Been going to Steamworks for years, considered to be one of the best men's spa to relax and have a peace of mind. But unfortunately, Steamworks have been failing on maintaining the jacuzzi and steamroom. Steamroom has been out for months and jacuzzi has been out as well recently. Management is very poor of taking care of the place. Steamworks has been through a lot of remodeling. Still something breaks down still. Very disappointed of how management is running the place. I recommend "WaterGarden" in San Jose. Far drive but it's damn worth it!

I was mainly in my large room busy all night with a bottom friend. When I did finish and walked around the bathhouse was packed. A good place to unwind is the sauna or jacuzzi pool. Let the jetstreams hit your pets or back and the steam room heat you up again for another round or two..in the back of the bathhouse is my favorite. Putting the bench or sling to good use if someone is on it waiting and already to go.....put in a show....thank god the bench is bolted down, I can go real rough pounding hard now and not have to worry about the bench breaking..... seems made just for me...now I can really work over a willing volunteer on the receiving end

Few weeks later and as of last weekend 9/22, none of the front desk crew wore a name tag! Unsure whether the Management lacks the will, tools or desire to better this joint beyond the recent renovation, or the crew is irresponsive and non-compliant!
While, the members have respect and consideration for
your privacy, the 'older' clerk, with salt and pepper hair, at the front desk (Gins... ) is most unprofessional and still occasionally walks around ONLY to check you out while you are changing/undressing at the lockers or around the showers; yes, Invasion of Privacy! I also overheard him brag about 'being known for yelling'. Before posting this Review, my buddies agreed with the above and they too sometimes felt less than respected or appreciated as regular patrons.
I have seen many changes over the past few years, mainly much shorter lines on weekends.
Don't let the crew attitude discourage you from enjoying your experience; just be prepared for mediocre treatment over the weekend, while (I believe) the manager is away!
My buddies and I reside mid-way between Berkeley and San Jose, so we have a better alternative to enjoy a bathouse experience!
Short of the above remarks, I'd rate it 4.5 out of 5.0.

I was here last weekend, this is hands down the best bathhouse I've ever been to. I've only been to the ones in LA and Vegas, but this one beats them, no competition. The guys are great and the staff is friendly. The place itself is amazing and clean, way more luxurious than I expected.

Went for the first time, a let me just say i wasnt nervous upon entering but a little apprehensive. Since i figured i drove an hour and half to get there let it be worth my wild. There were different variety of men it was dim and kind of quiet which makes the place a little more at ease. I have never tookin that much of a shower in my life glad i was able to do a lil touching and groping witbout bein turned down. I mainly went to observe and to get a feel of the place not to engage in any sexual contact, the staff was cool. Not too fond of the steam room simply because i hate bein hot maby ill have to get use to it idk. But over all it was a fun experience and i planned to go more often.

The manager is usually not on duty during the weekends. So, when the Cat's away, the Mice play!
While your ID (Containing your Name, Address, etc...) is kept at the front desk until you leave, the crew run around without any name tags/badges. So when you need the name for any necessary reference, you have NONE!
A name tag helps personnel act more professionally, and be more mindful of their attitude towards guests!
Watch out from some weekend crew unprofessional/fresh/patronizing and/or unfriendly attitude at the front desk - specially if you don't appreciate being HIT ON or called Sweetheart, Baby or Darling!
If you don't appreciate your personal privacy violated, watch out for crew personnel roaming around on their break, fully clothed and and checking you out when you are walking or lounging around half or totally naked.
It is fair game when another guest is looking or checking you out. But, when it's a crew member on duty, it is a Privacy violation!
I invited 2 of my buddies who will not return because of the front desk weekend crew fresh/unprofessional attitude.
We want this joint to prosper. That's why we take few minutes to provide fair, free and accurate reviews!
I would have gladly gone as high as 2.5 Stars, but sadly, the half Star is unavailable!

The crew do NOT wear name badges (no incentive to be on their best behavior, specially on weekends), so when you have a complaint, you have NO names - although they have ALL of your personal info (name, address, etc...) from your ID they keep until you leave, but they display no name tags on their person.
I invited 2 of my buddies who will not return because of the weekend front desk crew fresh/unprofessional attitude.
Members/Guests are OK/courteous.
Average facility/environment.

Nice vibe, good range of men, most people handle themselves well and the facilities are nice as well. Especially love the hot tub and steam room this time of year. Busy times are great, but some of my best experiences have happened in off hours like weekday afternoons and evenings. The staff tends to be cool, friendly and flirty. Always nice to go back.

Nice vibe, good range of men, most people handle themselves well and the facilities are nice as well. Especially love the hot tub and steam room this time of year. It's by far the cleanest and largest sex venue in the SF area. Granted, it's a bit of a drive or BART ride from SF, but it's often worth it. Sunday afternoons for "Sunday Service" are by far the best. Weeknights are pretty dead; Fridays and Sat are moderately busy, though late Saturday night is busy. On Sundays I've seen some of the hottest guys in SF, who I've only ever seen at the gym or whatnot and wouldn't think they'd go to a sex venue. Most people are friendly and playful and I usually have a good time.
I dock one star because the whole check in/out and the various rooms and upgrades is so time consuming and cumbersome. It can take several minutes to check out. When you're ready to go, you're ready to go. It can take 10-20 min to check in depending how busy they are.

Was there last Monday, 10/9, night. I like this place, always clean and staff very friendly. However, when I was ready to check out, OMG the employee behind the counter made me feel so uncomfortable. It was around five am. The moment he open the box to give me my valuables, he gave me the look, he didn't take his eyes of me. I sat in the lobby to wait for Uber and he didn't stop staring at me. I felt so uncomfortable that I just left and I waited outside. I know that it was early and he might have been tired, but that's not the customer fault. I am a manager myself and I know that sometimes is hard to handle people, but if u don't like ur job get a job somewhere else. Don't know if I wanna go back again. After years of coming here, this is the first time I felt that way. Train ur people the right way please.

Remodeled to bring it up to local codes and the aesthetic standards of similarly-branded venues across the country. While it maintains the basic form, the refit makes this the premiere sauna, closest to San Francisco, and definitely worth checking out.
Moderately priced dressing rooms are quite handy if you plan on being there more than thirty minutes, and the gym is actually well appointed, with lots of availability (mirroring the clientele.)
Some nights get quite busy, with competition for rooms practically requiring the optional VIP membership which earns priority status on any waiting list. Eight hours is standard for the maximum time allowed for one stay, and two 'stays' back to back is allowed, with absolutely no tolerance for anything beyond (ordinance requires the staff to be quite efficient at keeping you compliant).
Even so, the staff are overwhelmingly very professional and courteous, even when the rare guest decides not to be. Lots of fun, and maintained well, even if a little grid-like and smallish compared to others bearing the same name.
