Great gym, friendly staff, clean environment. Great place to work out when your child has been admitted to the hospital. Seattle gym was a life saver for me...I was able to burn off some stress and return to the hospital full of positive energy for my little guy.
Words are not enough to thank you Seattle Gym, you and your employees are AMAZING!

Great folks and nice well equipped gym. Upper floor can get a bit warm in summer

I went in there asking about a membership and the counter person treated me poorly because I didn't work for Amazon and wasn't interested in helping me.

Quiet location, nice staff.

Pros:

Polite and friendly staff who unfortunately can do nothing but apologize for the many failures of this gym because the slumlord owners won't put a penny into fixing any of the years-long problems.

Location is good for us, as we live just a mile away.

Cost is cheap. We have been members since 2010 and the price for two has stayed around $60/month.

Cons:

Super old, broken and/or barely functioning equipment. See picture below showing "out of order" signs on 3 out of 5 ancient, mismatched treadmills.

Climate control has been a problem for years. The place is incredibly hot in the summer and freezing cold in the winter. We're talking temperature extremes that are frankly dangerous. See picture below showing thermostat at 94 degrees in the upstairs cardio equipment room this past summer.

Filthy and cluttered throughout. No effective program to regularly clean the equipment or the facilities. Equipment is cleaned only by members either with towels and spray bottles, or their sweat.

Ceilings leak/drip during heavy rains and buckets are set out on the floors to deal with the dripping. That has been the situation for years.

So why do we stay? So far the pros have slightly outweighed the cons. And there aren't many other reasonably priced options nearby. However every time we see new members signing up we feel an urge to warn them. Perhaps this review will help prospective members decide if the gym is worthwhile on balance.

Alternatively, the owners could take steps to remedy even a few of the problems mentioned above. Then I will certainly consider updating my review.

Old equipment with a weird gym vibe. The equipment is so close together it is hard to navigate around the gym.

staff are nice. they say hi and bye when you arrive and leave. absolutely no up-selling here such as supplements or personal training which is a so nice compared to a lot of corporate gyms. I got one of their membership deals and the price isn't too bad. only complaint is the place is kind of small but I go during non-busy hours so I'm almost never waiting for anything. They have the essentials for me (squat rack, deadlift area and bench) so all is well. they also have decent parking.

I love the rustic neighborhood gym feel. I've been able to get a great workout in, shower in a clean facility, and walk out the door happy everytime. I love having the option to support a local business. I've never felt crowded even though it's not a massive box gym, but maybe that's because I miss the busy times, who knows. The staff are exactly what I want out of gym staff: competent and polite. I like being left alone to get work done, I don't require any hand holding. This place is outstanding.

Price is good and it's convenient to my house. It isn't very clean and some equipment isn't in the best condition. Also their AC doesn't work most of the time, so it can be very very warm.

I just signed up for the third time at the Laurelhurst location (used to be Pro Robics). Was a member there 10 years ago, and one summer a few years back. I've always been treated well by the staff, and the gym meets my basic workout needs. For $40 a month, I don't think I can complain about what it lacks.

I agree the main reasons I signed up here were location and price, and lack of alternatives! If an LA Fitness or other chain gym opened up down the street, I'd switch in a heartbeat for the newer facilities, space, and updated equipment.

I've been a member of the club for over 22 years. The club has kept my 24 inch waist and well defined abs in superb condition.
