Some poor management decisions on what equipment to add and to get rid of. Seriously get a trainer to take inventory at all the clubs, not some staff that does not workout. Is the grass greener on other side? For me the abundance of locations keeps me coming back. I really miss 32 st & Camelback location. So much equipment there that was like gold they sold off when it closed.

Loving the training center

Esporta offers $25 for a membership with unlimited guest priveleges, but if you are an existing LA fitness member paying $30/month they charge you $200 to convert to the better membership and lower payment. Absolute 0 customer loyalty. This is why EOS is putting them out of business - good riddance

LA fitness is great. This location used to be a 24 hour fitness. Lots of everything. Lost a star due to good number of out of order aerobic machines. They keep honoring the killer deal I got through 24 hour fitness in 2002 - prepay 3 years and 5 PT sessions, get indefinite $50 per year renewals.

Of the locations I frequent this one is definitely my fave! The staff is cool & much nicer than some other locations.

Sunday morning Zumba is a WONDERFUL class. I think the instructors name was Karen. Great energy.

My home gym. The machines and weights are nice. However like others have mentioned machines do breakdown and stay broken down for weeks sometimes. The cable machine broke in February and they couldn't get cables until summer for some reason, but they did get a separate cable machine. The cleaning people at nighttime aren't as thorough as the morning people. It's not a lifetime gym but it also doesn't cost as much as lifetime. I give this gym 5 stars simply for the fact that they stayed open 24 hours a day.

Updated review.
Half the machines are broken. Always dirty. Management clearly doesn't know what they are doing. Really sad. This gym is on my way to work but I'd rather go to the one on Stapley because it's cleaner with working equipment.

This is my gym. Nice equipment. Good all around fitness center. All levels of exercise and training. You don't have to be conscious of size or shape. All types from very fit to those trying to stay healthy and all ages.

This is definitely THE WORST la fitness i have EVER been to in the whole state. I travel a lot and get to visit many different la fitness locations. I have been to some pretty bad ones but this one TAKES THE CAKE BY FAR. From the machines to the employees, everything about this location is terrible. I will be submitting a formal complaint to the corporate office about this location. This place is UNACCEPTABLE.

Friendly staff and clean gym. The bikes for spin class need serious updating, but teachers are good. Attended yoga here, loved how big the room was.

I love that this place is 24/7 with a pool, Jacuzzi, and a sauna. Downsides are that its not the most pristine location- its definitely an older gym with some machines that have seen better days. I have never had a problem with the staff or cleanliness, and overall feel like this is a good place to go to especially if you work later than most locations would be open.

It's one of the few 24 hour locations so it's almost always busy. Even at 11 p.m. Since it gets so much use something is almost always broken there but they're also pretty quick to get it fixed. They have pretty much all the equipment you can expect in a gym.

Why is there an approved picture of a girl and a "typical gym bro"? And one of 24hour fitness? Pictures at the gym should be against the rules. Put your phone away.
Real review... after closing down Baseline & 101 location, why has this facility seen little improvements?

I really wanted to like this place but the staff just don't cut it. Too much of some equipment, not enough of others, and a boat load of excuses ultimately ended with my cancelling my membership. The people who work out here are great for the most part. My recommendation is that you find someplace else.

I really love this Gym.... I went with a friend who has been going for 20+ yrs.... and the steam room... after a good and hard workout... is the best payoff... you can really tell the next day. The staff is awesome...super helpful..and friendly.

