I've been going to Jessica at Emerald City Pilates for almost 5 years. I really like that classes are 1x1, which means we can focus on what works best for me. I had shoulder pain for a few years, but with regular visits to Jess, and by doing the "take-home" exercises she taught, that pain has gone away over time. Jess is also fun and energetic, and very knowledgeable about the human body. So glad I found this place!

I've been going to Emerald City Pilates for nearly a decade now (honestly not sure how long), and have worked with most of the instructors. I love the personalized, 1:1 experience, and they way they've worked with me through a variety of injuries (I've sprained joints most people don't even know exist). I had to stop sessions for a few months for financial reasons, and absolutely hated it! I'll be making sure Pilates is in my budget from now on.

The instructors at Emerald City are dedicated to give you the best workout while protecting your health. They review your current health upon arrival then revise your workout if you have a minor injury or soreness. Their ability to not only observe but correct during the exercises ensures you are in proper form to maximize your efforts.

When I moved to Seattle last year, I looked around for a Pilates studio that had body movement expertise. Emerald City fit the bill. Jessica is a practitioner of the Franklin method. I"ve had shoulder and leg pain for years despite PT. Because of my work with Jessica, I no longer have that constant pain -- Jessica's taught me how to move my body correctly. Additionally, I have osteoporosis -- Jessica is working on balance to mitigate my fall risk; and is getting my joints into a healthier state. I'm very happy to have found Emerald City Pilates. It's changed my relationship to my body -- at 75 years old that's amazing! I feel better than I have in years.
I highly recommend Emerald City Pilates!

I came to Emerald City Pilates due to some lower back pain I was experiencing in my regular workout routine. I had several sessions with both Ellen and Jessica (the owner). I was very impressed with their coaching and they seemed very well versed on the human body. The sessions are private & one-on-one and really focused on my specific needs and on exercises that would specifically help my back issue. I definitely feel as though I have a much better understanding of my body and I have already begun to experience less back pain during my regular exercise routine. I cannot express enough how fantastic Emerald City Pilates is! I highly recommend them!

Classes work every muscle in your body (even ones you didn't know existed). The variety makes the time go by relatively quickly.
Instructors are helpful, but it still takes a few sessions to get the most out of the machines and know which resistance setting is right for you. (I woke up completely sore in my lower body, but didn't have any soreness in my arms.)

In 2011 at 31 y/o I had been trying to start running and I was always in pain. On my way home from a run at the sculpture park is where I saw her sign sitting in from of her building entrance with balloons on it. I emailed the address on the sign and had a prompt response. A few days later I had my first appointment with studio proprietor, Jessica Notman.

From day one I was hooked. She teaches you all about your body and the muscles and muscle groups while she works with you through the Pilates movement on a variety of equipment. She also mentions why certain movements are important; bits of information you start to remember and incorporate into your everyday movements. Each day was different. Jessica and I worked together getting my body in shape and making sure it worked mechanicallly well and not just strong. I went from an always injured runner to completing a 50 mile mountain ultra and many other amazing races and runs.

I would highly recommend Emerald City Pilates, their staff and facilities. They help you make your fitness dreams come true.

I've been working with Natasha for a few months now, following months of inactivity due to illness and injury. The sessions have really helped loosen open up my shoulders, ribcage, and mid back, which have been problem areas. She is highly knowledgeable about anatomy, and is really tuned into my movements, breathing, etc., through our session. She is definitely 100% on the whole time, which I appreciate.

I've also worked with Lindsey, as well as the owner, Jessica, when Natasha isn't available. All three have slightly different teaching methods, but I enjoyed working with each of them. No matter who is teaching, the session starts with a check-in about how I'm feeling, and then the exercises are tailored to that.

I've only had to reschedule once or twice, but it has been easy. I recommend this practice. It's a great way to start the day, and a good complement physical therapy and/or to other exercise programs.

I have been attending Emerald City Pilates for 3+ years. Jessica has transformed my body through her amazing Pilates instruction and wellness/diet coaching. I currently struggle with psoriasis and other dietary issues, which have almost completely cleared up in the last year of working with Jessica. I have made more progress working with her for 1 year than years of working with dermatologists. I am forever grateful for all the positive changes to my body and my life and enjoy looking forward to seeing her smiling face every week.

I am a multiple year client and still benefiting from every session. Jessica's approach to my program has improved my overall fitness. She changes up the program to fit my needs each week. This has been the best approach to improving and maintaining my fitness. I highly recommend it.
