The equipment is smarter than the up-to-date plenty of room they have stacious locker rooms steam room and a swimming pool are employees are always nice
I miss this YMCA - as I just to the the DC area. This YMCA has the BEST people working there - alway very very smiling and make everyone's day great! Nice 25m swimming pool right in the heart of the city - across my work! Great and clean work out machines, - but the staff is the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!
pretty nice facility overall. i think the free weight area could use a lot of work, but they do have a good selection of machines. the pool is a little small but that's too be expected i guess given its such an old building.
Probably the best Indian restaurant in Downtown . ambience is good.. wide range of options.. Food really tasty and portions were large..Naan / roti were really big and believe they should be sufficient for 2 persons easily.. would definitely recommend for anyone looking for good Indian food..NOTE: they also have few American and Mediterranean options as well..
I can't say enough about the YMCA in Seattle downtown on 4th Avenue. The staff are so friendly and professional. They always make me feel so welcome whenever I enter. I wish I could go there every single day just to get a smile from one of the staff members. Clean towels are available. They are definitely environmentally conscious as they asked us only take two towels and or as many if you need more. Facility always clean. Swimming pool wonderful. I love the women's locker room, hot tub, sauna, and steam room. No doubt about it 5 Stars plus if I could give them 10 I would !!
I strongly recommend the Y to anyone who is new in town and is looking for a place to work out, meet new people and be part of an amazing community. Here is why: great facilities with tons of equipment of all sorts (swimming pool, basketball court, sauna, a lot of cardio equipment...), classes of all kinds are organized every day, amazing friendly and professional staff, many events are organized for the members such as hiking. It is much more than just a gym, it is a community of great people from many horizons and backgrounds.
The good: friendly staff, amenities (sauna, steam room, etc), equipment.
The bad: not maintained, feels like a homeless shelter, creepy clientele, locker rooms always littered with hair that never gets sweeped, and most recently: ridiculous rules. They recently implemented a new rule where you have to have a bathing suit to use the sauna/steam room. Now they police this stupid rule, disturbing you while you try to relax in the sauna wanting to see you have a bathing suit. Ridiculous and humiliating!
They also shut down for over a week (I showed up on the Saturday and went home disappointed) with little notice, supposedly to do "maintenance". When I came back there was barely any difference and still hair everywhere in the locker room. Gross.

Overcrowded facility that is not properly climate controlled in the summer. There are never enough sweat towels available and sometimes it feels like a homeless shelter. All that and they charge $64 dollars a month. Someone needs to open a new gym in the downtown core.
They also shut down for an entire week during the summer with an excuse that they upgrade the facility but it's never any different other than shuffling a few things around. Hey YMCA, why don't you do this stuff on the Sundays you are closed during the year instead of majorly inconveniencing the members you soak for an obscene $64 a month?

The staff at the downtown "Y" are truly the best. Outstanding customer service. Genuinely friendly and helpful. That alone makes me give 5 stars. This is a gym for everyone in the community and they operate as such. Expect to make new friends after a couple weeks, you'll find friendly patrons willing to answer a question or give advice. The free classes are what make the membership dues and fees well worth it. Take advantage of the variety. I hope the facility will do better with cleanliness in the near future(locker rooms).

Wonderful classes. Great Spa. Sauna. And truly relaxed ambiant sporty atmosphere especially during the day from hard earned workouts. Simply a super nice venue to unwind and relax. As well as taking in all the extra added sports equipment, running track, basketball courts etc, ... there to make anyone Push-it-to the Limit ! Absolutely sterling attentiveness by its Front Desk Reception staffing. Greetings warmly with rach and every individual entering to exiting the building. Just admirable personable genuineness ! And the overall effect really plays a huge role with every one who comes in contact with the indivodual membership teamwork !! A historical gem that is really indeed a marvelous place to be. A piece of history in its historical setting and architectural design.
Great, friendly employees! Has everything a normal YMCA has and is decently well-kept. Gym is not too crowded. Can get an open machine 80-90%% of the time.

The gyms need newer modern equipment and and a price adjustment. Like Like a set price to only use the gym room or pool.

Great staff. Many open classes throughout the week, pool, steam room and hot sauna. NOT open on Sunday.
An amazing staff truly dedicated to support all users rich or poor. Their programs truly can turn lived around. Contribute all you can to this organization. The money is well spent locally.

A really good experience since you enter. Everybody is kind. The machines are good and it has a lot of diferent spaces to do diferent things
This is everyone's gym. Everyone is made to feel welcome. I love the fact that the sauna and hot tub are not co-ed. I also love that there is an elevator. I know it is a gym, but I am trying to rehab my knee and I already feel like jelly when I finish my workout.
Great place for all types of people. They put up with degenerates, rich, etc. You can all go there together to prepare for your day. I stopped because of all of the nudity and felt a persecutory sixth sense around all of the Christians and too many negative thoughts ran through my mind about respect for abusive men and women in submission. I'm just that way and get creeped out in religious environments fairly quickly. It doesn't take much. If you like that kind of thing, join! They also help with community service and house teens, run blood drives, etc.
The best part of this YMCA is its Pool. It has a separate area for laps and then a smaller area for recreation. I take my 1 year old there all the time so that he can practice his skills. The group classes too are in variety and cater to all fitness levels.
best downtown 12 step meeting help here!
Lot's of classes and fitness rooms, a pool, steam room and sauna, membership allows to visit other YMCA s including the ones on the Eastside.
Staff is fantastic and friendly. Good gym but gets a little crowded after work
Great array of lots of classes. I love yoga and they have 2 to 3 options per day
I am a big fan of the Y. Always affordable, always affordable to all incomes. I have never understood why anyone would be a member at any other "fitness" club than the Y. If you haven't been to a Y, now is the time. Especially the old building YMCA/WAs - which have history.
I was impressed by the range of facilities but was not impressed by the cleanliness of the men's locker room. The unsanitary floors gave me athlete's foot. The staff is usually friendly but not very affective at keeping the place clean. Nobody seems to work there long enough to care. I also quit because I didn't feel safe being around some of the guys they let into this place who seem either right out of jail or on their way to jail. The staff is also quick to accuse some innocent people of breaking their rules while letting the real violators get away with murder. There's no consistency. I think the Y has provide a safer and cleaner experience to attract and retain their members.
This a good fitness center in downtown Seattle. Open long hours.
Amazing spot, also gots a wide variety of option, indoor track, weights, basketball courts, heavy bags, Racquet ball and a pool!!!!! All in the heart of Downtown. Can't get a better spot than this.
Old building, many floors, lots of unsafe crevices for kids. Basketball court is above average. Naked grown men in the hot tub in the men's locker room.
Many activities at one single place...reasonable price too!
