I love this place. The coaches and staff are great and so encouraging. Book a class. Seriously.

I have only gone for a (free) single session, as it turns out it was not really for me.
I think the strength section of the classes are a very tough place to start for beginners. The weight moves are complicated, and there is only about a 10 second demo given before beginning. While you work out, they have video monitors showing what the movement is supposed to look like, but the videos are all captured at terrible angles and are really too small to be seen through sweaty eyelids. No guidance at all is given for reps / sets / weight.
Needless to say, I couldn't really figure out if I was doing anything correctly during the strength section of the class. The coach was polite and did try to help, but without any guidance given to how muscles should be activating, it was impossible for me to tell if I was actually doing anything useful - it certainly did not feel like I was!
The heart rate monitor was pretty cool to really show you progress during the cardio part of the workout. That being said, I bought my own on Amazon and have been using it to guide my own regimen. I have had better luck picking routines / videos online for strength than I did in the strength segment of this class.
I would say this place makes sense if you are a veteran runner who is looking for something new, or really need the motivation of someone yelling at you to do your cardio. Would not recommend for those just starting out.

Emeryville location has the best coaches, I visit other locations but I always find my way back to Emeryville. Great energy, every class!

The time went by quickly as each part of the workout was no longer than 15-20 minutes. I could expend a lot more energy since a lot of the pushes were only 60-90 seconds. Coach was very supportive--like a personal trainer but attentive to how I was feeling not just trying to make me work harder.

I like that the classes are structured, and the trainers keep you moving for the entire hour. I also like that it's scalable, meaning that each person does the workout to their ability - and there are all sorts of abilities in each class. It's challenging, and as you become more fit, you can still challenge yourself a bit more.

You guys don't be fool of this Scam place! I'm not really fan of writing reviews but I've decided to write here because of my horrible experience with this branch and specially the manager Angie or whatever her name !!!
so because they're disparate for people to signup they forced me to charge one more month and because it's written in the agreement I said okay that's totally fine but when I asked to downgrade from 8 classes per month to 4 classes she just refused as i did it before downgrade from unlimited to 8 items and they were fine with no issues at all ....
This place is really sucks and really doesn't worth even $1 to spend on there!!
