I have been going to Vancouver Yoga Center for 13 years and HIGHLY recommend. Melonie and all instructors have a way of knowing exactly what I need. I love that each class is varied. So glad to be back after a summer/ fall hiatus. VYC keeps me strong and vital!!

I started out in Fall 2018 with my very first yoga class ever. I was quite nervous about my ability (or lack thereof), physical condition and just being in a larger body. I have done group classes before (not yoga) and have been so uncomfortable or been unable to keep up and embarrassed by it that I never went back. I ABSOLUTELY do not feel that way here at all. All of the instructors are very welcoming and are really good about giving you adjustments and variations to suit your ability. It is all done without judgement or shame. And all of the other students have been equally gracious. I am really grateful to have found this place and really look forward to continuing to grow stronger, fitter and more at ease.

This is exactly the yoga studio I was hoping to find when I moved to this area. Each class and every instructor have been excellent. Their philosophy is based on the Anusara yoga method, which means that proper and safe alignment is key, as is leading from the heart. I love that the owner, Melonie, teaches many of the classes (not that common, in my experience) and that every instructor is on the same wavelength. Five stars!

I have known many yoga instructors through the years and Melonie is one of few who lives the teachings of yoga. She has dedicated many years to her inner journey and it shows when she instructs. She is able to meet her students at their level. It is very evident to see that she pours her heart and Soul into her teaching and life. She is also a perpetual student which means she is very humble. Best teacher around.

I recently attended a Yoga class taught by Marcus and I recommend going to his classes. It was truly an amazing experience for my mind body and soul. I will be going back for every class because I truly loved the workout and stretching of the body, you can go at your own pace and really feel your body getting the exercise that it needs. For only $5 a class you are getting far more than what you are paying for. After a great stretching of the body it is followed by a relaxing treatment of essential oils to breathe in (if you chose) and let your body relax while listening to peaceful music in a dimmed light setting. I recommend this to anyone who loves yoga or even wants to try it for the first time. No need to bring any equipment it is all provided, just show up with an open mind and have the best yoga experience offered. His next classes are Thursday the 19th at 6pm and January 30th at 6pm.

Attended class nearly every day for 2 weeks while in the area. Excellent facilities -- comfortable surroundings, good complimentary tea, and (unlike most places) they provide mats and all sorts of other quality props.

Of course that'd all be irrelevant if the teachers weren't top notch, which they fortunately all. Tish is one of my favorites; she has a way about her that makes you want to put in that extra effort and feel fantastic after. And the owner, Melonie, is out of this world. We did things in her classes that I've never experienced in 10 years of other yoga studios.

Can't recommend highly enough.

I started going to The Vancouver Yoga Center because it had been recommended to me and I wanted to get some exersice. The Yoga Center ended up being much more for me. I am a Massage Therapist and have a lot of muscle pain and tension from work and I found that going to the Yoga Center regularly actually decreased my tension and pain so that I was a happier me. The Yoga Center is also a healing place for my mind, a place I can meditate and really let go of my day.
I'm very happy I went to the The Vancouver Yoga Center as it is now a very important part of my life and self care.

I've been studying yoga under Melonie Nielsen for more than 10 years. I continue going because she brings her journey as a yoga teacher and as a person to class every day. She has an expansive knowledge of the body, and is always seeking new ways to help students understand proper alignment of the body, get into a difficult pose, recover from a sports injury, or deal with some chronic pain. She can teach to any level of yoga experience. After all these years, she continues to impress me with her compassion, knowledge, and passion for yoga. (And the community of students is welcoming & fun!)
