Gym has good equipment however try to avoid peak times if you hate crowd. Personal trainer package is a pure rip off. Staff is nice until you sign up for the package. Some trainers don't even look fit. They even lie about their schedule and make you come at their own convenient times. If you cancel in the middle you will have to pay 50% of balance fee. I urge everyone to think twice before considering the PT package. One free PT session for all the members is a bait. Don't fall for it and end up paying big chunk of money like I did . They act nice and spend time more in that free session to attract you. Honestly you are not going to get any value out of 25 min session for 70$. Staff is clue less and orchestration is very poor.

I visited for the first time today with a friend who used a guest pass on me. I've never visited an LA Fitness before. I'm devastated, because I left my wallet in the girl's locker room, and $250 from my wallet was stolen when I was done working out. They didn't steal my wallet, and even left some $1 bills. I couldn't stop crying. I told the staff members about what happened, and he just said "sorry" and didn't even try to help me. That made me feel even worse. I'm just a student without any income, and the money that I do get, I need to work a lot of hours to make. If I can't trust to leave my things in the locker room, what's the point of going? I was thinking of buying a membership, but I don't feel safe going anymore. There are plenty of other gyms you can visit in Seattle. Go find one where you can feel safe in the locker room instead of this one.

The facilities are technically fine and the classes were great. And I want to give a shoutout to the unfailingly kind employees at the front desk, all 2 of you. The rest of the staff is pretty abysmal and do their best to foster the opposite of an enriching space to work out. I found a new gym after overhearing commentary directed towards my physicality from the front desk workers. 1 star for motivating me to find a better gym. Thanks LA Fitness!

Nice gym. But I wish people are more professional. They take a machine forever because they are on their phones

Forwent the the 30-day free pass and signed up for a year which they kindly extended to 18 months. Added a guest for $50 so it was basically two-for-one. $700 out the door with tax. Classes included.

Gym is clean and seems well maintained. Haven't needed to wait for equipment. Staff seems friendly enough. Pool and towels are included.

I've been coming to this location for a few years and it's been on a slow path of decline. The customer base is growing, the gym is getting more and more crowded, but the operations seems to be struggling to scale to the growing customer base.

-->Equipment is often in disrepair, some of the popular cardio equipment is dated and failing often. I've seen the same piece of equipment fail over and over again but it remains there.

--> The two most popular cardio machines (stair climber and elliptical with adjusting ramps) are few and often full while a dozen or so lower end elliptical and stair masters are always empty. For some reason LA Fitness is not seeing the obvious customer desire and they're not responding by providing adequate equipment.

-->They're making improvements on cleanliness, but with so many people crowding some things need to scale. There should be more adequate means to clean/sterilize equipment between users. And the locker rooms could use more frequent checks... especially the showers.

--> People are always waiting for a bench in the free weights area, and there's no response in equipment changes to accommodate customer needs.

What I can say as a positive is that it's relatively low cost and parking access is good compared to other local area gyms. But overall if things don't improve I might switch gyms and suck up the bad parking at the other local gym.

This is a good gym for the price. There is plenty of parking, well-maintained equipment, a pool with a hot-tub and a view, and a decent basketball court.

Edit: if you use the guest pass they will call you incessantly.

The gym facilities are subpar at best. The equipment is old, the facilities are always dirty, and they recently started charging members for towels. Not only is this facility poorly maintained, LA Fitness overall offers a terrible customer experience. The try to reel you in with promotions and then tell you the promotions are no longer available. When you try and cancel they tack on additional months where they are still charging you instead of allowing you to end with the current pay cycle.

Do NOT get a personal trainer at this location, or any LA Fitness. Do NOT sign a contract!! I repeat, DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT WITH LA FITNESS!!! You'll be locked in for 12 months with no way out.

Empty promises of getting fit, losing weight. Sessions are expensive and are not helpful (only 25 minutes long!). The training contracts are nearly impossible to get out of. Don't make my mistake. Stay away from LA Fitness. There's plenty of other local gyms in the area you can support instead of this corporate giant.

Awesome La fitness! Clean, spacious and the employees were exceptionally friendly.

The gym itself is fine. They have racquetball, basketball, pool, free weights, etc. It's almost always too crowded--to the point where you have to amend your workout based on what's available. More than anything, I dislike their management and corporate structure. I was already an LA member for a decade when I joined the "signature club" but still had to pay $150 initiation fee in addition to the higher monthly rate. If you want to cancel your membership, you have to do so in person during the hours the club manager is working (or else snail mail your cancellation to HQ in Los Angeles). I've been to numerous other LA clubs in the Seattle area that aren't "Signature" but have all the same amenities and often time better facilities. In my opinion, they take advantage of the relatively minimal competition in the area to promote aggressive, borderline unethical sales/membership tactics.

EDIT: It's now been about a year of attendance, and I decided to drop my review from three stars to two. The quality of this gym dropped dramatically. Several machines are broken and have gone weeks without being repaired/replaced; staff moved equipment to "training" only areas to prompt people to pay for a personal trainer; and the men's locker room is randomly without shower curtains 2-3 times each week.

ORIGINAL: Been going here for three months. It's a very consistent experience, which is great. Towels are almost always available, the locker room and showers are in fair shape, and the machines are kept clean. The equipment is starting to look a little dated (elliptical and bikes look to be from 2012 or so), but only a few are showing signs of wear. Everything is very functional. Afternoons are jam packed, I'd recommend early morning if you want to get reps in without waiting.

