I go to a climbing gym 5-6 times a week in utah, and have now visited this gym twice while in town visiting family. Not a huge climbing gym, but prices are very reasonable for the amount of variety it offers. I had a good experience the first time last year so I decided to bring my rather large family with me the second time taking advantage of their $10 Friday night deal, which really is a steal.
I will preface my justification for the 3 star rating by saying I am sure my group was a nightmare for the staff and other climbers, because we had several young climbers. I have removed one star from my rating because there were no top roping routes that were for climbers at an introductory level with limited athletic ability. At the gym I am sitting at right now I can count 10 top roping routes that are easier than the easiest route they had at rock fitness. Granted the gym I am at is twice the size, but still. When I pointed this out to one of the staff, he directed me to a small bouldering wall, which could occupy someone for maybe 3 minutes, and of course the gym I am at now has a comparable wall about 8 times the size. I realize that wall space is precious, but I am just recommending one or two routes be placed that anyone who can climb a ladder can climb, just to help people build confidence. If you guys choose not to do this, I would recommend improving the communication when people call talking about bringing the un-initiated and young children.
I have deducted another star because several of my family members found the staff unfriendly. I did not feel the same way personally, but I might just have different expectations for climbing gym staff, spending more time at other gyms.
So at the end of the day, while I would for sure sign up myself for this gym if I lived nearby, I would not introduce anyone to climbing through this gym again.
