I love, love, love Union Pilates and Ashley Newman so much that whenever I'm in town from Portland, I try to take a class or schedule a private session. Ashley is the best Pilates instructor I've ever experienced. Her in depth knowledge and personal care are outstanding!
I must admit, I haven't had much success with yoga classes or gyms. But, at Union Pilates, I found my place. The classes are tiny so it's the ideal balance of a group experience and 1 on 1 guidance. The owner, Ashley, is paying attention to you and offering relevant, specific guidance without the focus being totally on you. I LOVED it and plan to go back on a regular basis. It truly was the most comfortable, motivating and useful fitness class I've ever had. Hot tip- wear form fitting clothes.
Hello! I just want to say one of the most important things to know about my niece Ashley Newman at Union Pilates. When you go to her studio you will get 100% of effective training and knowledge about how to make the improvements you want on your body! Book a private session with her today, you will not be disappointed I promise!!!!!
I love this place! Union Pilates isn't a mill. The instructors are carefully selected, and they are careful with our bodies. Mine, in particular!
If you're like me, you have to go to work every day and you want to stay fit (or maybe rehab an injury or whatever), and Union's instructors are going to make sure that you get your work in without hurting yourself. This is a big deal - I've had workouts that have left me achy & breaky the next day, but this doesn't happen at Union, because the instructors pay attention, correct your form, and do not push you past your capabilities.
Great location, parking, all of that. One more side note.
At 61, I still play softball, and every spring it takes me a couple of weeks to get the arm loose enough to throw well. I came to Union during the off-season, and at our first practice, my arm was in mid-season form.
I do group sessions, some younger people, some athletes and some not. They all love Union, but I'm writing about it. Looking forward to seeing you there. For real.
Ashley is the most tuned in instructor. Her classes feel like a supportive group lesson with Ash able to help each person from the small group individually with their needs. Private lessons and mat classes put me ahead of other studio students and her tower classes are so fun and challenging.

After being a regular gym goer for years and then falling off the exercise wagon I was looking for a way to get back into shape so decided to try Pilates. It's a whole new thing to me, where the equipment seemed daunting and its operation obscure. But after leaving the first session feeling taller and straighter I decided to sign up! I'm now a regular and love it. Ashley is great; very knowledgeable about Pilates and exercise physiology, is very professional has a warm personality and quickly assesses and plans a program for your body. Its seems easy at first but oh boy there is plenty of challenge available in this studio! If you are sick of lifting weights, bored at the gym or trying to get your body working again, the emphasis on core strength, flexibility and control are a breath of fresh air. I sound like a convert I know, but do check out Union Pilates. It's also in a great location, and you can actually see Lake Union from there!
