a Karate school is all about.

Amazing studio. I attend the Kickboxing class and I love it. Rick is an awesome teacher, whether you are a beginner or advance. Every class is always a good workout and I love how he mixes in a little self defense at the end of some classes.

Ive been doing the cardio kickbox class for a few years now off and on, and honestly i cannot see myself even thinking about signing up for any other class. It does not matter if you are not experienced or feel nervous about the idea simply because of the "kickbox" part, Sensei offers his guidance and makes it fun and gives a worth your money workout! After finding this class I cant see myself signing up for any other type. Awesome family bussiness!

My daughter has been in the pee-wee class for a year now (started right after she turned 3 and is now 4) and I am confident this is a great program. This school focuses not just on the physical aspects but put a huge emphasis on behavior and respect,. My daughter has gained a lot of confidence in her time here, and has really started to grow into herself. I also think that the instructors manage a great balance for the young kids, making it both fun to keep them engaged (since this class is about 3-5 years old) while still teaching them meaningful and useful skills. They also seem truly concerned with their students achievements, as opposed to many other places where you feel the teacher is there because they have to be.

I trained here when I was young, and only got up to solid purple and then stopped going. Great sensei with high standards and expectations. Belts are most definitely not given away here. All rank must be EARNED. I miss it now. I currently live too far to commute here now but if I should ever move back to the area I'll definitely come train again with Sensei Duffy. UMAC was actually recommended to us by my sister's friend's mom, and my sister's friend's sister trained here and earned her black belt under Sensei as well. Man if I hadn't met sensei duffy or his staff, or hadn't my sis met her school friend or if we hadn't met her mom, we probably would have ended up at a McDojo somewhere that just gives belts away.