I signed up for a personal training membership from LA Fitness in February 2018. A the time that I signed up, I had reservations about registering however, the sales woman brought over a "personal training manager" and he let me know that they would write it into my contract that I could cancel at any time due to health restrictions. I had had surgery in December so that was the bulk of my concern. I worked out with the trainer for two months and then asked to cancel my contract. The new personal training manager let me know that not only did they not include the information that was stated would be in my contract, that the person that had been brought over and presented to me was not in fact the personal training manager and that I had been lied to. He stated that he'd found out a number of clients had been lied to as well and offered me a new contract rather than honoring the first, even though they stated that they believed me. It all became unimportant as I decided to move to North Carolina. After taking a look at my contract, I saw that relocation was an approved reason to cancel anyway. My contract states "This agreement is subject to cancellation by written notice sent certified mail, return receipt requested, or personally deliver a signed and dated written notice of cancellation to Client's club of enrollment at address herein above (obtain a receipt from club) upon Clients change of permanent residence (from that stated on page 1 hereof) to a location more than twenty-five miles from Pro Results or an affiliated health studio offering the same or similar services at no additional expense to the Client." Because I am moving to Greensboro North Carolina, I looked up my new address compared to the closest LA Fitness and found that it was 34 miles away. After signing my lease, I called and asked what I needed to bring into the facility to cancel for a relocation and Thaddeus stated that I needed to bring in something that showed my new address. When I arrived to the store, I asked to speak with Lerissa as Thaddeus and instructed me and let her know that I needed to change my address due to relocation. She asked if I had any thing with my new address for which I produced my lease and then she stated that that was not an acceptable form of documentation. She stated that I needed a new drivers license, a change of address form or a utility bill, non of which I could produce at the moment or before my next billing cycle. I reminded her that those things were not in my contract and that I'd spoken to a manager earlier that same day and he did not mention those things either. She stated that it wasn't the club by Arizona law that required it. After I asked which law specifically, she because defensive and said that she didn't say law but that she'd said guideline. I told her a guideline is not legally binding like a contract and she stated that she refused to process my cancellation because I did not have the forms she mentioned. I asked her again if she was going to honor the contract that I'd entered into with LA Fitness and she flat out stated that she was not going to honor the contract.

I hate working out here. If you're aiming for full body lifting this isn't the gym for you. There's only 2 places to do real squats and one of them is a power rack. There's a smith machine, but come on, you're not doing anything real there. There's a couple of leg presses but honestly I go to a gym way out of my way to do leg day. The free weights area also smells like rotten milk, so even on an arm day I don't bother with this gym. I wish the free exercise area was larger. There's usually about 5 treadmills that are broken as well. On off peak hours (9pm - 7am) the gym is actually okay- unless you're doing legs and 1 other person is doing legs and you're literally waiting. I only come here to lift really early in the morning or I come after work for a quick cardio session. I'm really just paying $30/mo to not to cardio outside.

February 21, 2018 23:50

The gym on price/baseline closed forcing me to this gym. It makes me wonder why this one wasn't shut down instead. One squat rack (the bar will hit the plate supports if you reach depth) and one power rack. The population of this gym is way too high for only two racks. I call to set an appointment to use one but they hang up. If you are serious about lifting do not use this gym. The plates have flat sides which is dangerous for deadlifts. The gym is good if you don't like to work your legs. Other reviewers are correct in that it is way too hot to run for long periods of time on the treadmill. The quality of the treadmills is very sub-par compared to other competitors in the area.

They are greedy cheaters. Signed me up for a day pass, I came back later that night and the guy at the counter refused to look me up in the system, insisting on a written receipt, but when they signed me they never gave me anything like that. They definitely have you in the system, because you can only get a guest pass once every six months!

They need to be sued for false advertising. This is NOT Okay. Please stay away from these greedy shysters. If La Fitness loses any business because of my report, then it will satisfy my revenge. Better yet, tell them the reason you won't join is because they cheat people. Confirm it for yourself with your own guest pass. They don't give a damn about us.

Most Expensive membership you can find. There's no point unless you are here for the Spa, and the indoor pool. Every cheap gym in the valley will have the Exercise equipment. Don't come to this greedy place unless you're in it for the pool, and remember they will cheat you if they can.

