I train here every week, this is my first BJJ experience. Everyone has been so welcome since day one and there is a sense of family. Mike is an excellent teacher!

One World is an amazing place. The two black belts, Mike Prudencio and Fooki, are great professors. I admire their ability to teach, to convey concepts and principles that can be applied to a variety of situations. They exhibit a great sense of openness, allowing for a diversity of styles, and preferences. And, they run classes that are well-balanced: warm-ups, situational drilling, technique time, sparring, and then open mats. All the people who train there are chill, welcoming, well-balanced people. I'm glad to have befriended them, and I highly recommend all people to come train at One World.

I'm here whenever I'm back visiting my family in the Bay Area. The head instructor Mike is awesome. He is easy going, relaxed and very knowledgeable in Jiu Jitsu. The gym environment has a great vibe. It makes fun to keep going to class every night. They have morning at night classes. I enjoy the open mat on Sunday. Schools from all over the bay area come to the academy to train.

My husband Mike and I walked into One World Jiu Jitsu Academy several years back and knew this is where he wanted to teach. At that point they were still finishing up the paint and hadn't even put in the mats yet. But we could already sense that this is where he belonged. Since that day, Mike has been the head black belt jiu jitsu instructor at One World Jiu Jitsu Academy, and has never looked back.

I have taken my husband's classes as well and he is an amazing instructor. I am not just saying that because he is my husband either. :) He breaks down the finer details and helps you really understand the fundamental movements. He is very patient in his teaching style and takes a lot of care into his students on and off the mat. He has so much passion for what he does and it's very obvious when you see him with his students. When he is not in the gym teaching, then you can see him at tournaments supporting his students, writing up lesson plans, studying videos and books, setting up seminars to bring in high level black belts for seminars, and the list is endless to how much care and effort he puts into what he loves. To him, it's much more than his career. It's his family.

One World Jiu Jitsu Academy offers an excellent program for both adults and kids. The kids program is taught by both Kyle and Nam. They are phenomenal role models and really know how to connect with the kids. There are also plenty of women training on the mat for those females who feel a little weary about training with men right away. But I guarantee there will be plenty of friendly and helpful students who will welcome you in as you begin. You will be "hooked" once you start, (that's a little jiu-jitsu humor for those who understand). :) You will not only be able to train with an abundance of talent at One World Jiu Jitsu Academy, but also at AKA Sunnyvale where Mike also teaches.

If you're looking for something that is a step above the average jiu jitsu academy, you should give One World Jiu Jitsu a try. You will experience a lot more than stepping on and off the mat. You will experience the family environment our gym exudes and be surrounded by some of the most genuine instructors and students.

Mike says how grateful he feels every single day to be doing something that he loves. But I think his students feel the same about him...grateful.

I found One World Jiu-jitsu through Yelp as I was researching for BJJ schools upon moving to Union City. After taking the free introductory courses, I was hooked! I've been training at this school for over 2 years now and I can't imagine myself training anywhere else. Professor Mike is a down to earth instructor who is meticulously detail oriented on the fundamental techniques of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He is very observant during practice drills and genuinely wants his students to progressively get better and do well in competition. Most importantly, he is also a great mentor on and off the mat.

I started training BJJ in my 30s and I am now in the best shape in my life. One of the most important aspects of BJJ longevity is finding the right environment to train in. I am very fortunate to be training with a great group of people at One World JJ, who I consider my extended family!

There are a lot of places to learn Jiu jitsu at. This is one of the best. Great head instructors with a range of talent in the room. Experienced to beginning players are always welcomed. One world is expesially known for its Sunday night open mats @6pm. Then you can test your skills without paying expensive tournament entrance fees.

I have been to the AKA Sunnyvale location many times. They are very open arms and great technicians. I strongly suggest them if you are a basic all the way up to advanced. If you are looking to learn some technique or roll around some, there are a bunch of great guys to work with. I also like the mixture of no-gi occasionally. Great group there. Special shout out to Alex the owner, he is a very kind and great guy.

I joined One World in 2008 after trying out a few other BJJ schools in the area. From prior experiences with shady gym owners, unprofessional instructors, and inconsiderate training partners, I almost gave up my search for a good school. I'm glad I decided to give it one more shot with One World. The One World/AKA Sunnyvale family is made up of some of the most respectful, kind, generous, and funny group of people from all walks of life - and it all stems from instructor Mike Prudencio. BJJ can be very intimidating and demanding. As a middle-aged practitioner, I was looking to learn the art, stay in shape, and be part of a community. I've found all three and much more. If you are looking to compete, you'll find some of the best competitors and training partners here as well. Whatever your reason, if you're looking for a fantastic academy with even better individuals, come in and try One World out.

Came for the open mat. Good bunch that showed up. Clean, spacious, no egos.

Well, I have trained at a few different gyms during my bjj career from San Diego to Stockton and Oneworld is one of the best. There is always ample time given to open mat training (45min-1 hour or more) at every class after some good instruction and drilling. There is a wide array of skill level and experience always on the mat from brand new white belts to brown belts.
This is also one of the first gyms I find as much dedication from the black belt instructor (Mike Prudencio) as the students which makes for a great learning and training environment. The crew at Oneworld is one of the most family oriented as well as some of the most competitive and tough I have come across. Could not recommend this place more to anybody interested in some good jiu jitsu