Expensive yet not managed properly. Locker rooms smell and are left dirty. Too many people in the pool. They care more about selling services than providing the services.

I have been member with la fitness for several years now so I tried to go to the Ballard la fitness I was told I don't have access to the gym because I am not a member of signature gym. I recommend 24 hours without any drama

Gym has a lot of equipment and so a lot of gym buddies. It has other amenities like a pool and several squash courts.

Apart from it being very crowded on weekdays, everything else is really great. Also smells like feet :D

April 6, 2018 12:20

Overall I really like this gym. My biggest issue is they have some of the equipment like kettle bells and now the TRX equipment ONLY available for people with personal trainers. Things I used to use at my old gym and would like to use here. But are definitely not so vital that I would consider using one of their trainers. They've said they are getting another TRX for public use for months but gave still not delivered. They do this from time to time with other equipment too. It's not a huge deal as there are plenty of options on equipment for working each muscle group. I could understand if it was equipment that had a high risk of injury if not properly trained on how to use it, but this is just odd stuff that's somewhat annoying.

April 3, 2018 12:25

Decent facilities, but pretty bad customer service. Of all of the LA Fitnesses that I've been to, this one has the best stuff, and I've never had to wait for a machine, even when it's crowded. I often have to wait for a lane at the pool, but that makes sense, considering that there are only three lanes so only 6 people can swim at a time. However, I've been trying to downgrade my membership to a single club, and I have had so much trouble trying to get someone to get back to me. I've called them three times, each time someone saying that I'll get a call back (and I haven't). I've gone in person, and when the person at the front desk couldn't help me, I was directed to someone else, and that person couldn't help me either. I was told that the operations manager has to be the one to downgrade my membership, but I have yet to hear from them and it's been three weeks of trying. Very frustrating.

Great that it is in a central location, but equipment is old, often broken or working poorly. The pool is way over crowded and too dirty. The music is played way to loud over the speakers promoting LA Fitness. 98% of the people are listening to their own music & the piped in overhead music just adds to the overall volume & makes the workout experience less favorable and jarring. Appears they are working on keeping the place cleaner. The gals that clean the women's restroom are very nice & always working hard. The towel service is awesome.
Overall, I think LA Fitness could do a lot better for its members.

April 1, 2018 13:17

Good enough but certainly not great. The folks working here are fine. It's sort of clean. But the treadmills, bikes and ellipticals are incredibly tired. Draws a large crowd at peak hours so the perpetual string of broken machines "Scheduled for Service" is frustrating.

March 14, 2018 12:46

As a 15+yr member this club, I've seen some noticeable changes. Apparently, poor YELP reviews encouraged a complete turnover of staff. They are working hard to keep the place picked up. Thankfully, the locker rooms are getting a new coat of paint which they desperately deserved. But, there are many miles still to go before I can call this a "Signature" facility.

Access to all equipment can be limited during peak times. This is probably due to the influx of many new members since the start of the 2018. The cardio equipment is getting old. There are always a couple pieces out of service, or not fully functioning despite maintenance efforts.

The club members are generally courteous, except in pool area. Swim lane etiquette is ignored or unkown except by seasoned swimmers. The rules of lane etiquette need posted in big, bold, readable signs similar to those at Seattle Parks Dept pools.

This LA Fitness Signature club, it's showing it age. The cardio equipment and locker rooms need replacement and a complete makeover. But, until then, the facility can it can meet most fitness needs in an uninspiring environment.

Expensive, has towel service, dirty pool. Some unneeded renovations. Big network, may be able to find a place to work out even when I travel.

March 4, 2018 19:05

Typical slime ball corporate gym. Intentionally make you jump through hoops to cancel their outrageous contract that you need to have a law degree to understand.

February 18, 2018 16:06

Great gym, great equipment and facilities. Can be crowded when you would expect.

November 29, 2017 16:21

Once the staff member realized I was planning to join through my insurance company he completely lost interest in my business.
The facilities aren't bad although the water in the hot-tub is distinctly murky. There are now signs up saying insurance members aren't entitled to use the towels even though insurance membership at any of the participating businesses includes any facilities available to regular members, which in the case of Ballard should include the towels. So that strikes me as petty.

I have belonged to this gym for the past five years or so. At first it had major cleanliness and equipment problems. Then with new management it was cleaned up and seemed to be in repair. Now it has slipped to an all-time low. Many of the machines do not work properly, and it is again often dirty. In addition, it appears that there are robberies happening and the management refuses to talk about it. Last week there were at least 2 robberies while I was present, and when I tried to discuss the robbery from my locker, a person who purported to be the manager was incredibly rude, refused to discuss it, refused to tell me if the parking garage had video monitoring, and was genrerally unhelpful. I will not return. Clearly the gym is on the fall and the garage is unsafe.

Out of town visitor. This is one of the biggest LA Fitness gyms that I have seen. They have a GREAT selection of Hammer Strength equipment. The cardio equipment is old and can stand to be replaced--every elliptical and treadmill. My other beef--the dumbbells. Half of them seem to be missing.

October 23, 2017 08:02

Cleaner than some of the gyms in the Seattle area LA Fitness chain, that I have been to. Friendly staff. Pool area is lovely and has a fantastic view.

October 23, 2017 08:02

The largest LA I have seen. A smaller pool that is always busy but a separate for for cycling and a huge fitness class room. I think 6 racquetball court and tons of cardio equipment. A very lively gym. One of my favorites.

It is Good to work out they've got everything you need