They will NOT let me cancel even though I'm more than 25+ miles away, cancellation letters magically never make it to the P.O. Box 55088, Irvine, CA 92619 address. Now I'm being told MONTHS later to send letters by certified mail. So when you decide to cancel make sure to do it by certified mail, that's your only pull. Otherwise Good Luck.
And FYI they like to have you initial stuff and not hand you a "contract" you supposedly signed but they sure enough will print it out and fold it up in letter form and staple it on both ends to your book so you can't see it.
And God forbid you have an out of state guest who wants to maintain their workout routine through their stay, even for a weekend, just know the guest pass will not be honored. They'll talk to you about signing up first and give you the run around and give you the 25 questions to make you sound like a liar rather than just saying sorry we don't allow our guest passes to be used by out of state individuals. Simple as that.
The mindset of management and employees here is nothing but money money money, and you wonder why they never last. You could walk in a month or two later to completely new people.
Personal trainers will set appointment times and change up hours before like we also don't have a schedule we need to keep. They'll leave you for the last 15-20 mins, maybe even 30 mins and stick you on a treadmill to go tend to another member to train. No one is on the same page, all I can say is corporate needs to figure out a way to satisfy their members all around but we're so used to hearing about problems from businesses that when it happens to us we tend to let it be because we're so busy that we don't have the energy to fight another company because it only means more money out of your pockets. I have not stepped into this gym since November 2017, and yet I still can't cancel, I am now -$800 because I didn't send my mail certified. And if my letter doesn't reach them again there goes my chance for my possible refund of the $200 for this past month because my letter so happens to grow legs and run off. Makes me think now, with a certified letter they failed to mentioned I would've had some sort of pull to begin with and again, maybe not.
A lot of us chose this location because it's 24hrs, we really didn't have a choice.

Avoid! Devoid of any professional club atmosphere whatsoever. Poor maintenance and even worse general management. They are only interested in new memberships. They do nothing for you once you sign a contract. If it weren't for the location, I would never go to this club. The workout areas are always a mess and overcrowded to the point they are unsafe. Nobody knows how to rack weights or respect other's work areas. There isn't enough safety features, such as barbell collars, and mats and other random equipment and supplies are tossed everywhere. There's simply no safety, comfort, or convenience protocol demonstrated by anyone who works there. The trainers are the laughing stock of fitness and and the worst example of club etiquette imaginable. It's obvious from their physiques (mostly fat or skinny with no muscle tone) that they either know nothing about training or do no training themselves.

Decent facility. Gets packed on International Chest Day with students. just upgraded some pretty cool stair masters

Good gym for your basic beginner level workouts. However, the men's locker room smells terrible. Very dirty and unclean. Machines are frequently in need of service and do not work properly.

October 24, 2017 13:53

I just can't get over how nice this club is for what they charge. They have a full pool and jacuzzi and indoor air conditioned basketball court. Every weight machine you could imagine. Something like twenty-five treadmills. Lots of stuff to do here even at peak times you don't have a hard time getting to your stuff because there is so much equipment. Overall pretty impressed.
Check it out! - Definitely worth a look

October 24, 2017 13:53

This gym is decent if you just want to use the basic amenities but the quality of it has depreciated from a service stand point and quality assurance from the equipment being out of order. This place could use a little more TLC just saying. Overall it's fairly decent but defiantly needs management improvement for this location.

It's too darn hot. This gym is so hot that I have to cut my runs on the treadmill short, not because I am tired from running, but because I am too hot to go on. I don't think you can say anything worse about a gym in Phoenix. I live right by this gym and still go here even though it is filthy, it is just too close. But now that Summer has rolled around and it is hot out, I have to start driving 5 miles to the next closest gym to run on the treadmill. You will notice when you walk into the gym that everyone that works there is wearing short sleeve shirts. And that should be the first sign that it is a terrible gym. It should be too cool in a gym for people who aren't working out to not have a sweater on. But I guess it is more important to their staff that they are comfortable. And don't think just because any other gym would have nice people working there that these people are nice. When you leave this place you end up walking right by the staff and you will feel like you should say bye too them, well don't. They will straight up ignore you and you will look like a total A-Hole.
